  1. I ordered the vlogging kit. I like the portability and the camera has some nice features. I wish the lens was a little wider; however, the camera is pretty light and I can easily get the wide angle I need with a selfie stick.

You know political discourse is in the trash when people assume anyone that agrees with their views are the "intelligent" ones.

Just further proof that everything is constantly dumbed down by people on all sides because actual discourse and the exchange of ideas isn't conducive to the political environment they want, where political parties and ideology are like sports teams and the people on the opposing team are stupid, or hate their country.

I was a little over the top.  I should have said, "Those who follow the political climate closely...."

  3. That's the great thing about filmmaking: There's no right or wrong, only tastes. What is good for one filmmaker will be different for another, whether it be plot, script, acting, even color. MCU movies are great to okay in my opinion. But so are some of the Scorsese movies. Raging Bull is great, but I know several people who can't understand why anyone would want to watch a black and white movie about a washed up Italian boxer.

  4. This looks like the perfect solution for someone like me who would like to shoot some vlogs and match footage shot with an x-t3. I notice that it's will have a 2.5mm microphone jack with a supplied 3.5mm adapter. Does that setup cause any noticeable loss of sound quality?

No offense but this is very basic Amazon shopping "skill".  Avoid any other vendor other than ships and sold by Amazon.

(Unless it's a company selling it's own goods on Amazon.)

What is the point of this post? You got burned because you bought from a crappy source and now blaming Amazon... Same thing can happen at eBay or Alieexpress or wherever you are deal hunting...

You might want to boycott Amazon for other reasons (warehouse working conditions) but this is just silly.

The point of the post is that Amazon can say it sells US products with a warranty when the product is totally different than what is advertised.  It's more than a shopping skill.  It's like going to car dealer for a Lexus and getting a Kia with a supposed Lexus warranty; and then when the car breaks down, discovering that the dealership completely lied and that there was no Lexus to begin with and therefore no warranty exists. Obviously at a dealership, one can look at the car. But that's not available online.  One has to trust the dealer/seller.  The point is that Amazon is a convenient but not a reputable dealer.

As you will notice, the watch was purchased June 2 and Amazon guarantees that it is a US version with warranty.

  6. This is a warning that many of you may already heed.

My experience: In the past I've learned to be wary of Amazon vendors.  Some will sell international versions of cameras that are not supported in the US, for example. Last summer my wife and I purchased two Samsung Gear Fit2 watches.  Mine stopped working the first weekend in November.  I sent it in. Samsung responded today that they cannot fix the watch because it is an international model and will need to be shipped to Italy for repair. This week I thought of purchasing a second X-T3 from Amazon rather than from B and H. I'm glad I didn't make that mistake.

  7. That said, it's what my work provides and now I've got a problem. I've edited a three minute video shot on a Sony X70, 422 XAVC.  However, the encoding dialogue box says that export time is estimated at one hour and forty minutes.  I don't recall this problem before the most recent update.  What can I do--knowing that I have to use Premiere--to speed up the process?

Do you shoot narratives with that combo? I am the one weirdo not worried about the FF Panasonic and hoping they announce an FZ5000 or FZ5. It’s been 2 years since the FZ2500 was announced and 2 years before that the FZ1000 came out. As the FZ2500 gave us a lot of the video functions from the GH4, I’m hoping an update will give us those GH5 features. I’ll happily stop looking and buy that camera at release.

I shoot primarily real estate profiles and events with the combo.  If timing follows past patterns, then an FZ2500 update should be announced within the next two months or so. I'd probably go for the FZ2500 update as well, depending on the FF's price and lens availability.

How do you like the combo? The DVX looks amazing, with the bigger sensor, but may be a touch more than I want to spend... do you shoot a lot of narratives with the combo and if so, what are your thoughts?

I’m pretty familiar with the FZ2500. After buying and selling two of them, I always wish I had kept it... just something unique about that camera... it’s probably the 1080p quality and the push button slow motion. Yup that’s it.

I really like the combo.  I used to use an A7sii with a Sony F4.0 28-135mm PZ lens and an XLR-K2M as my main camera and an A6500 as my primary combo. I still use the A7sii for low light. But I wanted something more traditional for a main camera. I thought about getting a Sony Z90 or a Z150, and I've always liked Panasonic. Hence, my decision to purchase the DVX200 and to move toward Panasonic cameras.  I like the convience and colors of an FZ2500.  I may purchase a GH4, GH5, or GH5s in the near future; however, I'm waiting to see what the camera announcement on the 25th has to offer.  My biggest complaints about the DVX200 are the LCD sucks outdoors and the internal Vlog is unusable because of banding.
