  1. There is talk of Viltrox even making their own camera so possibly that? If that's a PL-L mount, that is interesting...
  2. I am 99.9% sure that pic from that video is none of the above named cameras. Absolutely no way any 'cinema' camera is that small. It looks like a medium sized phone that ate a medium sized pie at best. Not unless someone has found a way to defy physics, time and space...
  3. In fact it's so small, if it is a Canon, where would they hide The Cripple Hammer?
  4. Whatever that is, it's been fed on a diet of lettuce and nothing but lettuce. How is that even a camera? It looks smaller than a Fuji X-M5...
  5. Maybe... It is for me as in my interest these days does still exist, but less than previously because all the things I have, I have because they do what I need them to do, when perhaps once, the things I had did not quite. The only thing I'm interested in currently is a new drone because my Mavic Air 2s is getting a bit old and flies a bit wonky due to err...a couple of collisions 🄓 But then I'm not really into tech beyond what I need something to do and never feel any need to have the latest phone (13 I think but not sure or really care) or MacBook (M2) or anything else. And I drive a 14 year old 150,000+ miler Skoda. I'd rather go back to a pre-2000 tech era actually where the skills were more important whereas today, there is a ton more smoke and mirrors fuckwittery to compete with...
  6. I’m betting not and despite the community crying out for it, won’t be happening any time soon, but it would be great if it did, or when it does! I’ve been doing some trials with a 2-5 stop VND on my S1Rii’s which are brilliant for hybrid shooters having 5 custom settings each for both stills and video, ie, flick one switch for stills or video and rotate one dial through 5 different custom options, and that is great and the VND starting at 2 stops makes zero real world difference when shooting stills. But how great would it be if there was some kind of auto VND internally and you could skip that whole thing? Someone has to do internal VND soon surely on full frame MILC? Maybe it will be Canon or Nikon…
  7. It didn't and I have nothing against Canon, but it's a brand I have never owned. 5 years of college and uni was all Nikon film cameras. When I worked in commercial photography for a while, Nikon film. Started my wedding career, Nikon film. Approx 5 years of Nikon digital and then 9 years of Fuji mirrorless and then was split the last couple of years between Sony & Nikon for stills and Lumix for video. The only 'problem' I have with Canon now would be cost. Sold off all my Sony & Nikon recently and went all in on Lumix and the cost to trade was somewhere around zero because I reduced the amount of bodies and lenses. If I had moved to an all Nikon set up, it would have cost me a few grand. Sony a little more. Canon a lot more, and at a rough calculation, about 15k to have the equivalent set up to what I have with Lumix and what would I gain exactly? Nada in my opinion. I guess it mostly comes down to needs, but also what level you are invested in any system and Lumix made, makes and will continue to make the most sense for my specific needs. BUT, I'm still interested in what else is out there, but more out of professional curiosity than anything. On another note, there is supposed to be news coming from the Dolomites later today regarding DJI's full frame camera and if that thing isn't just rumour, could be interesting and shake the market up a bit?
  8. I've only had the camera for 2 years and did not know that 🤯 Settings now changed!
  9. 2 years ago, I had the S1H with the battery grip and the Leica 24-90mm f2.8/4 as my principal camera. That combo weighed almost 3k and not only was that a big lump to heft about in the hand on a 12+ hour day, it could not go on a camera strap as that would have been shoulder destruction and too heavy to hang off a Spider Holster all day as even with the tightest belt... Plus any momentum and that thing banging on your thigh left bruising! In the end, I used a sturdy Holdfast leather harness AND a Spider Holster to handle it when not in hand. Compare that with my S9 + Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 at not much over 1kg and less than 2kg including freestanding monopod and what a difference! My pair of S1RII's with lenses and mic etc weigh less TOGETHER than that lump above and are far more capable. In fact, both S1RII's and the S9 which now has the 50mm f1.8 on it, all 3 together weigh approx the same as 'The Lump'! It makes a HUGE difference when working and how you feel after. I do think there is very much a Goldilocks Factor when it comes to this kind of thing and some stuff is just too big and awkward and some stuff just too small and fiddly. I feel what I have right now is that middle option that works best.
  10. Make yer bed and lie in it man! But seriously, this was always going to happen. Lumix has been on a roll in 2025, but Canon and Nikon were of course cooking something up in the background just as Sony is and sure as night follows day, today's news is tomorrow's fish & chips wrapper. Except the tools of course do not instantly become junk. I made my own decision knowing that it was almost certain no matter what Canon did, I'd never go there but Sony or Nikon could have been a very valid option. Not quite as they were or are, - too many 'missing' elements for me with Nikon, but the most likely to resolve those, possibly/probably with the ZR, - we will find out. Sony would have been the most likely as things stood a few months back, having 3 great lenses and I could have made an all FX-30 line up work. So personally, intrigued/interested in what will come and I may have some envious eyes in some regards, but I really do need stability myself now in this department after spending years of chasing the holy grail of one man band full hybrid capability. Will other kit surpass what I have? For sure... Maybe not this year but certainly by next year and no question by 2027, but my primary focus is now firmly on the creative side. It always was, but was constantly distracted and hampered by kit and logistics and now that has been removed... But for anyone already with at least a foot in the Canon camp, of course it makes sense!
