Finally got mine through. I've done a few blind test shots with some old Angeniuex glass and the picture quality is superb.
It's going to be a shitter to rig properly though...

I shoot some music videos at 30p, with the synch music sped up to match, and edit at 24p. It gives everything a little more "weighty" feel. Moving hair gets a little more float to it. I also tend to do steadicam shots at 30p if there's no dialogue - not every single one but if the feel of the edit calls for it, it makes things feel a little more "floaty" or adds some gravitas or emotion. Subtle but there. You can always speed it up since you're throwing frames away vs. creating from scratch.
Timewarp and Twixtor - when they work they work, and when they can't do it, it hurts. Great slowmo and suddenly someone's hand or hair turns to a deformed alien morph-thing. If you shoot specifically for those plugins, you need fallback just-in-case takes as well.
I've gotten better results with Timewarp (I don't own twixtor) with 4K footage - more pixels for the software to chew on I suppose - it's all about detail with those. Motion blurs can be a huge problem, too. So figure on more light for those shots and up your shutter speed.
The micro cinema cam does 60p which slows down nicely, you might look into that, especially if you already own a pocket-specific speedbooster.

This is a cool test with the bmcc with Davinci's twixtor-like tool. Probably only works this well because there's so little movement. And there's twixtor.
Or you could do choppy slowmo which is good enough for Tarantino and others. Depends on the situation. If it's in a good story, I might not even notice it

Oh yeah! Many filmmakers like to mimic optically printed slow-mo which is essentially doubling frames to slow things down to half speed. For many, many decades this was the only available method for post slow motion. And I actually prefer its analog feel to most optical flow post slow motion, especially when it's digital artifacts are obvious.

If you don't need the 60p, for $500 the BMPCC is amazing.

For music videos you could need it, especially if you shoot a story besides the playback.
I had the Pocket and now  have the Micro: the quality is similar, you could intercut them and none could tell which is which.
The Pocket has the monitor, so it is more easy to use without rig, the Micro has not, but the battery life is definitely better. With Pocket you need a lot of batteries to shoot for a day, because they last just 30-40 minutes.
For 500 dollars anyway the Pocket is a great buy.

@jgharding would have raised so much money he'd be able to bribe the head of business planning of Arri to sell him one.

But i thought "black magic" & "wait" were almost equivalent  for new products. You should have your Alexa by now

If I had a pound for every time I'd read "wait" and "Black Magic" together in the same thread, I could buy and Alexa 65.

Oh, wait a minute, I'm getting something through...

I see... a shape... it's in the sky... no wait... it belongs on the sky but isn't... it's a STAR...
Let me get a clearer picture... "Please insert another 50 ct"
<inserts coin> Ah yes! The star isn't in the sky... it's on a tile on the floor... I think it must be the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Zach, as this is happening in the future, this must mean that you... you...
I see you playing tourist in LA. Get some napkins too. You're gonna spill some icecream on the Walk.
Zoltar thanks you and wishes you a prosperous future!

I for one, am grateful for cinegain's humor. And I agree, sitting here waiting for a possible sale that has happened only ONCE before, is kind of silly. So either hold your horses another while and use what you already own, or just get what's available at the moment for the price it's sold. 995 for either pocket or micro cinema is actually really cheap considering value. Bmpcc's accessories today is really cheap too.
