  1. Yeah the DPReview "Mighty but small," review touches on it a bit. And yes it uses the 4K image to do this for 1080p.
  2. Hopefully their track record will continue. But since this is the first camera to offer 4K with 5-Axis IBIS in such a small form factor, I feel concern is duly noted.
  3. @sanveer "2. The Olympus is unable to handle anything more than 1080p, for many reasons. The Panasonic does 4k, but it will overheat (I read it in one of the forums, though I think they read the literature on the Sony, than the Panasonic, since how can the Panasonic literature come out, before the camera does). I am guessing it may have a 30 min limit, also to do with overheating (I hope I am wrong). But, I doubt it will be anywhere near the unbelievably low shoot timings in the a6300 or others." This is my biggest concern. I am ready to buy this camera once there is some confirmation on overheating. If it can last 30 minutes, then my short takes won't be an issue. I have been shooting a little 5-axis with the FZ300 in 1080p mode and it gets warm but not hot. Hopefully, the GX85 4K will fare as well.
  4. Yeah I am really surprised how every manufacturer is more interested in 8 bit 4K rather than 10 bit 1080 or 2.5k. BlackMagic solely owns the low budget cinema camera market. It amazes me that Panasonic or Sony hasn't introduced a natural competitor to the pocket with 10 bit.
  5. Panasonic makes this so confusing, but everything I have read so far indicates that it is 5-Axis without the OIS lens. Yeah. It looks great. I think it's worth getting now. With it's size, it can be a b-cam or a crash cam once the GH5 comes out.
  6. How is it old news, it was just released? But either way, I like Color Finale too. They work great together. LUTx has a better LUT preview function.
  7. Yeah that is kinda my joke about the Ursa Minor... Basically pocket 2 that will combine the qualities from the pocket with the qualities from the mini 4.6. But a Pocket 2 and a separate Ursa Nano would be well received as well.
  8. It almost looks like there is a little zoom during the walking, but either way it looks great... The IS and the quality. This may be the first camera I preorder.
  9. I know they had some issues, but I wasn't aware that every year delivery was less than a month before the one year anniversary of announcement.
  10. I own neither the Pocket or the Micro, but from reading this thread it seems like the Micro really isn't the successor to the Pocket... Or the Pocket II. Minus the obvious differences, do you early adopters see more similarities or differences between the two? I ask because I am still very interested in the pocket, but I don't want to buy one yet if the actual Pocket 2 is right around the corner... Plus I am still slapping myself for not getting it during the infamous fire sale of '14. I had enough money to buy 4 of them and sell 2 or 3 for a profit, but I thought they were just clearing inventory for the newer model. When I decided to buy just one, they were unavailable.
  11. Speaking of NAB, I have a prediction for BM... I think they will do one of two things... Not introduce a new camera, since they had such issues delivering last year's models, or double down on the Ursa brand with the Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. The former will be a direct competitor to the Alexa and Red and the latter will basically be the Pocket 2. You heard it here first.
  12. Stop shooting with ISO 6500 on a t2i and you won't need noise reduction. ?
  13. If I had a $5000 camera budget, I would raise another grand and get the Canon 1DXii. 4K up to 60p. From what I hear, clients love Canon and it will be a workhorse for the next 5 years. And then I would raise another $1500 and pick up the BMMCC, a screen and a cage.
  14. With 5-axis you can do a little more, but it isn't magic. Even steadicams can look horrible if you don't walk properly. I do think with 3 points of contact, you can get steadicam-ESQUE or slider-ESQUE small movements with 5 axis IBIS. But anything more than a couple feet and that wobble will start to show.
  15. @Don Kotlos yeah that is a bummer, but I am still interested in it for the very same reasons. Obviously, walking around with it will be an issue, but standing still should be close to tripod level if I use the neck strap method. On my FZ300, which only has OIS in 4K, I can get the thing pretty damn steady. And with controlled movements, I can take a few steps or sway in different directions to mimick sliders and pans. Which is still better than carrying a tripod or monopod around... Especially for what I want to use it for.
  16. Question for the more technical members: Will the GX85 have a comparable image quality to the G7?
  17. They have too many markets to protect. We always mention the higher end cinema line, but I have a feeling they're more worried about protecting their camcorder division.
  18. I understand product protection, but Canon really needs to take a page from Sony's handbook. The ef-M mount was one of the best innovations by canon in the past 5 years... They honestly did everything right with it... Including a slow rollout of native lenses. Now it just sits there for subpar, sub $500 selfie cameras.
  19. Good call. Put an ef-m mount on this bastard and sell it as a body only camera for $1500.
  20. Thanks for the update. That 12-40 does not have OIS, correct? If not, I assume the lack of OIS has a negative effect on the overall stabilization... Which kinda sucks considering I was hoping to utilize this camera for stabilizing old S16 c-mount lens.

    Lenses

I have the Takumar 35mm f2 and it's an awesome lens. I also have an RMC Tokina that is also fantastic. Honestly, I haven't seen a 28, or 35mm f2 lens that wasn't cool. I think Kiron may have made one as well. They are usually pretty cheap too.
  22. Reid is right, it is just a tool. Look at Kendy Ty's work or our own @Jonesy Jones feature "The Luggage" to see stunning video shot with a Canon DSLR.
  23. I don't think he meant it that way, in fact I believe he was rebutting Tugela's rude comment.
  24. On the G7, I was setting them to 100, but now I dropped it to 95 on zebra 1 and 75 on zebra 2. I assigned the zebras to function 2 and now just cycle through them when necessary.
