  1. You have to wait for the next update in a couple of days. It will improve the H265 10 bit 420 codec and V-Log quite significantly. Saw lots of X-T4 video. Still has the smartphone look. Lots of noise reduction and sharpening even when both set to -4 and Interframe NR is set to OFF. Horrible.
  2. Easy going in Davinci Resolve Studio. 6K 10 Bit footage runs just fine without any stutter or lag - even after grading. Using a 1080 Ti here, though.
  3. Yes, but sold it soon after the Braw update and went with the S1 which had nicer color rendition and better dynamic range as well as much more texture but at the time horrible blue clipping (Pocket 4K still has red clipping) and motion artifacts using V-Log. Switched to the S1H soon after and tried avoiding ghosting/smearing by overexposing heavily which often leads to thin looking footage, at least the S1H never had blue clipping. Fun fact: The pre production model of the S1H at IBC in September 2019 with ProRes raw support had the blue clipping fixed while the other model didn't. There were two different firmware development branches. HLG and any other profile but V-Log and Like709 for whatever reason don't have any motion artifacts but still use noise reduction even at the lowest setting which is fine to me. The S1 had the noise reduction and blue clipping update for V-Log on November 19th already. It's both cleaner and free of artifacts on the S1.
  4. You will still be able to see patches in darker areas, doesn't mean the data is usable without huge amounts of noise reduction which is why the S1H is able to achieve almost 13 stops of 'usable' dynamic range, too bad Imatest doesn't care about motion artifacts caused by temporal noise reduction. I wouldn't mind temporal noise reduction that doesn't affect motion performance - HLG e.g. is perfectly fine on this camera achieving 12.2 actually usable stops. 😉 BMD, RED and Canon on the other hand use spatial noise reduction to boost their Imatest performance which doesn't create any motion related artifacts but sacrifices texture, darker areas chroma information often seems to be wiped out, skin may look waxy even, the Pocket 4K being the worst case. Cameras like the Pocket 6K and Ursa G2 and newer Canon cameras and any RED camera ever seem to be pretty well balanced though.
  5. In 4k the S1 has a fantastic image using V-Log. No artifacts either. Not a big fan of the HD though, it's not nearly as good as HD on the GH5 or G9 sadly. In case you need 60P I'd recommend using Cinelike D and convert to V-Log L using this Lut https://emotivecolor.com/vlog Should be clean and relatively close in terms of color and gamma but you'll lose like 2 stops of dynamic range.
  6. It's actually the most realistic one out there at the moment (Imatest, SNR 0,5). The 12.7 stops are achieved by using excessive amounts of noise reduction which also leads to many problems in images that aren't entirely static, one could even say Panasonic is cheating. At least all the issues will be fixed soon and with the Raw output as well as NR OFF (noise reduction -1 setting) coming we will see how the sensor and 12 bit linear output really performs, closer to 12 stops for sure. Having a much more organic image is more important to me than heavily flawed images that do great in Imatest.
  7. 12 bit linear RAW, since the sensor's video readout is in 12 bit linear as well it makes perfect sense to do so.
  8. Yes, you can also feed ACES with F-Log footage by using the V35 IDT, which doesn't even work properly with V-Log L footage lol
  9. Very similar to actual V-Log (not the L variant), that's why you can basically use Luts made for F-Log on V-Log footage and vice versa
  10. They did at IBC 2019 before the ghosting fix on the S1 was available. Was talking to some engineers over there, they even knew who I was and knew the samples I sent. Sadly nothing really happened. Did a collab video with Gerald Undone on this issue and did some promotion for my HLG Lut as well, since HLG is the only way to capture the same amount of dynamic range and color volume using the S1H without having an image which breaks apart quite easily but isn't easy to work with on the other hand without a proper Rec709 conversion to begin with. 55M Advanced Lut for S1H
  11. From my experience, yes. There's less shadow detail though.
  12. Still In development, but results are great and match between S1/S1H HLG and V-Log Made for HLG with Rec2020 gamut on the A73.
  13. One is Sony A73 and the other S1H, both in HLG, Lut + contrast via curve after.
  14. Can you upload a sample? Developed a HLG Lut for the S1, S1H and Sony A7rIV and A7III.
  15. They cancelled further development of the anti virus drug because they put all their effort into getting the PS5 ready.
  16. In comparison to the flat profile it's around 2 2/3 stops which is a huge difference.
  17. The Mi 10 shows much more texture and less sharpening artifacts, skin doesn't look like wax unlike on the overprocessed Mate 30 Pro example.
  18. Yep, my Oneplus 6 blows away any iPhone when it comes to cinematic looking video. It's quite insane what the ability to turn off sharpening entirely can do.
  19. tell me about it. Have to do everything manually too many customers. 😄
  20. I would save for another S1 honestly. Even the jump in terms of color science and dynamic range between the GH5 and S1 is quite remarkable.
  21. Panasonic released a new update 1.2 which still doesn't fix the ghosting and smearing issues. https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/ff/dl/s1h.html?fbclid=IwAR3biGv5hEvDRCZM5AOHmQ-LaeatQNX4_JiVWYN7WwewW7-WYiVaKYf1ZT4 Artifacts are still the same and V-Log remains a shit show, especially used in 6K https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sAml_fqNYE7AKPuC8H6Ktve02BnmmYyo/view
