I normalized. Messed with color contrast highlights lowered. Added film grain. Added blue in shadows. Contrast. A whole bunch of messing around to make it feel like fiji eterna.

Camera is great in everything but crappy fluorescent lighting. Sensor stabilization is a miracle.  Would rate it at 400 iso for clean video.

Shot with 7 to 14mm olympus pro lens
Was a body rig....snorticam attached to actor.

I think the camera you choose (from this list and similar models) is fairly meaningless.
I could wake up tomorrow and find someone wanted me to shoot this exact gig. I wouldn't go out and buy a camera specifically for it. If this one project is all you'll ever do in your career, focus on the exterior setting and how you'll get good, clear shots of industrial work on a location. Do you need close-up gear? Overhead shots? Do you need audio? Do they want it to look sort of cool and stylized (jib, slider) or strictly informative/training style? How about scrims, reflectors, negative fill so your outdoor shots can be clear and not confusing?
If you want to shoot all kinds of commercial gigs over the next couple years, get something that can handle a variety of work.
There are only two really major differences in the tools for these gigs - a "video" camera (fixed power zoom, XLR jacks, viewfinder, built-in ND) which is good for more event and news-style shooting but (until you really spend some $$) has a more "video" look (which can be improved by a good operator)… or a more "pretty" camera - interchangeable lenses, control of DOF, larger sensor for a more "filmic" look than most "video" cams. DSLR, BMC, etc. And you need stills, so DSLR is likely the way to go for you. And you'll need a good tripod at the least, and possible good audio gear - field recorder, mic and blimp.
Your list is all over the place in sensor size - do you care about the look from the sensor? And a bigger question is do you (or will you soon) need 4K for reframing, keying, stabilizing. Either way, look into something you can build on and make money with for at least a couple years. Heck, a Nikon D7100 or 7200 would handle this gig fine.

Went and got the E-M5 II with version 1.0 firmware instead, will try shooting a test scene in V1 then upgrade to V2 and see what the difference is.

My problem is I love the creative freedom the 5-axis stabilisation provides that it's difficult to give that up.  While I would have loved better image quality, I guess at least we have PAL frame rates.

I got mine today (I wanted to use it on a specific project very soon). First impressions are that Andrew is being a bit hard on the image quality but I am far from finishing my tests.
That said, here are a few things that do bother me -
    - no way to adjust exposure or ISO when shooting video
    - no way to do custom white balance in movie mode ( you have to go to stills mode to do this)
    - no enlarged view when manually focusing in movie mode
    - apparently no way to refocus using auto focus while shooting movies
    - there is an INCREDIBLE crop when in movie mode. More than on the GH4 in 4K. I think this is what bothers me most of all. Totally unexpected.
    But...
    - build quality is beautiful
    - peaking seems to work better than on my GH4
    - a quick test combining shutter priority exposure, stabilisation and continuous autofocus was really good (and will be good for quick, steady walk-through shots)
My reasoning getting this was that it would (more or less) do the job of a gimbal. For what I do I just don't have time to mess around with rigging and it's not practical to have multiple cameras set up on different stabilisation devices. Despite all the drawbacks listed above, I think it might still serve the intended purpose.

Yes I saw that comment from Olympus.
They are right and they're wrong.
Pana, Sony, Samsung do need to generate 4K content for their TVs.
However my question to Olympus is do you see the potential in great 1080p? BECAUSE YOU HAVEN'T EVEN DONE THAT YET!

I'm in the same boat as \f13a.
I mainly shoot with the E-M1,almost always with SHG FT lenses and can't think shooting with something less stabilised for the type of work i'm doing.
I have also the LX100 and tested it @1080 side by side with the E-M1 did not impressed me at all but maybe it's just me.
Anyway, for now i'm a lot less interested to "downgrade" to the E-M5MkII.

