  1. Oddly enough, I just saw a tourist use the 28-135mm as a walkabout lens for his visit to the old center of Ljubljana and it didn't look huge at all. The whole setup looked like your average FF DSLR with a general purpose zoom.
  2. There is not a lot of initiative for developing dedicated FF short-flange distance lenses (with AF), since they only make sense on FF E-mount bodies. APS-C short-flange lens designs can be used on a few more mounts and can make sense even on m43. If Canikon ever joins the FF short-flange party, then Sigma will follow.
  3. http://www.sigma-global.com/en/cine-lenses/ Hopefully the lens breathing problem of 50-100mm f1.8 has been addressed?
  4. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/ Looks perfect for the FS series and the 28-135mm before it had good reviews. Too bad no 16mm, though.
  5. The list of new features looks impressive. Android flagships really only get some upgrades every year or so and then the same specs are reused that year by every brand. I was extremely disappointed that the Samsung Note 7, which is essentially a S7 Edge with a stylus, took so long to bring to market with only the useless retina scanner as a new feature. 4K60p sounds really appealing, can't wait for an Android phone to get it. EDIT: All VR capable Android smartphones should at least be able to play 4K60p, so recording isn't far of. The new nexus phones are getting brand new Sony sensors, so maybe 60p is coming?
  6. So how is this news - there are global shutter sensors on the market already? They gave no pixel count, sensor size, just a "me too" kind of a shout-out. If only a7SIII could out the global shutter magic for its 12mpx ...
  7. CIPA rating for live-view still shooting it at pathetic 300 shots (which puts them on par with mirrorless cams), despite the generous battery. Makes you wonder if the batteries will last any longer than that of mirrorless cams in 4K shooting mode (if you want to use dual pixel AF).
  8. That would be huge news, but the leak suggests 4K at 30p?
  9. Where does this crop leave future APS-C models? No 4K at APS-C crop for 4 more years? Also, poor future 6D markII, he never stood a chance it seems. One glimmer of hope though: dual pixel AF was introduced with 70D, so maybe a proper 4K implementation will be too :D
  10. Finally, the 8-15mm fisheye has a purpose. No more black vignette!
  11. Well, duh ... we all know you can install one externally like with Sony, haha. Maybe Sony should offer a MJPEG option for people in "warmer regions".
  12. SAR has been surprised by new Sony cameras for every release for the past 2 years, so I'm hoping Sony will come up with something to challenge Canon 5D at Photokina.
  13. If 4K is recorded with a crop, that cannot be good news for their future APS-C line.
  14. Seems like Canon vs Sony debate for the next few years will be: with Canon, the battery lasts me all day, just don't ask me about memory cards and vice versa for Sony.
  15. Canon 5D IV specs are now out in detail and pretty reliable. MJPEG still, no word on crop. Maybe that will be the big thing about 5D - that it won't crop when shooting 4K: http://www.canonrumors.com/canon-eos-5d-mark-iv-specifications-and-image A lot of unreliable chatter about a hybrid OVF/EVF. Prism hump seems a big bigger than previous generations, but it could contain anything at this point.
  16. Here's a review with side-by-side footage comparison to GoPro: http://www.gsmarena.com/yi_4k_action_camera_review-blog-19875.php
  17. Make content more easily accessible - why would I subscribe to HBO, when my only interest is 10 episodes of GOT per year? I don't have the answer, but subscription services seem to be the future. I tried Netflix, but I don't consume a lot of video content outside of some Youtube videos. Most films are rubbish and do not deserve to be played in theaters etc.So are most TV show - not a lot can come close to Breaking Bad. It's almost like you can gauge how "guilty" you are going to feel to pirate something by how good it turns out to be. And most of it is bull.
  18. I used bold text to show which of your lines I was referring to.

    Camcorders

I've been trying to offload a Canon HFS100 camcorder for a few years now and only had one real offer. Should have take right there even if it was damn low. Not a lot of interest for a dedicated camcorder these days. Probably a good idea trying to get a good deal on a used one. However, they still have their uses, just not for me (anymore). I would seriously consider a 1" bridge camera in you position. However, a camcorder could be a better choice - study the feature set and decide depending on what you cannot live without. Also, give these bridge cameras a try, since the workflow could be less smooth than with a camcorder. The benefits are obvious - you get an awesome stills cams, whereas a camcorder is shit for stills. It sucks that you can now choose 1080p60 vs 4K30p ... smooth playback vs nice resolution ... wonder if the form factor will even survive until 4K60p prosumer models become available. XC10 is hardly a camcorder - no power zoom. Isn't that one of the major benefits of owning a camcorder?
  20. So, if he refunds the people he scammed, his wisdom of a filmmaker with decades of experience with all sorts of gear will not be put into question? Somehow, this seems like the bigger issue here, since this is a place for getting reliable advice.
  21. Maybe he's just a very motivated up-and-coming sales person from Canon, haha.

  23. If a steady 4K shot is a priority, go with Panasonic GX85.
