  1. Nope. It's all about people jumping on a negative and having knee jerk reactions. The GH5 had crippled specs that for all purposes were the same as an iPhone doing 4k at the time. Yes that's extreme but as long as you see 4K 10bit you think it's equal to cine 4k 10bit and its not. Maybe wait and see what the limitations are before jumping off the cliff.
  2. I hear ya about the Canon fan club, I'm in it also. How does the C200 hold up to the GH5? I personally won't use the GH5 for this reason. I don't care how many specs are included it doesn't fix these issues and the issues above make the Gh5 un-usable. The whole purpose of hybrid cameras is so you don't have to go spend C200 money and can keep rigs smaller. Maybe don't leave your gear in 120 degree Florida heat.
  3. If we film the same footage with the R5 vs the S1H and R5 has Canon's secret sauce color science, then my footage will be better with the R5. Plus the missed AF shots on the S1H won't be usable. Color and image quality are still what matters to clients and to the art of film making. No one, no one cares how you get great footage. If the R5 is unusable, all of you will hear it from me.
  4. IR/far red contamination issues with RED cameras does not mean those RED owners don't address it does it? It more the fact that P6K owners on the EOS and You Tube don't see IR/far red contamination issues in P6K footage. If they are using a IR Cut filter they also clearly can't see if it's the right one to use with the P6K. It's not one size fits all or fix all. RED color science blows BM away and especially the P6K. Don't quit your day job to do stand up because you're not good at it.
  5. Yes and NO and Maybe is my response to your opinion. We don't really know how 8K from the R5-R6 image quality will be yet. The 120p @4K looks amazing. With all this spec talk the #1 goal should always be image quality. I think this gets lost because we still have the gap between hybrid cameras and cine camera image quality. No one on here has busted out the P6K or GH5 on a super cool creative job (maybe we all have but no one has shared that quest with us). This is the reason why we are still looking for the next camera with awesome specs and equal image quality. Not why the S1H, S1 or P6K don't check the boxes that would create massive sales that have mega movie productions adapting these camera as the only option. ------ Atomos Neon: 8K ProRes and ProRes RAW -------
  6. Are those clips test or for your short film? How was the AF? I can't tell if the if missed focus was on purpose. Footage looks good.
  7. I will try and do some research on image quality between the S1, S1H and Z6. Has anyone found out if they share the same sensor? I've filmed action oriented talent that AF tracking captured amazingly. How is AF tracking on the S1? Is it just focus breathing that's an issue for locked AF? I had a Panasonic rep demo the S1's AF and while he was telling me it worked perfectly, it failed on the spot. No I don't have an extra $2K a for a focus puller and rig. The one thing hybrid cameras have over cine cameras are the size and AF tracking. If Panasonic could fix this one issue then I would be sold on them.
  8. Given R6 specs and price point it seems the Z6s is positioned as a useful update. The Z6 already had IBIS and RAW out, so these new additions look better based on what Canon and I bet Sony will do. The Z6s needs to have 10bit internal recording across the board also.
  9. My bad then. By the way, the crew that filmed for me said it was an accident and not their fault.
  10. Panasonic should get credit and applauded for the engineering behind the S1H.
  11. Because people assume BM and P6K only has IR issues if they use ND's. Why do you mention Disney and me together?
  12. You still have heat generated but not nearly as much as internally. Now this would be another Atomos partnership which hasn't been as perfect as if could have been with other companies.
  13. And with most cameras external recording modes can be unlocked via firmware. You can look at the sample video I posted. Yes you need a IR filter with BM cameras but most assume it's only if you use ND filters.
  14. It's up to the crew to provide cameras that delivery usable footage. The crew did not deliver what was promised. IR pollution is on all BMP6K footage to some extent. Look at 7:00 in on this video. The right side of that dress where the sun is hitting has IR pollution cast over that dress. All scenes with that dress and direct sunlight show this. I've actually grown to hate that BMP4-6K vintage look they produce because they colors are so off.
  15. I wouldn't put to much stock in Panasonic and it's 10 bit 4:22 FF 4K data rate and image quality. The gave us 10bit on the GH5 which didn't hold up to other 10bit samples once it was compared in the real world. The same group of people at Panasonic know if they throw enough specs at the public they will over look broken AF and defend the camera until end days.
  16. Of course they are still selling them with the IR issue. Brilliant is not the word I would use for unstable color.
  17. That links does not work in the quote. I did go back and see the response you wrote about your own hdmi question. Firmware would easily unlock the other recording modes to and external recorder. Unless this isn't technically possible I'm not worried about the R5 overheating issue. External will be the way to go.
  18. We had various degrees of IR pollution issues with the P6K.
  19. Would an external recorder solve the overheating issue? Might this be the SAVE that Canon could use?
  20. I'm not here to put down anyone or defend my opinion. I'll post my work in due time. I went to art college and work the same way as others on the EOS in various fields of photography, videography and creative. We can all agree the R5 should not or cannot be used for long recording.
  21. That's a great little camera. I have 9 of them. For a minute I was thinking you were using rented cine cameras that cost to much for DP's to afford to do your interviews.
  22. Steve raves about the FP. I've been doing some home work and have to find out the cost and advantages of the FP.
  23. I'm asking what camera you use right now. Do you have a camera that you own or what cameras do you use for your interviews. That's all I'm asking.
