  1. So do I understand this right that I could set up one of these BP-TRXs with a Lavalier and simultaneously send the Audio to another BR-TRX but also to the DUO-RX, so having two Receivers getting the same Audio signal? And in another Scenario have two BP-TRXs set up as Transmitters to send two different Audio-Signals to the DUO-RX while also recording the Audio on both?
  2. Well for 8k raw recording, the limiting factor for now will probably be the Cards capacity anyway. If the datarate corresponds to that of the current Canon raw-formtas, 30 Min of 8k raw recording would require 900GB of space on your card...
  3. Yes, I agree. For grading, compositing and probably even Audio finishing/fine tuning Resolve is a more feature rich application. Also I would't I say Resolve is a bad application for editing, I haven't done enough editing in it to judge that. In my experience FCPX is simply very good for editing, for "assembling" a film. And in this regard especially good for doc work and anything that requires lots of organizing and preparation before doing the first cut... I'd bet that any movie I edited in FCPX would have taken way longer in Premiere, with way more crashes during editing. But yeah, I personally hate Premiere from the bottom of my heart and find it very frustrating that Apple messed up the launch of FCPX so badly that Premiere could become an industry standard.
  4. Should be 4gbs if compression is same as in C200/1DX. Edit: which would mean not much more than 4 minutes of recording on a 128GB card if my math is right. Crazy...
  5. Haha, this is probably the most used argument for the lack of video features in past Canon cameras 😂 Pretty sure I used that one too at some point.
  6. As a non english native: are „sleeper features“ something positive? Or something unspectacular?
  7. Completely agree with your impression that FCPX is very good for quick turnaround work, but I'm curious for your assumption Resolve might be better for docs. My impression is FCPX especially shines in doc work where you spent a lot of time organizing, tagging, transcribing etc. For me the media management capabilities of FCPX are still unmatched by all other NLEs I know (can't speak about Avid). That, its multicam feature and the integration with Motion 5 for me are very good arguments for FCPX. If it comes to Audio though...
  8. For me a big advantage of AF is speed. Touch what you want in focus, then press AF Lock. If needed, do small adjustments with MF. Often I’ll nail focus way faster this way compared to full MF. I’d say this is how I shoot 80% of docu style stuff.
  9. I haven‘t yet given up all hope for a firmware update that brings a 10bit codec to the C200 (that might bring CLog2 too). But yeah... probably never gonna happen. But if the C200 had that, I think I‘d be served for the next 5 years...
  10. Yes, if it works like on the C200, that should be the case for raw footage. But I was talking about the encoded formats. I think Canon left out Clog2 on the C200 (for non-raw shooting) because it is designed for 10bit files... The C300 II has it. And it is very, very flat. For certain scenarios it would be usefull on the 1DX III too I‘d say.
  11. EIS does not seem to work as good as on the C500 II. But otherwise it looks like a very impressive camera to me. I do wonder though why there‘s no C-Log 2 and C-Log 3...
  12. So then it‘s a question of heat generated by the sensor? Don‘t get my wrong, I‘m no engineer, but it does‘t seem logic that a processor has more work to do when processing information from a bigger sensor compared to a smaller one. 32mp is 32mp... is it not? I don‘t know about the S1H but on the C200 the fan does only start after 25 or so minutes of recording. And it has two processors inside... With the R5 having a newer processor and probably a recording limit, 8k does not seem entierly impossible...
  13. What is the physical reality of 8k? Consider there‘s now a Samsung Smartphone shooting 8k and working Sharp prototypes with 8k MFT-sensors. Both (I assume) with smaller form factors than the R5. There probably will be a limit for 8k recording: 30min best case, maybe less, if we look at the 1DX3. A crop is not really possible since there aren’t many (if any) pixels left to leave out. The way Canon promoted this Camera only months after the 1DX3 anouncement is a clear indication for more than a „sticker on the box“ feature. Nonetheless: those hoping for 8k RAW/ProRes will have to prepare for disapointment. Maybe 10bit with H.265 compression but I‘m not betting any money on that. C-Log is a given. The deciding question for me: what will the 8k feature mean for the 4k modes...?
  14. None of the japanese companies ever implemented ProRes in a DSLR or mirrorless camera. And nothing indicates this will change with the R5. Would it be nice? Sure! But sometimes you have to ask where such strange expectations come from. At least they‘re not based on any logical assumption or reality.
  15. Completely agree! Let‘s hope the rumored specs are not too far off. And once these cameras are released, the EOS R will probably fade away, maybe even the RP. Although that one might stay as the lowest budget option...
  16. Not only based on MP, but based on the name and the rumored specs too. Following Canons DSLR naming logic, what you hope for would be the R1.
  17. Nothing in the rumour indicates this. I hope your right but would bet you’re not. If you‘re really expecting raw on a lower range Canon, prepare for disapointment.
  18. So what I stated right above your post is not true then? The patent has no reference to compression ratio? I thought I had read that somewhere, but could be mistaken...
  19. No, they just don‘t compress enough. Red patent is for compression ratios of 1:6 and higher. Canon Raw is 1:3 or something in that ballpark. But don‘t expect Raw on the rumored R6. It looks like this is a budget model rather than a filmmakers dream...
  20. Sometimes one must be a smartass: hoping for a 180 degree shift so we‘re not back at where we‘re now after shifting... 😬
  21. No need to fear for a giant crop factor IF the rumored specs are true. Not many pixels to crop for 8k on a 40-45 mp sensor...
  22. Dream on. With the rumored specs: $4000+ that‘s my bet.
  23. Well, it‘s still a good camera, no matter what Canon is releasing. I think this rumors are mainly good news for Canon shooters, a sign their brand might start to appreciate the needs of the video crowd a bit more. Something Panasonic is doing anyway since years. Is that really a common thing: switching brand/equipment every time a new „best of class“ camera drops?
  24. I'm with you and have serious doubts myself, but let's not forget canon announced their plans for an 8k camera shortly after the launch of the EOS R. From an Imaging Resource interview with Canon a year ago: So who knows, maybe they are indeed ready to deliver on their promise...? While I don't see why 8K should be important to them or to anybody at all, if that spec also brings us closer to 4k 120p in those cameras, I'm all for it...
  25. There are now also specs for a Canon R6 on CanonRumors: These look a bit more realistic to me than those of the R5... 8K raw and 4K 120p in a Canon mirrorless body? Sounds too good to be true... Could that even work without a fan considering the S1H has one for 6K recording?