Paniko reacted to Julien Miscischia in Raining - GH3 exposure tests / color grade
This short edit is a test of how do I need to expose my shots with the GH3. It was also a great opportunity to see how the weather sealed body is impacted or not by the rain.   I've used only two lenses : Olympus 45mm 1.8 (with Vari ND) and Canon FD 35-105 f3.5 with RJ Lens Turbo. I've recently shot FMX and I've found that the Canon FD and the Panasonic kit lens (14-42) give some moire on the image. So this test was also made for checking moire with this two lenses.   I find that the GH3 need to be expose for highlights, shadows keep enough details and can be recover in post. Be careful with the noise. GH3 tends to be (very) noisy - even at low ISO - when you try to gain the maximum of dynamic range. Although it has just 50mbps MOV codecs, I find it pretty stable and robust for post. Don't try big corrections or grades of course. I've edited it directly in Premiere Pro without encoding.   I've used FilmConvert, Neat Video, Fast color correction and some curves for achieving the look. It was a good test for the denoiser and this codec. You can smooth the noise easily but banding start to appear. Some examples in this video.   In conclusion, I really like the GH3, despite some drawbacks/missing features, it has an incredible quality. It just need lots of tests to find the right profile or codec for the right scene. It's a good B cam, very interesting in sports.   The compression give some big artefacts and bandings. I will try to encode a better one and update it soon. You can download the H.264 file which is better.   Comments are welcome !   Beyond the GH3, this is how were our summer months in Annecy (french alps) :-(   Shot and edit: Julien Miscischia   Premiere Pro CC 2014 After Effect CC 2014 FilmConvert Neat Video   Panasonic GH3 MOV 50Mbps IPB 1080p50 PAL Neutral -5, -5, -3, -3 ISO 320 (mostly) Shutter 1/100   Music Kai Engel Raining Calls and Echoes http://past.is/iPuN3

Paniko reacted to Inazuma in OMD EM1 video settings, video codes etc, HELP
    Welcome :)
Whilst I don't have an OMD or an Apple, I can give you some general tips.
Final Cut Pro is the choice of a lot of enthusiasts. Adobe Premiere/After Effects is another one.

The EM1 only does 30p (30 fps. Im not sure why a "p" is stuck on the end of everything these days). So make sure your timeline and output are at 30fps (unless you want to decrease it).

24fps is the standard for films. If you compare it side by side to 30fps, it will look jerky. However this is part of how you get the film "look".
The Hobbit in imax 3d uses 48fps. Some people liked it, most don't because it looks too smooth.. like a soap opera.

60fps is similar to the refresh rate of most LCD screens (59 or 60hz). For this reason, most gamers want to get their games to run at this frame rate. So they can see every movement smoothly.

When you export, you should export using Quicktime (.mov) or MP4. In both cases, you should use the h264 codec. Set the quality as high as you want or if it asks for a target/max bitrate, set it to 24mbps. This is usually the most optimal for desktop viewing. When you upload it to Vimeo, they will compress it to 20mbps. YouTube compresses significantly more.

    Hope this helps :)

It was really cool!! I like the whole lighting technique and everything. Haha I apologize. I am also a newbie. In fact, I've only been learning about photography for a few months. My main interest is film but I know that the two go hand in hand in a way. You seem to know how to add a nice touch to a video!

    Hi Inazuma, thank you!

Yup, same camera with mainly FourThirds lenses. 35-100F2 and 14-35F2. For this video i've used the PanaLeica 25 1.4 wide open and for the intro the ZD50F2 macro. Light was just a DIY led ring light. Always (but obviously not for the static part of the video) handheld.
That 5 Axis ibis is simply stunning.

No grading nor color corrections in FCPX.This is SOOC video. As a RAW stills shooter i've mistakenly leaved the camera in AutoWB, didn't notice that when the arms were in to the scene the wb changed :/ my fault.

Anyway glad you enjoyed it and thanks for subscribe!

I'm planning to do another video in a month but that will be a lot of planning work. Camera moving this time.

If you have suggestions on helping me getting better please feel free to let me know!
