Good news, anamorphic shop has included the FM collar 24 in the box when you get the FM, now you have the freedom to try different anamorphic lenses with your FM.

EeeCeeGee reacted to Tito Ferradans in Anamorphic on a Budget.
One chapter at a time, I'm translating to english my graduation work which is 90% focused on anamorphics. I hope it brings some light onto common questions as well as works as a good follow-up read after the original EOSHD Anamorphic's Shooter Guide.
I'll keep updating the links to each chapter on this post, please feel free to comment and correct me along the way. There are 22 chapters/topics and roughly a hundred pages.

EeeCeeGee reacted to artiswar in The FM lounge (Discussion of anything not related to FM price and discount)
Just received the lens but unfortunately I'm at work. I'll do some tests tonight/tomorrow and get something up! Packaged really well. Solid build, slightly metallic focus feel but very solid. All of the grub screws are snug and a hex key is included for the small screws on the barrel. Caps included as well as a silver collar which seems to be for smaller anamorphics. The small grub screws on the barrel itself could be replaced fairly easily with longer, stronger ones for smaller anamorphics. More later.

YEah i agree.. need to know how it works with Kowa 8z, bolex/moller 8/9/15... hope they have some test videos soon

EeeCeeGee reacted to Caleb Genheimer in Contax/Yashica Zeiss with Anamorphic (Kowa 16H/8Z)?
Oh, trust me, I know ;) Kowa 16-H is the best bar-none. I've got a 37mm MIR-1b, a Konica 40mm as well as 24mm lenses in FD mount from Canon and Tamron . . . so I know how wide it can go. My plan is to eventually snag a 35mm f1.4 C/Y Zeiss, as well as a longer lens (probably the f2.0 135mm) . . . along with an appropriate speedbooster from Metabones. 5 lenses from 35-135mm strikes me as a pretty complete set, and with the speedboster, it's kinda like having 10 lenses.
I'm also in the final stages of development on a wireless follow-focus system that sync-focuses the prime and the Kowa, using Arduino-controlled stepper motors commanded by an Android app. But I'm keeping it mostly under wraps until such time as it's fully functional, at which time I'll do a nice write-up with instructions to make your own.

Eh, this is the kind of thing I'd spend more money on. It's kind of an investment, and it's one that'll pay itself off, especially if you have multiple lenses.

EeeCeeGee reacted to Julian in Must See for GH4 owners - Recovering Super Whites
This might be obvious to some of you. It wasn't to me. By default the GH4 records in 16-255. So that's what I shot my video's in. Turns out, you have to do some stuff to recover the 'super whites', if you don't do it you end up with crushed highlights.
This guy took some original footage from Vimeo (yes, I'm flattered by the compliments I got on my cat ;)) and made a tutorial about it.
Awesome stuff, must see! The bad news, I have to re-edit all my videos and upload them again ;)
Also check out his website: http://www.florisliesker.nl/
This guy makes great stuff.

EeeCeeGee reacted to itimjim in Compact Anamorphic for BMPCC
I have the bigger Moeller (16/32/1.5x) and I wouldn't swap it for the most pristine copy of any Iscorama ever. I'm getting buried with this thing :)

EeeCeeGee reacted to Quirky in Black Magic Camera over heats and sets camera on fire
As far as I've understood, the BMPCC is using a peltier cooling system, which uses a lot of battery power, but the heat is dissipated into the camera body via the cooling element, it's not the battery that generates the heat. So the body getting pretty warm at times is normal.
In theory a component breaking inside that cooling system could possibly cause problems. But it's pointless to speculate, as we really don't know anything. It could still be a number of reasons.
It's the 2010's, and the whole mainstream media has become brain dead. Click baiting and copy&paste journalism are the new normal.
Oh come on, don't join yet another internet lynch mob, and help propagating yet another pointless (and often purposeful) internet meme. Let's not be played by yet another silly distraction for all the wrong reasons. This isn't worth it.
There are at least two sides to this story, too, and we don't really know either of them. All we know that a camera started (apparently) overheating for some unknown reason, that's all. What BM will or won't do as a consequence is none of our worries. Some (now viral) online video won't make it our business. People were criticising the uploading of that video without all the facts, and the way the controversial video now gets promoted online as "news." It has nothing to do with BM per se.
So let's move along, shall we.

