FYI, There's a bluetooth app to control the camera, but no liveview or focusing options.

They are open to people developing their own apps though, so maybe that's something we'll see in the future ( @BTM_Pix ?)

Well, that's already been answered a while ago. it'll be 1.9x crop. I was just pointing out that they've been doing some testing with the non-camera-specific speedboosters, hich is promising... will likely save Metabones from making a new one specially, and current owners having to buy new ones to fit. Win win.

While you guys are arguing over nothing again - BM seem to still have some tests to do.

I guess that since the 0.64x Speedbooster works, it's fairly reasonable to assume the 0.71x will as well right? Of course real test would be better, but to me this kind of sounds like if the left shoe fits, the right one will too. Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong?

EDIT: A major retailer in Holland just opened up the ability to pay 100% for this camera. To me that says they're pretty confident that they can deliver when expected (sometime in September) - But I'm failing to see the advantage of paying in full now and preordering... maybe it bumps up the queue.

I thought that might be the case, but as the saying goes - if you don't ask, you don't know.

Not sure if you noticed, but BMD have stated that this camera will come with 1 battery in the box. The above quote kinda sounds like you're saying that it doesn't come with any battery, so wanted to clarify. Sure one won't last too long,  but LPE6 batteries are so cheap. If you don't already have any they're like €30 for 2 and a charger. Or like said, you could go the external power route at a later date.

My point is, you can use the camera out of the box. I'm fairly confident that even the 95mbps Sandisk cards will be able to handle LT and maybe even 422 at 25/30p. I'd say most of us here have those cards or something similar, so can shoot on the very first day the camera arrives without having to buy anything extra.

Why not fisheye? The crop will crop out most of the distortion. Sure it will look a little different to a linear wide angle, but not too much.

Edit:

This is a from a clip I shot with a JVC LS300 testing the 120fps mode. I'm not sure of the crop factor in that setting, but the lens is a EF mount Samyang 8mm fisheye with a dumb adaptor (not speedbooster) As you can see, there's no distortion at all.

One thing I would note though, about that Tascam recorder is that there's no Phantom power, which can be limiting, depending on what kind of mics you're wanting to use. A great alternative is the Saramonic VRM1.

It's perfect for those short films with no crew, as since most shotguns need power (although some do have their own batteries) you can stick an NTG on it, power the mic through the recorder and bam, essentially you have wireless boom.

Modern pop music. There's still plenty of people experimenting. And even then, there are those like Childish Gambino or St. Vincent, who're pretty wild, while still attracting the popular audiences. I was also going to say that, but it's turned out to be the right decision with more people speaking up about him. On the flip side though, they do have a lot of those mid-budget films popping up. In fact, I remember something about 'Annihilation' not getting a studio release because it was too weird or something. Netflix jumped in to distribute it, and it's well within the top 10 best movies on the service - if not, dare I say, of the year as a whole.

Another reason most modern music sucks is because the music industry is making the distribution formats worse, and targeting the wrong groups. mp3s and streaming is the norm now, and that quality simply can't compete with Vinyl or CD quality. Movies have gone from VHS to Bluray and beyond. There's no question watching a movie at home is getting better, while listening to music is getting worse (unless you pay more or seek out older, outdated formats).

Similarly, services like Netflix, HBO and even Marvel with their new R-rated movies and Disney with their darker live action reimagining target adults who have disposable income, and make the content for them. Music studios target young teens, who don't have so much money, and buy one song at a time on iTunes or pay a cheap monthly subscription, which leaves little to pay the artists who make the music in the first place. 

Well, it's a shame, sure. But James Gunn isn't going to stop making movies.

Over the last few years, mid budget movies have hit a slump. They're either 100 millions dollar blockbusters or indies. Maybe this, and other examples like it, will be the start of a resurgence in mid range movies.

If the best directors in the game can't make the huge summer movies, they'll get funding elsewhere for other projects where they really can be artists, without having to please board members.

That's what I thought too, but the guy in the video I posted, shows that if the native is 800,  but the camera can go lower (400 or 200) those might give cleaner images at the cost of DR, but 400 is the perfect balance.

I guess we'll wait and see.

Is this likely to apply to the Pocket 4K? In the video, he says although URSA Mini Pro 4.6k has a native ISO of 800, you'll get a cleaner, more malleable image at 400.

With the P4K's dual ISO of 800 and 1600, would it be reasonable at this time to assume that you're better off shooting at 400 and 1200?

Does this also apply to the GH5s, since it also has dual ISO?

I wonder how that's going to change once ProRes RAW is more available and has been tested a bit more. Fair enough, I was just going by the product details. Seems strange to under estimate the speed so much haha. 

This seems like the best card, speed for money wise. I also like that they print the read and write on the face - makes me trust them somehow. At least a lot more than those who hide their speeds. Reviews are also very good.

FYI: I did find that the camera's USB Type-C can be used for external drive recording, software updates and media download. So, for those wondering, like myself, readers aren't mandatory to get started.

I don't know much, but the read/write speeds seem to suggest it'll work just fine.

SanDisk is 500MB/s write and Samsung is 515MB/s write. I can't imagine the difference being enough to worry about

I like the little loop in the corner, make's for a nice place to connect the drive to the camera, minimising risk of losing a connection. 

Looks cool. Full cage looks a bit cumbersome to me. I'm sure they've thought about it, but I feel like it'll get in the way of all those buttons on the top. Would be nice to see a top view.
