The Resolve version is the paid one, or the free?

At some points the image is too stressed, you would need a couple of better led lights or something, but it was a great exercise nevertheless!

Thanks! I have the Full Paid Dongle for Resolve12.5 Its great

  3. Shot some test footage with my cheapo macro rings and came up with this.

    KS Hack @ 160mbs

NX 30mm 2.0 + Extension Tubes for most Macro.

    NX16-50s for wides

Used my 3 Flashlights for lighting

All Da Vinci Resolve Studio from H265.

    Used EOSHD's Classic Flat NXLOG

I may have gone overboard on the sound!

    Flat and Graded example.

    Drip CC_1.1.1.jpg

Had fun and learned alot... Im assuming my shutter was wrong or the flashlights had been incompatible as some slow mo shots flicker.

Also I pushed a few shots to much as they look somewhat posterized.

Constructive comments or thoughts are greatly appreciated

Speculation Time: in a race to steal some Panasonic's thunder they reveal BMPCC2 with 2.5 to 4k raw S35 EF active mount with a7s low light abilities!

When news drops 40% of GH5 pre-orders are canceled

    Hmmm.....

  5. I use the word "thought" loosely.

What would happen if you took a bmpcc added a metabones to make it apsc some how fit an apsc booster on top of  first turning it into full frame then one final booster to make full frame medium format

with a medium format 2.8 lens would it be like 0.95 with all that boosting?

    16 < Super 35 < Full Frame < Medium Format.

Would it it look like MF on the bmpcc?

if you accidentally pointed it at the sun would it instantly burn through the sensor? (Like a magnifying glass burning ants?)

I own a lexar 2000x card, which is able to write at more than 200MB/sec on my PC, which translates to 1600Mb/sec. Yet my NX1 tops at 180Mb. I think it's a CPU limitation (or I/O interface limitation), not card.

I can record at 200mb for at least 4 min...or more (I stopped it myself) but when I go 300 it only records for 1-2 secs before write error. Lately I have been sticking around 160mb

  7. I have just started messing around with a new (to me) bmpcc I have one canon fd to micro 4/3rds  adapter.

I have many lenses from Samsung nx, Canon Fd, Nikkor, Minolta, etc all with NX adapters but mainly I want to use my Rokinon 12mm 2.0 NX and my 30mm 2.0 NX on the Pocket cam.

I held them bare handed in front of the pocket cam's sensor and it looks awesome...(if you keep it at a perfect distance)

Not surprisingly I have not found a NX to M4/3rd adapter...

I figured I could super glue a M4/3rd body cap to a NX rear lens cap and find some thin metal as a shimmy to eyeball the perfect distance.

anyone ever hear of such?  Is their another option Im not considering?

  8. I was sure the price of NX stuff would tank completely by now...

I hunted down a perfect NX 50-150 (no box) for $800 about a month ago... and was kicking myself thinking by now on the eve of the "ALL MIGHTY" GH5 it would be like $700-$650 today...

But nope the price of NX gear is Spiking again!?  I could sell for a $150-$250+ profit right now... Crazy...

I got my NX-1 body used from BH photo over a year and a half ago and I could sell it for the same or a little more...

If anybody is in a NX dumping/Selling mood the time is now... seems to be a sellers market....  may be the last peak before it falls of a cliff...

Im still on the fence... Looking at Blackmagic Cameras with rose colored glasses at the moment.

I need to watch this every day till it becomes my mantra. (this only applies if your not losing gigs because you don't have the right gear)

  9. Lucabutera I like your idea and I have a nx 30mm please continue your experiments its wild to think that we may be able to use for example a old Jupiter lens, Nikon Manual lens etc. and have touch auto-focus?!!

If the 30mm works as a host lens perhaps any pancake NX would work (16mm 20mm)

If you figure this out for us this may be your million dollar Idea... You would just have to hunt through all camera makers for a host lens and create an adapter universal autofocus adapter for.. Sony, Canon, Panasonic etc...

    Be not discouraged

    Your our only hope!

  10. Many Moons ago I used to edit commercials at a local news station I love post production but I never learned how to shoot.

Ive been teaching myself  to shoot with my NX-1 but I cant believe this little $125 BMPCC is making me rethink. Ive never touched a Blackmagic Camera before.

Maybe I should sell my NX-1 and 6 lenses (including both "S"Lens 30mm, 16mm, 45mm 12mm) Get a Metabones bmpcc EF adapter find some EF lenses over the next couple of months (18-35 1.8  70-200, 50mm) and shoot for a URSA Mini down the line...

BMPCC Its a bit of a pain to shoot with but when you get those buttery prores and raw files into resolve they are truly FUN to work with...

if I do sell my NX stuff I can sell my resolve dongle because I don't need it without h265 and I would prob get one free with a URSA mini purchase down the road...

Ill meditate on it for a month or so.

You've also demonstrated that in the right hands, one does not need a lot of expensive equipment to get good-looking results. Well done demonstration.

Thanks for the kind words man

  11. Was messing around trying out the pocket cam I just scored for cheap because it has dead pixels... if you look closely its in there...

Had to shoot on ProRez LT because I only have one small memory card.

    Used a Cheapo Adapter and a Canon FD 24mm 2.8 & Canon FD 50mm 3.5 macro

I have no lights so I took 99 cents store flashlights, a empty box, some foil and wax paper to make a soft box.

Man think I like the BMPCC Im thinking about rigging it out... but its hard to blow more money on a $125 cam thats  ultimately faulty...

Plus it seems I need to at least get a 3 point light set.

  12. Guy had it on ebay with 12 battries and a charger and all the original packing... I bought it 2 min after I saw the auction

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/222380590185?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT#viTabs_0

Said it has a sensor flaw... that its has like 6 dead/ frozen pixels...

Ive shot on it and blew it up on my 4k monitor and I dont see anything wrong with the video.. maybe it comes and goes... but its great to play with for only $125

  13. Yeah its dumb... I just got one (BMPCC) for $125 and was brain storming...

only thing I came up with was use the hdmi out to some sort of very small high rez screen that could fit in front of the BMPCC at the right focal length in a lens cap and have it record the output... at best with my cam (NX-1) I believe its 4:2:2 out so you would end up recording 422 in raw format...

Thats like taking an 8 mp picture and photographing it 28 megapixel with a raw camera... and thinking it better or more range.

If this wacky Idea was able to work prorez would be the only reasonable choice... I know there are recorder/monitors that can do it but but they cost more than $125

I was just dreaming of how to marry the usage of my NX-1 with S-Lenses to the codecs on the Pocket... just thinking out loud... sometimes I wish I could delete some of my posts.. lol

  14. I did find a sealed resolve 12.5 dongle locally. It handles h265 smoothly. I just have to get a ssd for my computer.

If your computer is slower you can tell it to create optimized media and it quickly makes smaller files  that play smoothly for editing.

It's funny I got resolve studio so I didn't have to convert h265 just to import it and let the software convert it internally. Doh!

I believe I can edit full res 4k once I get a ssd. And maybe I preserve something with the final render comming from the original h265 files.

But overall it's a wonderful experience using Resolve I'm turning into a BM fanboy starting to dream of an ursa mini someday.

If you are curious I say buy it and try it holds it's resale value very well if you don't like  or you can rent a dongle and try.
