Yeah in theory that should be the case, in reality it simply isn't. Most companies outsource to China for cost & volume ramping and that has significant effect on QC. That's just the way it is.. and XT3 is certainly proof of that. We're talking serious hardware malfunctions, glue smells etc. Never were these problems ever noticed on any MIJ fuji cam. The Fuji plant in Sendai is also notorious to take QC to an extreme level: I just don't see that type of infrastructure / QC in China. Besides with coronavirus related production issues, I'd rather not be too dependant on China with my gear at the moment..

When Fuji shifted production from Japan to China on XT3 there were quite a couple lemon units. That wasn't nearly the case with XT2. Quality Control just isn't the same. Anyways, are you saying XT4 country of origin is random?

wtf just noticed this: ..different manufacturing depending on color or do you think the made in Japan is pre-sample model only? I usually always get black version but would go silver if it means MIJ..

I shot Fuji for pro work during 2 years. In my experience the AF results were really dependant on two things: the glass used & the available light. I like to shoot with fast glass and that was always a problem, but more dependant on the lens design then cameras AF. I'd really like it if Fuji redesigned their fantastic 23mm F1.4, 35mm F1.4 & 56mm 1.2mm primes for video AF. Those lenses weren't made with video in mind as Fuji bodies hardly shot any video at the time those were released. If I were to enter Fuji system again today, I would probably acquire the F2 WR lenses, but I already know they aren't close to having the mojo of their faster older lenses..

Nice to finally see an AF-ON button & still/movie sub dials ! šŸ¤—

While I agree nobody forces anyone to upgrade.. there is a very real difference in between XH1 & XT3. XH1 has IBIS, XT3 has 10-bit. Depending on usage, either one could be essential. Personally, I wanted both features plus extra battery life. So I'm glad I skipped XH1/XT3 and will probably grab an XT4 ASAP! Not holding my breath for XH2 though..

^Agreed. Most of my clients don't have a clue what I'm shooting with. Could I get by with a 5D3? Probably, most of my deliveries are still in FHD. New gear can be inspiring though and the features they bring are useful to me as a DP. XT2/XH1 has a 0.2x crop when shooting 4K. So you're really at 1.7x instead of true 1.5x APS-C/Super35 like XT3/XT4 has. Again, no client would ever notice that but it does make a difference when composing. I personally skipped XH1/XT3 coming from an XT2 but will probably pick up an XT4. I just love those dials, overall IQ and lack of OLPF on X-Trans sensors.
  11. Well FWIW: Canon started out as an optical company.. they had their first 35mm camera in the 30ā€™s... VS sony, a consumer electronics company that made their first full frame camera... in 2008! History aside, Canon still makes all their full frame cameras in Japan, including sensors. This should in theory keep them safer from production delays than the competition (1DX3 for example is only missing the made in China card reader).
  12. well that's what you get for buying cameras from a gaming company šŸ¤£ welcome to the club, I bought mine second hand last year. strongly recommend shooting in cine EI and set up in camera LUT to Venice CS (you can find the LUTs in google search). WB remains the tricky part..

Certainly, however the fact XT4 uses same sensor, processor, video resolution, codec, AF etc.. makes it feel rather incremental than next-level (like the jump from XT1 to XT2 to XT3). The main enhancements are basically hardware (IBIS, flip screen, battery). It's cool, I might even get one; but its understandable others may be underwhelmed..

Never had that problem in my 3 years with XT2. I personally like stills/video toggle switches, however I hated how far apart the movie mode was to single shot stills in the sub-dial. Kinda sounds like that has been "fixed" in the new sub dial config. Pricing is smart, like I said anything above 1700 mark and it would have been a hard sell. Only thing I'm kind of bummed about is the flip screen, much preferred the tilt mechanism from previous cams.

I hope IBIS doesn't bring the price up too much. X100V went up to 1500ā‚¬. I'm guessing 1800-2000ā‚¬ for the XT4 but I'm hoping I'm wrong. At that price or above, it would be kinda hard for an APS-C camera to really compete with FF imo.

@colepat just a LUT example of the film sim look, it is expected to come: EXCLUSIVE: Fujifilm X-T4 Coming with New Bleach Bypass Film Simulation, 15 fps CH, 1.62m dots Screen and More Specs Leaked
  17. That option is in the Canon RAW software & supported NLEā€™s like Resolve. However there is on C200 a CLog3 option in camera for MP4. Does appear 1DX3 is Clog only for now.

    New bleach bypass film sim..
  19. Agreed. 1DX will remain its own thing. I think the R5 is the new 5D & R6 the new 6D. That said R5 with its high MP & class-leading 8K resolution really places it in a "flagship" position in the market right now. A lot of new tech from Canon is being put into this camera (IBIS, new sensor, new processor, 8K..) so price wise I'm expecting something in between a 5D & 1DX. But who knows. I doubt we will get FF 8K no crop in RAW or 10-bit. If they do, price will be astronomical. Personally, I'm just looking forward to nice oversampled no crop 4K in a solid codec. 8K is really just gravy on top.
  20. As a "pro flagship" camera I think you can expect much much better specs than a 500D or Nikon 1 ever intended to have. Price point will also go accordingly. Those hoping for 8K 12:1 compressed RAW / ProRes / 10-bit 444 for $1,999 are going to be thoroughly disappointed. When Canon introduced 4K with the 1DC in 2012 for $15,000... it was MJPEG and 1.3x crop. That said I'm pretty confident we're looking at $3,500-4,500 tops. This camera sits in between a 5D & 1DX. Above $5K they are pricing themselves out of the market. 8K/12K or whatever included.
  21. Let's hope you aren't right about that.. https://www.photo-mirgain.lu/appareils-photo/hybrides/canon-eos-r/canon-eos-r5-boitier šŸ˜±
  22. Product page is up: https://www.canon.co.uk/cameras/eos-r5/ No new spec info but interesting they are touting R5 as their ā€œprofessional full frame mirrorless flagship cameraā€. Lets hope that means little to no compromises!
  23. Cool, I checked last night but couldnā€™t find the feature.. only later to realize my video clips were FHD! (I rarely shoot 4K on EOS R because of the crop). Dā€™Oh!