  11. Cue all those who recently made, ā€˜Why I moved to Lumix’ pieces on YouRube gushing over the S1II, scrabbling for a piece of the Canon pie. Or Nikon pie. There’s 24 hours between the two so plenty of time to choose which ship to jump to next.
  12. Tamron joining would be my preference, but I suspect they are too close to Sony? But they have some really great zoom lenses especially... Their 28-75mm f2.8 is arguably pretty comparable with the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 (just moved mine to back up/static shorter option where the 70-200 is a bit much) but there is nothing within L Mount like Tamron's 70-180mm f2.8. That latter lens is much more compact and lighter than anything else available at that aperture with that focal range. Lumix's and Sigma's 70-200 may be 20mm longer, but they are fooking mahoosive in comparison. Handheld, I don't think I could go back to anything over 750g now and preferably under 500g. I tried the Sigma 28-45mm f1.8 and thought the image quality was superb, but the reality of it was a negative and real world, what can it do that the <300g Lumix 35mm f1.8 cannot? I never say never however and if they ever produced a longer focal length, internal focus, ie, non-extending sibling to the Sigma 28-45mm f1.8 such as 45-90mm f1.8, I might be interested...but I'd realistically then need a battery grip for each S1RII and in each hand, I'd go from 1278g per unit (body, battery, cards, Swiss area plate, Spider Holster thingy, MKE 200 mic, mic cable, VND) to more like +1000g per unit...which is a whole other thing and exactly what I have worked towards getting away from!
  13. Yes. Some of their full-frame 'Air' lens range look quite interesting and by interesting, I mean compact, lightweight a relatively fast. But I'm very happy personally with Lumix's own f1.8 line which are not that much bigger or heavier... I have the 50mm f1.8 pretty much welded now to my S9, which now that 2 identical S1Rii's are in the stable, has been 'relegated' to; lightweight static 'second angle' capture for stuff such as ceremonies & speeches (as long as it's not too hot and not running for too long), plus 'gimbal mode' (with full E stab on, providing you don't try and turn corners, it's not too far off). The 18 for extreme (for me anyway) stuff which is hardly ever, but 35mm and 85mm, one on each hip, now being my principal hybrid units on the S1RII's. Single S5II with battery grip still doing the long form static stuff where overheating might be a risk, or battery running out. I do wish that 6k wasn't limited to 30 mins though. Not because I 'need' to shoot ceremonies or speeches in 6k, because I deliver those to the client in 1080 still, but more because I like to use some of that footage in their wedding highlights film and it's more compatible using 6k mixed into 7.2k capture than it is the 4k that I use, but hey ho... Zero gripes with the entire system now... Yes, the AF could be better still and is not Sony level. Probably not quite Nikon and no experience of Canon so cannot comment but I suspect still better than Fuji. Yes, the body design of the S1RII and S1II could have been more 'interesting', - personally I'd rather have seen something more FX3/30 like, but they are very S1H-lite so OK. And the S9 would be better with a mech shutter and if they do ever make a Series II, it needs that and a bit of weather sealing would not go amiss and even a micro SD as a second slot like the Zf, would be welcome. As above, no 'complaints', just a couple of observations.
  14. That could be something a bit special for the hybrid shooter like me with a GFX100something on the left hip for stills and the Eterna on the right. But not next year for me...if ever, as I'm all in on what I have now...but maybe a couple of years down the road. It would depend for me just what it might bring to the table I didn't already have and as Hassie is the dream (for stills anyway), I will never again shoot on cross-platform brands other than for stuff like drone. Pretty sure that is the case and probably won't hurt their sales as most likely 99.9% who criticise the lack of video features would not buy the camera even if it did (have video capability).
  15. Yes, I was thinking the same and in 3-6 months there may indeed be some kind of (probably paid as the camera is cheaper than the older model) unlock code. And then we can get videos of mountain streams and city traffic lights as well as the photos. Yay.
  16. IBIS is good for longer duration exposures without a tripod. So for landscape photographers, use a tripod! Any serious one’s do. It helps me with slightly longer handheld exposures on jobs in lowlight, but I could also be less of a lazyarse and use a tripod. So required? Nope. So why include it? Dunno šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
  17. For me, it would simply be a ā€˜one & done’ wedding photo unit, so all these new features are a bonus. The only thing it really lacks is a fully adjustable screen for vertical shooting. A bit of a silly omission IMO. Still wouldn’t be an obstacle for me buying one as that obstacle is purely price.

