Thank @Tito Ferradans, just found your video. ?
-
Recently, I got this lens as second hand
But it does not like most of anamorphic lens. Looks like it has only front glass, lack of rear glass. Is it normal? How does it work?

Hello,
I've recently purchased a ISCO Ultra Star Cinemascope lens to use it with my sony a7s.
I've seen some videos on youtube where people use this lens with their cameras so I bought this lens without thinking too much.
However, I think I might have bought a wrong lens.
As you can see in the picture, there is this lower part of the lens that I don't see in other videos.
Is there a way to disassemble this part of the lens or have I just bought a wrong lens?
Many thanks in advance
I have this ana lens sample. If only say resolution, it is a top one, but lacks of flare...

I bought a filter on ebay for the flare looks ok. it is basically with several scratched lines on a cheap uv filter and made it.

I did some research several years ago. And got these combination:
1.5X: Sphere/Cylinder
Schneider ES front 0/-10.50
ISCO integrated rear +7.75/-7.751.3X:
Moller46/2x front 0/-9 to -10 (estimated value, due to too thick, unable to measure)
ISCO integrated rear +7.75/-7.75The combination means using 2X lens with more powerful rear lens(or weaker front lens) can get less ratio than 2X.
For reference, original combination is:2X:
Schneider ES front 0/-10.50
Schneider ES rear +6.00/-6.002X:
ISCO integrated front 0/-13.75?
ISCO integrated rear +7.75/-7.75BTW, for 16H,
2X:
16H front 0/-17.00
16H rear +9.50/-9.50So that explain powerful lens combination(shorter distance between front and rear lenses) has wider angle.

depends on how you measure the length. looks you measure it at the longest. if measure in shortest, kowa's length<diameter. But Isco Ultra Star is internal focus lens, never change in length.

mine is not orange flare one.
ebay pn: 323677406425, not sure.

This lens wide/angle is between 16H and 16D. On FF, 100mm taking lens is safe, no vignetting at infinity. 85mm lens can use in closer focusing.
-
where you see 2.1 and 2.4? taking lens aperture?

As the rear element is 85mm, I plane to use it with a wide angle (82mm front thread ) as taking lens. Is that going to work on a full frame ?
IMO, if you can use it with standard lens (50~58mm) on FF, you need to thank god. ?

I sold mine. Its IQ is much better than many other 1.5x vintage ana lens.
But I can tell you, it only works on PENTAX Q or smaller cmose/ccd.
-
try to focus(both lenses) at infinity with F11 or smaller. if still not clear, then it is misaligned issue of the ana lens.

Thank you. Seen that vid before. The issue I have is that I'm unable to access the screws due to the focus barrel being stuck. Need to figure out a way of loosing it without breaking the damn thing! ?
Hey @ken. Thanks for the pic! Modified? Please explain.
How much are you wanting for that bad boy? ?
Your lens barrel has been cut out the distance marking part, obviously.
Mine's price? I think it worth around $200 nowadays. Its front lens was too bad when I bought, not usable. So I took out rear lens for use with other front lens.

Hi All,
Anyone have any experience with stripping down a Kowa 8z Anamorphic adapter? I've stripped down a couple of other scopes before but this one's giving me a bit of bother. The pics below are as far as I've got.
Repair Issue: I want to access the screws (highlighted in red) but the focus barrel (helicoid?) is jammed - Won't rotate in either direction. Anyone experienced this before? If so, how did you release/fix it? I'm sure I'm missing something.
@Tito Ferradans Maybe you might have some advice?
Thanks in advance!

Hey, your lens has been modified. I believe it has reached to one end. Please refer my picture.
BTW, if you need, I can sell mine to you, mechanic parts only, no glasses. ?

Wow,great modification!
I've got a cinelux es,too. How can I dissemble it ? Loose all the screws I can find.....
thx~
my mod is just cut it. if you need to take out front lens, besides loosing screws, you need to soften epoxy points by heat gun.

Believe or not, Moondog lens for iphone is the least distortion lens and widest too I have ever used.
-
I think because it is projector's lens. Widescreen actually is curved. So the lens may design this way could focus on edge.

You doubt whatever you want, Sir. Tested. Confirmed.
can you tell us what are the modifications?
-
no right or wrong absolutely, depends on shooting mode is 4:3 or 16:9. in digital world, you can crop the video to any ratio you like.

Imo, this is the second worst anamorphic lens than Russian’s. That is why it’s so cheap.

I don’t have GoPro cam. So only interested in modifying the ana lens to work with other small cmos cam. This lens size is more useful than iPhone’s ana lens.
