I have heard of people using the iMac mini as a portable computer. With a small monitor or the iPad Pro as photographer-at-large suggested, you could have a smaller set up than a laptop.

Good to know that the Rokinon 12mm is a good lens. I was looking at the Cine version in micro 4/3 for my BMMCC.
-
Yup, forgot about the 11-16... Probably the best option.
-
Look forward to your results. What made you decide to go with the RX instead of the XC?
-
Any wider than that and you're getting close to fisheye territory. I guess you could try one of those Rokinon/Samyang 8mm fisheye lenses for Canon or Nikon. Since it would crop in a bit, it may get rid of the worse outer edges of the fisheye effect... But not by much. Never mind the Rokinon is for aps-c so it will be fisheye no matter what.

Just wondering what the consensus is on post? Are you guys using a BMDFilm input LUT as a starting point? With my first few tests with it, I found that just a simple exposure, color correction/balance, and boost in saturation brought me to a nice natural image to grade with later if I want.

Have you noticed a big difference in quality between ProRes XQ and ProRes LT on your Ursa? Also, do you have a link to your Vimeo page, I would love to see some of your UM4.6 work... Even just some tests? I just bought a BMMCC and you couldn't be more right about the ProRes files. I always edited in ProRes anyway, so the ability to just copy the files to an external drive without having to convert them is amazing.

Good to know, thanks. Bayer does better aspirins than camera sensors, I suppose.

Noice!!! Some of your best NX1 footage.

Hardly an issue, but am wondering if anyone has noticed the blue channel lags behind the red and green channel?
-
That would be an interesting combo. Good price for an RX10ii too.
-
I love a lot of the footage from the XC10.

You're too spoiled with quick sells. When I sold my NX500, it took about 3 or 4 listings before it sold. There's a buyer out there and the market will tell you how much it's worth. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

@John Emery I just spent the morning messing with the files in FCPX/Color Finale and FilmConvert... And the latitude is simply astonishing. I can now see what all the hype is about 10bit color and high DR. I was planning on keeping my G7 for more run and gun applications, but the IQ with the micro is so next level... I may just sell the G7. And I think once I rig this a little more efficiently, the micro could be a fine run and gun camera, in it's own right.
-
Thanks, Axel. Good to hear about the DR. I have the G7 and that has been measured at about 10 stops and I can easily tell there is, at least, 3 stops more. The noise is so very organic. It almost seems pointless to add grain in FilmConvert.
-
Haha. I respect your honesty. Lol.

So, I had my first full day with the micro and... Wow it really is a fun camera. It is a little cumbersome using a small rig and the buttons are hard to push but the image is just amazing. It seems like you can underexpose, overexpose or nail the exposure and you have a lot to work with in post. And the colors... Nice. Obviously not the most amazing images in the world, but for a first time out with it... I am pleased.

Yeah, I searched for it on Vimeo last night. It's interesting that he used the IBIS and post stabilization. You can't get more steady with a tripod than those shots. What I really liked about it is the color and contrast. I think @Andrew Reid is right... The color looks like some of the samples from 1DXii... Specifically that video with the guy and girl on the motorcycle. Looks great.

Oh Cannon... Revenge of the Ninja... Gotta love Sho Kosugi. Also loved Chuck Norris in The Octagon.

So, I received my Micro today and only had about a half hour to rig it up and hit record a few times. I shot the footage in ProRes XQ and then brought it directly into the standalone version of FilmConvert to have a look. Well, the footage looks great. But when I hit the zoom function, at the bottom of the frame, there are dancing, vertical lines, but I can only see it while in zoom function, and it does not show when I am playing the footage full screen on my monitor in FCPX? Any ideas?
