  1. I am going to make a little carbon fibre visor to sheld of the vents from eating stuff it shouldn't. I wonder why they didn't put them at the exact place but on the bottom? Afraid I might get into a crazy freak accident being scalped, safety first boys ;D
  2. I simply could not find it on the tech info sheet of the product. Surly it's a long way till it ships.
  3. Well, it would be great to get the highest possible amount of fps without windowing. No idea about the tech necessary. Didn`t the gh4 did something like 96fps (no idea about cropping)? For me it is great to slow stuff down. I have FF 60p now if my 50mm becomes 100mm it is for me a not so desireable workflow. I love to have windowed 120fps, am blown away by it rather. But I will probably shoot surfing with it, something where the added reach is also desireable, or at least where I don't have to go back and forth between cropping in.
  4. Regarding HFR the website states that it shoots the usual stuff in up to 1080p60. BUT nothing between windowed 120fps and 60fps. It would be great to have at least another threshold of whatever fps before it crops in....
  5. Uhhhhh, this looks so excellent. I can't wait to horse around with LUTs It is a butt ugly beast - no trophy wife material here, but hey don't judge a camera by its cover. It's the inner values innit?
  6. Puh, long thread for a family man. Been eyeing up the old pockets, BUT this release is mind blowing in several ways if you want to fiddle with thick files. Shame I am one of those random event jesters. Still for the price plus Resolve,....... F***ing hell, seems like a give away, INSANE! Hopefully one can get one before christmas while not preordering...
  7. I hate sony. but they surely got me listening now...the price point and features go right up the chocolate chimey of Nikon and Canon. Featurwise everthing I will ever need.....
  8. so scared to post something, uhh...anyway this is what I came up with (edit: ...AND it looks far more redish than on my screen baahhhh) Ahhh you have to click on it and it gets less eyesore
  9. Sure is overkill. For this whole random event shooting aka. runandgun etc... something like a IBIS AF machine sure is the way to go. This is what I always miss when I try to be low key but wanting to be high key in outcome. It can be done but I am to wiggly of a bugger. The d850 has optical and electronic VR if you shoot with newer lenses personally, and I don't shoot very expensive cinema glass, I love all the of the AIS lenses I had so far and I doubt that 105 1.4, 135 2, are dogs. Had the 180 2.8 and it was outragous although I hardly used the AIS I still want to get the AF version of that lens again to use it for fashion stuff and so on...
  10. apparently focus peaking is only in HD.
  11. I still would love to see what the dual VR can do ( VR + digiVR). I would not mind the d850 but its slightly out of my league and I don't and can't process the huge photo file sizes....
  12. For me its pretty much dead. Player 90% of the times crashes when I try to change bandwith setting to play in 1080. Sometimes it does not play at all. I mean this is at their core business, playing videos, no matter for business or hobby...
  13. @Andrew Reidburning to hear if you still got the d850 and if yes how is it going for you? I would love to hear what 120fps and "dual" IS (digital and VR) is doing for you. ALSO, would die to see a sick video done with it like you did with the NX1 in Portugal.
  14. @Andrew Reid I would be super interested how this beast is working with old glass? I have heard a lot that high res cameras need "new" glass to make use of the resolving power but it would be great to have a kind of A-B comparison of that. Body wise the d850 is ticking all the boxes for me but I think it is a bit of resolution overload. No idea what lenses you have that fit the F mount but if you fancy it I can let you have a play with my old 28. 2.8 AIS, 50 1.2 AI and 85 1.4 Af-d...
  15. I would like to lens wack my Nikon d750. What lens should I get? A Contax?
  16. I think "Nikon testers" is an oxymoron. Personally I think their menu(s) are quite flawed specially when you jump in and out of Liveview. I doubt they do proper User testing sessions. It should be easy giving you a couple of monies and let you fondle it abit would increase usability by far but who am I saying this to....
  17. Hey Andrew, sorry if you know this already. Not sure if there are any "i" buttons on the d850? On my d750 there is one on the right side of the cam which lets you toggle screen overlays in live view. This lets you remove (pretty much) any overlay but the red rectangle. The other "i" button on the left lets you open a sub menu to change different things, including framerate, while in live view.... Does this work on the d850? Best.
  18. Ok, then just over shoot everything, keep the camera running between takes and do the tripping cameraman ducking for cover thing.
  19. It is mindblowing how many external pages/cookies/skripts are loaded on many many websites. I am using uMatrix, I am sure there are many other browser add-ons like that, which show how many pages/cookies/scripts are loaded and from which sites. This Eoshd thread is trying to load (three external scripts and two external css sheets): www.eoshd.com fonts.googleapis.com gstatic.com fonts.gstatic.com redditmedia.com embed.redditmedia.com google-analytics.com viglink.com cdn.viglink.com Not saying there is something wrong with it. Just saying, to know is to care. Load the german news paper Die Zeit and be spooked on how many third party sites are having their fingers in there. Secondly, yes the internet is fucked.
  20. I think @Andrew Reid is looking at it from a real world 'perspective'. You are all probably right but apllied this means that you shoot with a 24mm lens 3m away from the subject and then crop in later to gain the same perspective/framing as you would be shooting with a 85mm from the same distance? This sounds like a stupid idea just to proof the point of "same perspective". Also the idea of shooting with a 2x crop chip and use a F0.6 to blur out the background. Are there lenses with an fstop like that? So my question would be: Can you copy the same shot/framing/perspective and DOF with medium format and lens of 50mm F2.8 wide open compareable on an MFT camera without speedbooster and croping, etc.? I mean physically what lens would you shoot with that really exist? I can't do the math really but wouldn't this be in need of something roughly around 25mm F0.7?
  21. For that creamy dreamy look, I love it :D also keeps the focusring lubricated when manically racking.
  22. It is better to get your stuff in front of ten right people that in front of 10.000 lurkers on Instagram. No one gives a damn what you publish on Vimeo, etc... unless you can make it seen. For this you need some kind of credible release plattform (film festival, fashion show, exhibition, features etc.... Collaborations with other circles work for us pretty well to get new people recognise what we are doing....
  23. I shoot the Heliopan Vario ND for 4 years and it was working very well. The only other tip I have is get the biggest filter you can e.g. 77mm. You can always step up to the filter but step down you can't!
  24. There will be frame variable shutter speeds or some other trick and of coure sharpness and aperature is freely selectable in post...:o
  25. I think there are two major points that might keep Nikon alive for like the next 30 years or so. Firstly, It is not just the Camera that has the latest whoohaaa, it is also Lenses. People buy into systems. An example, a guy that started photography at end of the 90ies might still have Nikon film stuff lots of lenses and is to live the earth for probably about another 25years. Someone who thinks of himself as an amateur photographer has a fair amount of income at the end of his life will probably just buy what Nikon thows at him OR switch to a Sony compact and get rid of all the old gear :D if he can not be bothered anymore... Secondly, there is the argument which Andrew brought to the table with his 1dxII. Got a camera will shot, done aka. shut up and shoot aka. what is good enough? GAS is just not getting you any good pictures, knowing your gear does though. This competitivenes argument is kind of used. Yes, it would be great if Canon and Nikon would have a FF dslr/mirrowless with 120fps in 4k with IBIS, RAW editable in body, straight up to YouPorn..... on the other hand I really don't care.... On the otherhand I do agree that Nikon hast to pull the finger out and f...ing get going with DEVELOPING a vision of what their future cameras shold do and then kind of execute on that....
