  1.   Because the A7S takes my Canon lenses, has 4K output, has a better form factor for video, better codec and better image with S-LOG.
  2.   There seems to be no CineLikeD on it, but it is not the final firmware
  3. Shot 4K with the LX100 yesterday, going to upload and write my review as soon as I have access to a 1st world internet connection ;)
  4.   Definitely support is coming, but key thing is when. Camera is next month. If you can't edit the footage, then that's a bit of a problem isn't it!?   XAVC = H.264. What do you mean by hardware support? On the edit side?
  5.   Sensible suggestions, I'm going to act on them when I get back from Photokina. Cheers.
  6.   No. Samsung need to work more closely with Adobe and Apple to get support and quick. Very important we can edit the native files directly. I don't like transcoding especially when it turns a 910MB efficient file into a 26GB behemoth!
  7.   Yes e-shutter is in there. I saw a switch to enable it in the menus.
  8.   For some of this stuff you can just check the specs sheet, let's keep the questions relatively interesting :)
  9. No 10bit, at least not on the pre-prod firmware. Good question about the battery, will ask.   Keep the questions coming...
  10. Of all the surprises recently and there have been a few, the NX1 is the biggest. I spoke to Samsung's Sung Lae Park at Photokina whilst trying out the pre-production camera. Read the full article here
  11. Much more sensible pricing from Leica here.
  12. Day one at Photokina and first on the agenda is a catch-up chat with Sony product managers Bill Drummond, Ben Pilling and Robbie Fleming who had arrived fresh from IBC. I took a tour of the Sony booth and briefly tried the new Sony FS7 Super 35mm cinema camera for filmmakers! Read the full article here
  13. Wait for the LX100 is my advice. RX100 III is a bit cheaper and still nice but the LX100 just pushes everything to a new level especially video.
  14. The Panasonic LX100 is an engineering marvel. Along with the Apple Watch this has been the most impressive feat of miniaturisation of 2014 so far. To take both of these products travelling would be extremely liberating relative to taking a clunky DSLR and a standard smartphone. If the application of the technology is impressive, wait to you see what is being applied. The specs are outstanding for a camera of this kind, with the large Micro Four Thirds sensor of the GH4 sitting behind a Leica 24-75mm F1.7-2.8 lens, with 4K video, 11fps continuous shooting, and the same 4 core image processor as the GH4. 15. I prefer stills on the A7S as well but AF is important for stills and there are more lenses with AF on the GH4 / Micro Four Thirds system, so it's horses for courses really. The A7S is full frame and I love that look for stills.
  16. Say something useful for once in your life, and avoid insulting the person who has his finger hovering over the 'ban' button.   That's my sensible advice to you at this moment in time; no white powder involved. Adios!
  17. Best looking camera of the year so far. Going to appeal to a lot of X100 users, especially those let down by Fuji on the video side.
  18. First, I don't care about the promotional video or what stills people are saying on a spanish forum, because it isn't relevant to this discussion AT ALL!   Second, this is a filmmaking gear site and a filmmaking / video forum, AF in video mode is not at the level where it is useful yet.   Third, manual focus is more under the control of the filmmaker. You can't trust AF to do what you want it to do. Read up on Philip Bloom's review of the C100's AF.
  19.   AF in video mode? Riiiight.
  20.   It isn't that simple. No line skipped or pixel binned 1080p from a 20MP sensor will EVER look cleaner than 1080p from a 4K source file.