    Nikon Zr is coming

Or as in my use case, there use was/is not so much to reduce moire (or the risk of), but rather to take away some of that digital look, but with the bonus of reducing, or as in my use case, eliminating it. It could also be the type of cameras, lenses, apertures, baking in a LUT, ie, a combo of a whole load of different factors all adding up to the whole, but as stated, I just have not experienced moire in a couple of years now. Next job, I'll now get a ton...but I doubt it.

    Nikon Zr is coming

Well I am not going to stake my life on it, but as far as I am aware, the S5II definitely does not and neither do the S1II, S1RII and that other one, the E? Pretty confident though… There is a company called Kolari (or something like that) that make some kind of clip in filter though.
  20. Ah well, if you had a proper understanding of time & space theory, you would understand that by meddling with time, you would create an alternative reality and someone like failed businessman Donald Trump could one day become president of the USA…and then we’d all be fucked. Phew, luckily for us, that documentary turned out to be a fake and they made up the entire story!

    Nikon Zr is coming

The only Lumix camera that has an OLPF as far as I am aware, is the S1H I don’t have anymore. It’s just not something I have any concerns about as I just don’t ever see it. There has been the odd time I think I have and a quick zoom in or out shows it is only at a specific size in editing software vs I suppose, my specific screen size, but otherwise does not exist and certainly not in the end result. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

    Nikon Zr is coming

How can it be luck? That's approx 100,000 frames of photography and approx 15,000 5-15 second clips of video (plus another 60 hours of static capture). For the photo side, that has been with; Sony A7RV, Nikon Zf, Lumix S1H and Lumix S1RII. Video, Lumix S5II, S1H, S9 shooting Vlog with LUT baked in. (Except S1H which has OLPF but no facility to bake in LUT). It's just my experience, - what can I say? You have experienced something else, but that doesn't make my experience invalid. What are these cameras of yours that are moire prone?

Well I don’t know about the science of wave frequencies or anything at that macro tech level, but can confirm with 100% integrity that using a 1/8th mist reduces or eliminates moire. Because I use them on every lens all the time, for both photo and video and never have moire in either and I mean never. That’s hours and hours of capture plus thousands of exposures, every job, for 2+ years. There are possibly certain material types under certain lighting conditions where it might be forced, but I have not come across it in years. All my VND’s are Freewell 2-5 stop with built in 1/8th mist and for very low light when an ND is not needed, 1/8th mist Firecrest Bloom Gold. There is a trade off of course and that is a lowering of contrast, but I can not only live with that, but prefer it because it all adds up to part of my SOOC ā€˜filmic’ (less digital) look for video and the base of my ā€˜filmic’ (more real film-like) look for photo (which being raw requires a lot more editing than my video work). But otherwise moire has not existed in my world since the OG Lumix S5, so 2022.
  24. I’d have gone with X1D3PO myself. But otherwise I guess they are filling that niche of pure photo camera? I’d have one as a my ā€˜one & done’ along with the new zoom lens, but I couldn’t justify the cost. Instead, 2x S1RII’s + 4 faster primes than the Hassie lens, for a total of approx 1/2 the price (paid approx €2800 for each of my S1RII’s and 3 of my lenses purchased used) and I can shoot 7.2k 30p open gate video. I haven’t looked at a single Hassie review yet, but will in time, just for curiosity, but it still won’t ever be happening for me.
