liork
A test I did, Watch the buildings on the left... Dont forget to choose 1080p.
Stab
Big difference. But not as big as a difference as the DR between these two! Look at the playground under the tent. In the 70D it's all shadows, in the G6 it's utterly bright. Nice.
trafficarte
I saw it at 1080p, but the moire of the G6 at 00:55 is really annoying, down on the fence. I was hoping it would be better since I'm trying to figure out which of the two cameras is the most suitable for me.
liork
The G6 is not free of moire, but the 70D is much worse and fail on major things, just look at the buildings brick wall (on the left). The Canon is also a lot softer.
liork
I did double check on the G6, it turned out that "iResolution" was on, without it, the moire is much less a problem...
andy lee
Ive never had any noticable moire issues on my g6 you should do your test again now IResolution is off you will notice the difference now the g6 out performs the canon hands down
trafficarte
I hope to see soon a test with the "iResolution" off. It's the first time I see so much moiré on a G6, and I'm after it (or the 70D) only for video. [UPDATE] I've seen another video on your channel: is it done without iResolution? I've noticed a really minimal moirè just before the end, on the fence, but not so annoying as in the previous video. The video I'm talking about is this one:
liork
Yes indeed, I just shot it today, this time without iResolution and almost no moire at all. These are original files from camera - no post proccesing.
trafficarte
I've found another video, shot with EOS 70D, with great autofocus and a ton of moiré and artifacts.
Quirky
Whoah. So all the new sensor in the 70D delivered was the new hybrid AF that works better than the previous one, but all the old moire and jaggies is still there? Oh well, given the track record of the camera giants and Canon in particular, any other outcome would indeed have been a big surprise. Ho hum. Especially in their middle of the (price) range products. Hopefully they'll have something new and better up in their sleeve for next year.
