I don't foresee the global shutter being a major deal.  BM have a pattern though.  One that screws with you emotionally, lol.  Announce a game changing camera at an awesome price point.  Everyone preorders.  Announce it's superior before it ships.  Cancel preorders.

    repeat.

I'm considering moving all of my videos to YouTube.
That's coming from someone who actually loves Vimeo.
I still pay for my account to provide the download option so people can download the ProRes file to get a better idea of quality, and the community there is better quality too which tends to lead to a more constructive thread under the video in terms of comments... although sometimes a little TOO polite!
Sadly I don't think Vimeo have had their eye on the ball recently in terms of growing the site in an interesting way. Facebook groups have sucked the life out of the Vimeo groups and YouTube is sucking away the traffic. I know that if I upload something to YouTube it's going to get double or triple the attention.
So yeah, challenges ahead for Vimeo and they need a more interesting direction... but let's not knock what they've created.
Vimeo On Demand was interesting too... good to be able to make money from our work this way.

The D750 is an amazing hybrid camera, yes, and most folks like the handing, operations, features, and, critically, colors better than the S II.
For what it's worth, I have an NX1 and S II, and unlike Mattias, I kept the S II for both 4k and 1080p quality and integrity.  I don't shoot with SLOG and I don't shoot with a tripod very often, and the latter factor played into my decision a lot.
D750, X-Pro2, NX1, E-M5 II even - they all are less predictable than the S II with artifacts and handling of patterns in all modes - it's just the way it is.  But they also are better stills cameras, with more neutral color science.
    Pick your poison!

Na, it don't   I'd own it if it did

Quite a bit of moire, and the S II is cleaner yet
Wonderful camera, and a valiant effort by Nikon in video.
But side by side its 1080p is worse in every mode, every frame rate

Although, I already have all of those things, because the same goes for using a BMPCC or GH4 for that matter. I'm just missing that camera now. When you can opt between global shutter 30p and rolling shutter 60p, there's nothing quite like it, atleast at the pricepoint especially. Then those thick juicy DNG RAW or ProRes files with excellent qualities and color. Great looking grain structure. Doesn't get much better than that, even if just at 1080p.

    I can
D750 has less moire and than the a7sii and a very clean 60p. Not the same as 120p but not so bad either.

viranikenya reacted to Oliver Daniel in My first music video shot on A7SII is finally released!
So yep... I've been shooting with the A7SII pretty extensively on a bunch of music videos.
This particular video is narrative-only, shot in Whitby UK within 6 hours with a crew of 5 people including make up artist.
My duties? I wrote the idea, shot, lit, graded and edited the video in FCPX.
Most of the video was shot in natural light. One night scene was lit with Lupolux Dual LEDs and Scorpion Lights, powered by batteries (lifesaver!). The sun was going down quick and we used the A7SII up until ISO 12,800.
Picture profiles were custom Slog2 profile and also custom Cine2, shot in 4k 25fps.
We used the Sony CLM-FHD monitor on the camera (very useful). Would never used the camera without a monitor again unless desperate. Camera remains light and easy to use.
Gimbal shots were on the Ronin-M, with the full IBIS activated with the Sony Vario-Tessar 24-70mm - operated in upright mode. Fantastic combination.
Handheld lenses were Sigma 18-35mm (used at 35mm), Samyang 14mm and Helios 44-2 85mm (bloody well hard lens to focus!).
This video wouldn't of been possible to shoot in 6 hours without the A7SII. The aesthetic helped the video with it's murky look, and the portability with IBIS was awesome. Helped keep us on our toes and be creative with the shots.
Issues? I went through 9 batteries and er, the zip on my coat broke and er... I got a wet ass?... that's about it.
I'll let you guys decide what you think the story is about and all that jazz.
    Hope you enjoy it!!
