  2. This is a quick introduction into the SLR Magic 1.33x Anamorphic adapter. I go over how to set it up, the basics of focusing and how to use the lens. Also: For those who have a knowledge of anamorphic lenses already, the new SLR Magic Diopters are the best I've ever used.

  3. My GH2's continue to get used in the most demanding of environments. I shot this corporate piece using GH2's in minus 20 weather in Edmonton, Canada back in November. Not a single card error or power issue, using Flowmotion 2.02. Cameras were rock solid. The weather made the grease in the takumar lens barrels pretty sluggish but everything held up great for the exterior shots. I continue to use a full minus green gel fixed against the sensor and manually WB for superb balanced colors with zero green cast for all interior and exterior conditions. I used a Kessler pocket dolly for slides and an hd400 glidecam for upping the production value. Lift shots we're from a 60ft Genie we hired out. Interviews were shot with 50mm and 35mm (with speedbooster). Interior interview lighting was with a 1k to a 5x3 bounce and a couple of Lowell pro kickers for hair and background lighting. Edited and coloured in the much improved FCPX 10.1

  5. I agree. I can't believe RAW makes sense for Panasonic. Besides, Andrew seems specifically excited about 4K, which basically HAS to be compressed in the GH4. But won't 4K 10bit 4:2:2 file sizes be gargantuan? As myself and numerous other people have already said on the 4K thread, it just seems a shame to put so much of the bitrate and file size into over-the-top resolution.

  6. hello everyone thanks! i think im going for the UK lensdoctor conversion, the edmika is cheaper and looks good but the actual DIY does not look easy, especially the part where you need to pull out the glass on the back with pliers, without scratching it, and there is some danger of locking up the aperture ring, and then having to dig deep. nevertheless Ed mika has some really nice solutions for people that are handy and confident to open up their lens.As far as i get he is sorting out a new conversion soon. this lens is worth the trouble!

  7. I want to share my experience with GH3 as a photography tool. Coming from a canon prosumer series, I was very disappointed with the GH3. The midtones are flat, so you end up with pasty saturated complexions on people's faces. At least in Adobe Camera Raw. So I bit the bullet and bought PS Kiss' GH3 lens profiles which lets me force different camera profiles that are calibrated for the GH3. And when I apply the 5D Mark 3 profile and bump the exposure by 1/3 stop, the image quality is superb. Whereas the standard Adobe Camera Raw profile that which is your only option in Adobe Camera Raw, for my standards, makes unusable pictures when it comes to pictures with people's faces being the subject. So the problem is that Panasonic is not working with Adobe to create calibrated lens profiles, not that the camera is not capable. But you can work around it for now. It's just one extra step in the workflow. Sure the raw files in MFT cameras are supposed to magically work in Adobe camera raw, but they only fix distortion. Colors, which may be fine for people looking for a different color profile than what you normally get from Nikon or Canon, but are not good when you are looking for accurate color. With that said, I feel good about shooting photos with the GH3 now that I know how to get the most out of it.

  8. If you want to see the massive improvement the SLR Magic lens has over the LA7200, just take a look at the difference at 35mm! RAW Chart SLR Anamorphic + 35mm T1.4 @5.6: '> RAW Chart LA7200 + 35mm T1.4 @5.6: '>
