I have a sirui in 24mm mft. I quite like it. when i first looked at it on youtube they were preproduction models i believe. I thought the flares might be a bit to much, however after buying it, i find the flares not to be too overpowering. I suspect either sirui toned them down or perhaps or youtubers sought out the absolute brightest lights to test on, which may not have been in the lenses best interests. Be interesting to see how your anamorphic adapter behaves. It was prime day everywhere wasn't it ? may not have been just us aussies... btw i like your room light. I have been setting up a black velvet curtain and i have some fairy lights to do some bokeh experiments with. If i can find something similar it might make it in as a foreground object.

yeah, besides those two big caveats... and it WAS capable of PRR actually internally though. - Today

Yup. Curren Sheldon bought one to pair with his R4D 8K for the documentary he's working on right now and (in general) he seems really happy with it. And even if your octopus has 7 of 8 limbs removed, it's better in a lot of ways than the other one. The S1R II does all sorts of things that the R4D doesn't - from open gate mode to recording raw to inexpensive (compared to ProSSD!) CF Express cards to much better control of codecs (R4D insists on ProRes RAW HQ (c'mon) and I think insists on ProRes 422 HQ if you choose ProRes. Oh, and to use lenses that weigh more than about 700g. -

99% of the people on YouTube cannot be called 'creators' unless the word is applied after the word 'content' and that followed with, 'for the sake of' and more often than not, proceeded by the word 'banal'. An endless stream of copycats with very little originality. It does exist (originality) but there isn't very much.

Yes, I noticed it too, but as it was just a quick test I didn't bother. It's just from the jpg compression so I'm not having to upload 8.5MB per image (yes, really!). I'll watch for it on the next batch π I got an email from Sirui Australia that shipping on my anamorphic adapter is delayed due to the Amazon Prime Day sales, so I'm guessing that lots of Aussies must have sent some money their way.

know this, your not alone... it was a fad and a bad fad at that. Sad it is, that creators haven't learnt anything as it still continues... if we judge humanity by our youtube creators you'd have to say humanity is doomed. When i want to see a genuine shocked face, i go watch some thing from styropyro he is always good value.

I see lots of banding in your images kye, i hope its mot just me lol. i presume that's from the jpg setting. I used to get banding from jpegs when i used them in timelapses till i learned better. Can you maybe up the jpeg quality a notch ? I know their only test shots, however i kinda feel the banding is hindering the visual aspect abit.

And the industry is fairly confident it's the same sensor in the S1Rii, so I have exactly the same thing, albeit just like an octopus that has had 7 of its 8 limbs removed. Kind of... -
I think it will come in a firmware upgrade. Or from Santa Claus at Christmas if I'm a really good boy for the rest of the year. I'm sure of it.

It has ProRes RAW internally. You have to pay $1 for a license to turn it on and you need to record it to ProSSD. - Yesterday

this. maybe it's something everyone needs to experience firsthand. i thought that i would these vintage lenses or modern cinema lenses with character and i would take these epic shots with them but just focusing on keeping the camera steady and trying to use focus wheel feels makes me switch to my first party AF lenses. i was recently going through some stuff that i shot and with a simple grade the footage was really filmic lol.

that's true. maybe i'm just a balls-to-the-wall type of guy. if i see me not needing to edit the footage extensively i switch out from NRAW to H265. but it's still kind of a bummer that they had the ProRes RAW internally but patched it out. especially how cheap fast CFxB cards have become, for one DJI SSD's price you could get 2 or even a 4TB model of CFX. and it would be that big of a hassle. -

ProRes 422 is a nice codec. Many people probably buy and use this camera and never miss raw. -
I think it is possible to convert CRM to DNG according to these sources. Apparently itβs similar to CR3 raw files.

If you want to record in the high-quality modes (PRR or 4444XQ), you need to use their ProSSD which is $800 for 1TB. At such a price, you might think that it would be an incredibly high-performing SSD. You'd be wrong. It's a mediocre USB-C SSD with a magic chip that tells the camera to use it. At this point, you might think you'll find a way to buy one and then swap the 1TB disk inside it for a 2TB or 4TB one. It is, after all, an NVMe SSD inside (if I remember right). You'd be wrong again. Someone tried this and even though the camera recorded to it without complaint, the files all came out unusable. Without the ProSSD adapter, the camera natively takes CF Express Type B. I'm not sure, but I think it can record over USB-C to an SSD. Both of these options will be limited to H.264 or ProRes 422. -
Only 7.1k? Better just stay home then. Everybody knows that it's a waste of time to shoot anything less than 7.2k. π

the camera is really attractive for the right person but i just can't but help look at the price of the media for it though. am i misremembering or did they have some kind of adapter that you could put your own M.2 SSD to? -

7.1k even. I was getting a bit carried away there referring to 7.2kβ¦

a lot of the content on products made by big channels feel like infomercials. for example, i was interested in the S1 ii and a creator was talking about the 70fps burst mode but failed to mention that the buffer takes 35s to clear and you can't lower the burst fps at all. don't get me started on hardware unboxed, i trust my grandma more than him when it comes to testing and correct results π

Xiaomi 14 Ultra camera and RAW video mode
The Dancing Babamef replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
those photos look amazing to be from a phone, then again a 1" sensor and a competent lens (for a smartphone) will pay off. -
Sorry, another Q re. cards... So for stills, pretty sure I'm OK as I was using these cards for S1R previously but it's 7.2k 30p video I am thinking about more. I'd rather avoid dropping a ton of cash on this, unless I absolutely have to, but I have: 3x Prograde 256GB 250/MB/s (V60) cards and I 'presume' 7.2k (and what I suspect is 300 Mpbs?), will write to these OK (as back up) with the primary files being written to my single Prograde 256GB 1700 MB/s CF Express card? Or is this CF Express not good enough for 7.2k footage?? The other option...and especially because CF Express is soooooo much cheaper than SD, is to pick up a Prograde 3400 MB/s CF Express card at β¬226 for a 512GB or β¬392 for a 1TB and switch out the SD's if they become full. But you can get, what 4 hours of 8k Vlog on a 256GB card and shooting purely clips, even over a full weekend, I can't see that ever happening...so a 1TB CF Express is probably massive overkill? My other 3 cameras are quite happy writing 4k or 6k to 128GB 'silver' cards and I have plenty of storage in that regard so it's only the new big boy I need to do something with.

when i bought my Z9 i had to upgrade from my 3080 Ti. if anything i was running out of was VRAM. My specs at the time were a 13900, 4100c16 32GB RAM. a good GPU is a must as encoding with NVENC is the best option. Faster and more power efficient, you're not going to draw 160W over an hour for a long video thru your CPU.