EeeCeeGee reacted to tony wilson in Baby Hypergonar for sale
you take some of the history i made up about this lens add film clips shot by francisco and you make up figures as you go along.
provide not one mounting solution.
i thought you had a couple and one had fungus inside now we have 2 perfect lens.
if you are gonna use another film makers excellent landscape work to sell your glass bung him 150 dollars.
this site is getting quite sordid on the sales front.
i would suggest for 3000 you would need to have the baby mounted into the best hand made shooting cage ever made.
the fact you cannot be arsed to spend 20 dollars on a vamp clamp just adds to the offence.
shoot your own tests,if you cannot be arsed .
seduce us with lens poetry explain why you believe this optical marvel to be worth the made up figures plucked from your minds eye.
why be a vampyre you had a good christ mass at someone from norways expense.
drac is back for more free drinks.
pay something back to francisco you tool or be a little more subtle.

EeeCeeGee reacted to Andrew Reid in Mitakon Lens Turbo Speedbooster Nikon AI-s to M43 MFT
http://cheesycam.com/mitakon-lens-turbo-chart-tests-gh3/
Stopped down to F5.6 only. What's the point? Let's see it wide open Mr Cheesy.
Until then just get the Metabones ones. With something this essential it doesn't make much sense to save a few bob and end up turning all your many dollars worth of lenses into mud-o-vision.

EeeCeeGee reacted to chrisso in Black Magic Pocket Camera
I love the way people shift responsibility for their actions onto someone else.
Resolve 10 lite works perfectly on my relatively cheap 2012 iMac. Maybe you need to adjust your set up?
Focus peaking works perfectly on my pocket camera.
Yes, the screen is hard to see in daylight. There is a $165 Kinotehnik loupe available.
You didn't need to spend anything more than a m4/3rds lens and an sd card to use the pocket camera. Everything else you bought was your own decision and can't be blamed on BMD.
And honestly, I can't believe your complaining that you had to download the latest firmware!!!! How hard is that? You have to download the latest version of everything you buy these days. That's the Internet age for you.
As above, I'm really loving my pocket camera. The image quality is superb, but yes, it is a bit quirky.

EeeCeeGee reacted to Gábor Ember in another original anamorphic lens from China!
Well I guess my idea of rehousing the taking lens and the anamorphic together caught on. I will rush my design and buy up all SUN anamorphics I can find and sell the rehoused stuff for 1K. I will be rich. Market it as a whole new design with the intention of vintage look and retro flare.
I am glad that anamorphic lenses are being produced, just don't try to fool anybody. At the very least make it look different. Make it durable, metal. I think it would be very nice if this "new" lens properly mention what it is. Say that it is a Zeiss Jena taking lens and a Pana anamorphic paired together in a beautiful, sturdy body. No alignment issues and such. Just don't try to market it as a whole new deal.
rant over.

EeeCeeGee reacted to Sean Cunningham in Introducing the SLR Magic anamorphic lens - hands on with new V3 prototype
And I'm entitled to the opinion that your opinion makes no sense and everyone just wants what they want. See, people have an opinion and the right to express themselves and in posting that in a forum they are inviting rebuttal and challenging ideas. They can either rise to that challenge and offer additional support for their opinion or they can just repeat their opinion because there is no supporting information. Because they just want what they want.
But under no circumstances does the freedom to express your opinion come with a freedom from commentary, criticism or other rebuttal. I'm not defending a product so much as challenging ideas that I recognize as emotional and largely impractical or without historic parity.
It's just convenient that my desire for an upgrade to what I already have, something that improves IQ while sacrificing absolutely none of the superior functionality that I enjoy, is perfectly aligned with their evaluation of what product would be most useful to the most amount of potential customers.
