  1. The A7R2 does not oversample in FF mode, which is why the crop mode has better quality. Also, an image may be oversampled, but unless it fully reads a 6K image it will not be able to reproduce full 4K resolution after debeyering. The Sony cameras, even in optimal modes, do not reach the resolution the NX1 does, so they are probably using a smaller pixel set, or the downsampling is being down in a crude manner (probably because of computational limitations, which we know places limits on the Sony processors.
  2. It is not sharpness, it is resolution. It is due to the NX1 sensor being oversampled, which allows it to outresolve most other cameras out there.
  3. If existing customers are only shooting stills as you suggest, then adding advanced video features to a new model is not going to make their current camera obsolete. Adding specs does not ditch existing customers. You might want to wait for the camera to actually be sold before getting impatient about no one responding to your questions.
  4. Nope. I would guess that 99%+ of video is shot on smaller sensors anyway. The "FF" look is for techno-snobs who are looking for some feature to differentiate themselves from the common people, but does not have a whole lot of relevance in the real world
  5. Apparently DJI don't approve of free advertising.
  6. Resolution is not great. Btw, what is up with the pans? Did you have stabilization turned on? It seemed a bit soft and mushy to my eyes. Definitely not going to win any resolution contests.
  7. Because most of them are sitting in more or less in one spot in front of the camera. You don't need the camera focussing on what is behind you when you move a bit.
  8. Most Vloggers are sitting yammering on about whatever their beef is in one position in front of a camera however, and you don't need DPAF for that (in fact, autofocus of any kind is probably a disadvantage).
  9. Being "professional" can be compared to being a chef. Just because you are paid to cook food does not mean that you are one. I think we can all agree that the person who cooks food at a five star restaurant is a chef. But the guy who flips burgers at MacDonalds is not. Both however are paid for preparing food and make their living that way. Photography/videography is the same. Just because you are paid to do it does not make you a professional. There are real professionals and then there are the "burger flippers" who are doing it simply to make a buck to get by.
  10. That is not how most is shot however. Typically it is a static camera with someone sitting in front of it.
  11. Once you learn English you might understand better.
  12. There will be variability in how effective the heat transfer is from unit to unit. That is pretty normal for anything that has a high performance processor in it.
  13. That does not look good for the 5D4 then. At best a mediocre performer.
  14. The basic problem and deal breaker with the a6300 is that it has "Sony" on it's name plate.
  15. Well, it will probably be 5 or 6 months before you can buy one anyway, so plenty of time. Even though the GH5 will probably edge past on video, the NX1 kicks it in stills, so is still very competitive as a hybrid.
  16. According to the specs on the DPreview first looks the highest bit rate is 35 mbps, as I suspected. In other words the video will be similar in quality to what Powershots shoot.
  17. The screen tilting downwards is probably clearance related. Using the touchscreen to move focus while looking through the EVF.....does that mean your cheek selects focus points for you? I think that feature is not going to be all that practical.
  18. It records as mp4 files, so the bit rate will likely be lower. In the GX7MII these files are 35 mbps, and in the 80D they are 60 mbps. Simply stunning.....NOT! It looks even worse on a 1440p monitor. From a video point of view this camera is not going to compete with any current model.
  19. Their sensors are being read at the same rate as everyone else's, so that is BS. The cooling is for the electronics overall, the primary heat source being the processor. The sensor needs to be kept cool, but it is not what is generating the heat.
  20. The next camera they announce will be the Nano Studio Camera. So small that you can't see it. And all for the low, low price of $3k.....a total bargain! Get your preorders in now, or you might be the last Jones in the block to get one!! It is not the sensor that overheats, it is the processor serving it. Uncompressed RAW output would have the smallest thermal profile....the problem is that with high bit depths and resolutions you can't store the data fast enough. The sweet spot in terms of compression and storage limitations are codecs such as MJPEG and Prores. If you use more efficient compression you fry the processor, if you use less efficient compression you can't store the data fast enough.
  21. Easy enough to determine if it is real or not if the patent application number is known. Anyone could look it up and see for themselves then.
  22. I'm sure all of the camera companies can do 4K RAW in all sorts of output modes. That is not the problem. The problem is storing the output. If it has to be encoded first then the processor will choke at a certain point (which is why most cameras have limitations on the quality of their output), but with RAW that will not happen. Then it becomes a question of how do you store so much data fast enough, that is the limitation for RAW output. RAW is overkill in the consumer market (even the vast majority of the professional market). Even treasured things like 10 bit or 4:2:2 are not necessary, because for most applications it has little or no impact on the appearance of the footage and how it is used. On the flip side RAW has considerable resource requirements and presents handling issues for non-expert users who have neither the time nor inclination to muck around with the nuances that are required to make it look even semi decent.
  23. The throw depends on focal length as well.
  24. You know that the icon you are using is a Sig rune right?
  25. I would dispute that. Not saying they are bad, but they are not ahead of others in those departments either. What? Is that not good enough for a rumor?
