  1. Haha still the old chips getting hot...wow...
  2. Ok, I read and understood. But my questions are still the same. Is the one produced by a 5d mk3 a real raw video, as discussed in the article? And...if real raw still from a camera is at least 30MB, how can this be stored in a 24-30fps video? Even compressed, it would still be huge. If too compressed, it'd not be much better than jpg...perhaps more latitude, but less details or something else.
  3. Exactly, that's what I wanted to say. If a 6k raw still is 30-40mb, a 4k one would be about 13-17mb. At 24fps that would mean 320-420mb/sec. No sd card could do that. Hence raw frame is less than this. How much less?
  4. I think that one should understand what exactly raw video is. It's not same as raw for stills, where each frame is about 30-40MB on NX1. If you already make it 4k, then it can't be raw anymore, since raw is the output from the sensor, not processed. So what is it, exactly, eg on RED cameras?
  5. Sten, I think that even another Korean brand won't make products for a camera which has been discontinued. That's too bad, but...business is business.
  6. I'm sure that when finally sony or others will implement a fast enough processor for handling h.265 compression in real time, ppl will be happy.
  7. The nx1 is at least at 2+ years ahead in pure hw. The processors inside are far more advanced than any camera on the market even today, simply because Samsung had plenty of those quad core hexynos to use in anything, from whashing machines to tvs.
  8. Ok, probably you are right. I thought that metabones really did the trick by themselves (the two guys behind the company) w/o the help of external developers. As long as I'm concerned, that won't be enough for me. I'd want the adapter to be able to use 300mm or longer lenses on NX and focusing with "keypresses" would be a pain with those focal lenghts. I need a full AF working and, possibly, also OIS. Otherwise, I'll have to but a Canon or Nikon, in the future, just to be able to use those FL.
  9. ttbek, even if I don't understand all the implications in your reply, I see that the task is pretty difficult. I wonder how a small company like metabones could do a Canon (lens) to Sony (body) intelligent adapter from scratch. I mean...how much have they invested in this? I don't think more than those 10.000$ you were ready to put in to develop the Canon to NX adapter. So...what did they do? Which (human and tech) resources did they use? ttbek, even if I don't understand all the implications in your reply, I see that the task is pretty difficult. 10. You would have said the same before the release of nx1, if someone had written the specs of the yet to come camera.
  11. 10bit and 4:2:2 would have been in nx1-mk2 for sure, if it ever existed.
  12. The only thing that would make me consider a new camera over NX1 would be in camera 10bit recording at 4:2:2. And, for now, only GH5 seems to have this feature. But GH5 has small sensor, so not so good for stills. Summing up, NX1 will stay with me for years to come, I guess
  13. Any news about your attempt with nx to canon protocol conversion? Thx.
  14. our only hope is that someone could change the way in which the codec works
  15. The worst thing about high iso in video, is that it's much worse than the same high iso in a raw still image. Take a (still) picture at ISO 3200, resize it (downsample) to 4k and compare it to a frame grabbed from the video of the same subject. The difference is HUGE, at least one stop, but I guess more.
  16. Ttbek, I'd like to live near you so to be able to "participate" in the development and see the advancements with my eyes. Btw, as an ignorant guy about lens protocols, I think the basic commands would work for all of them, while fine tuning af and ois could be lens specific.
  17. Agreed, incredibile dr, also, in that point.
  18. The real "deal" would be an intelligent "canon lens to NX body" adapter (non speedbooster), with a good AF speed, for a price comparable to that of Metabones (which is 399$, about 350€). I'd buy one at day ZERO. Of course, the choice of having an intelligent speedbooster for canon lenses at a higher price would also be welcome, but I wouldn't probably buy it, since I'm more a still shooter after all, and the APS-c crop is nice for the kind of lenses I'd like to use on my NX1 (mainly 300mm and up).
  19. Agreed. Nx1 is often 'forgotten' in such comparisons (I'm not talking of EOShd alone).
  20. The flange to sensor is specific for each mount. If nxl adapter makes the flange distance equal to that of the canon mount, then all the mounts with a bigger enough distance will be adaptable.
