MicroSD, on the other hand, just seems insane. Proxies, maybe? But why? Who is asking for MicroSD in a full-sized camera? A second SD card which can plug directly into most laptops would make a lot more sense.

Car wobble can be prevented by IBIS lock. Most of the heat comes from CPU and CFe cards, not sensor.

I think it could be directing vs ZV-E1 with with that microsd, if was seriously it need to be cfexpress card.

There is, car wobble, and thermal won't be as good as sensor sticking directly to thermal plate.

And nobody believes that with a microSD card. But it's completely ok to be Z30 with full frame sensor.

There is no drawback to have IBIS and not using it.

Thank god for that. I presume Canon will put a decent OLPF in it like they normally do, so my biggest concern now is read out speed.

This is why I think it is targeting the FX3 type market. That is a small form factor camera from RED!!! I mean Nikon, that will compete for the small form factor Video/Cine market for 3 to 4 thousands USD. My guess it will give you all the video/cine tools that are not necessarily present in Nikon Z cameras, at least for now. I can't see this camera, not coming out with Lut Support and false colors for example. I see Nikon marketing it as Mini red, with red color Science etc, to event/documentary/wedding filmmakers. Or to even Nikon shooters that might want one of their bodies with more video centric tools.

Yea, Z30 mentioned in the rumor since the first day it appeared was a sign of what was to come.

The Nikon Z30 is the same form factor of a Fx3. It is more or less, a brick with a lens mount and a fully articulating screen.

The only reason, I would think that they would use a micro SD, is for a backup lower bitrate recording on a second card. This has been one of the gripe people have been having with Nikon. But even the SD card is puzzling for me. Is their SD cards fast enough for ALL-intra codec, and my guess it will implement REDraw. For a company that has used so much CFexpress card, I am a bit astonished.

53 minutes recording 6k 30p continuously 31 degrees Celsius in the shade before the heat warning came on but it kept rolling and the speech ended before I got to experience a shutdown. Not too shabby!

My experience with E-M1 iii is that the battery life is pretty good (certainly compared to some Panasonic M43 cameras I've owned), but I would always take a spare battery with me if I was planning to shoot a reasonable amount of video. (That's a nicely kept red Citroën Ami on the left of the 2nd photo - brings back memories of the later Citroën Visa that my wife owned years ago, powered by a 650cc air-cooled 2-cylinder engine. At only 35bhp It was rather underpowered but that made it great fun to drive - just to make reasonable progress you had to thrash it hard and overtaking needed serious forward planning 😀)

Downsampling 7K to 6K isn’t crazy just a bit more pixels than 6K itself, easily handled by a modern DIGIC processor plus cooling. The FX2 does 7K to 4K downsampling in similar form factor and has like 13 hours of recording time. Canon doesn’t mess around with their cinema line; that’s the whole point of going that route vs their hybrid cameras. I doubt heat management will be an issue. Battery life wise I'd assume it uses the new R5ii batteries that pretty much remedied the R5C battery life issues.

took the e-m1 and the sirui 24mm anamorphic to a car show today. here's a couple of images that i found interesting. I label the first, Oh the irony.. Clearly i wasn't the only one in a frivolous mood today... I wanted to get some car shots as my dad used to work on cars and race them. he's got Alzheimer's now, 94 and not out. He still remembers stuff. I'll make the photos up as a slide show, make the day a bit more interesting for a change, . It was a bit cramped inside not much room between cars, which is why i took the sirui anamorphic 24mm. Still a bit tight but thats ok its for me and my dad. Had to bump up the iso even then sometimes it was down a fifth of a sec which seem really slow. I presume the ibis must have done its job as most photos turned out ok. Wasn't till i hit a blurry photo that i thought about it much then when i did have a look, i came away quite impressed with the camera. i Did take a few panning video shots however my held held skills are very limited lol. One thing i will have to do is buy an extra battery as its fairly easy to flatten a battery in a couple of hours or less. Also been continuing with some Black and white. This would have been the takumar 17mm. I now have a orange filter that will fit the front of the 24mm sirui, so i want to give that a try next.

Lumix S1RII and it’s identical twin, S1II glare sullenly in your direction. IMO, if it’s ‘cinema’ camera, it either can’t shoot stills at all, or it’s at least a bit crap in that department whereas if it’s ‘hybrid’, it should be able to do both equally as well. Perhaps not video as well as a dedicated cinema camera and perhaps not stills as well as a dedicated camera, but at least both comparable to each other. By its C designation, I would not expect this new Canon to be that great for stills so most likely, will be that smaller more dedicated cinema camera. But where will the hammer strike? I came close to building a hybrid system around R3’s which despite their size are surprisingly light and I think are a really great balance for stills and video. The only thing that put me off was the price and last year these were still commanding 5-6k on the used market but can now be had for around 3k so if I was looking today, they would be very strong contenders. Good stills, great video spec.

Yeah I can see that but for me - a shooter with two R5Cs - I don't need it to be robust on the photo side, just the basics, like an R50V. Either way, the more I think about it, the more I feel like the R50V is all I really need right now, but open gate would be kinda nice to have still!

I wonder will the optional EVF work on the R50V too?

Anything is possible, of course, and I have absolutely no insight beyond rumors, but it still seems a little weird to me. It should be a lot less computationally expensive to handle QB readout (I think this might even be done by circuitry in the sensor itself) than to take a 7K image and downsample it to 6K at high quality. Seems like it'd be a pretty big hit on battery life and heat. Good thing it's rumored to have a fan! Although wasn't there recently a camera that came out and still overheated, even though it had a fan? Maybe Canon's management saw that and got upset that somebody invented a hammer that they never even imagined and they instantly put their best people on it. 😉

Damn, that's unfortunate. Maybe they blame the Angry Photographer for their divorce. They went at each other hard some years ago very publicly with non tech related personal stuff.
