Judging from the rear of the camera and the specs, it's a re-worked GF9/GF10/GX850; so no IBIS. Sad, I really wanted a compact m4/3 camera with IBIS!

I got the G9 (stills are more important for me) and it's like Christmas has come early! Really really like the G9, it's a fantastic camera and is such a joy to use.

I do not think so. This is called the iMac and iMac pro. The latest 2019 iMac is very powerful, more than what most of "the masses" need. It bests the iMac Pro in many real world uses.
The iMac Pro will soon get an update and fill that gap as well.
I recently invested in an iMac and I am amazed. I have a $500 4K 27" screen and it is such garbage compared to the iMac screen. You would spend $1000 for a similarly good screen. The power is amazing, havent restarted the computer in weeks, haven't had a bug since day one months ago, everything is blazingly fast and the system a joy to use. Also having such a clean and simple design of an all in one on my desk leaves room and is nice. I would absolutely hate to have a normal desktop, including the new iMac Pro which to me looks awful by the way.
For work, I have from my company the latest Huawei Matebook Pro x which is considered by all major test website to be the best portable windows laptop on the market. It's such a garbage, full of bugs, have to restart it every week before it slows down too much. A PITA. Everything from the slow wake up time to the bad trackpad to the system is a pain.People can continue to cry all day long about how Apple is expensive and I totally agree it is (sometimes justified, sometimes it's ridiculous). But it just works.
By the way, the WWDC was the best in years. iPadOS is amazing. The new privacy features on iOS are incredible. Finally Apple is listening to customers.
I laughed good times with the $999 screen holder for the new iMac Pro.I always roll my eyes at Apple fanboy posts like this. If you like the UX of MacOS, that's fair, we all have different workflows and preferences.
But Windows bashing is so old. Haven't restarted my ancient system in weeks either. And that's only because I needed to install one of the monthly updates.

I've messaged Dale Baskin at DPR about him in 2017 and we exchanged a few messages. He is aware but I'm not sure if they're monitoring him.

Camera announced. 1.25x crop, SD card recording is 4:2:0 8-bit. V-LogL is installed. Everything else looks really nice though. Only 1 card slot.
US$1200 with the 12-60/3.5-5.6.
Oh and for stills, there seems to be Live View Composite now?

The XT3 is like $1500 (probably $1399 and below at few places now), and is a monster for video and stills. Panasonic can only beat or equal that camera in video performance, at a slightly lower price point. They should try and make the most of it.
I am bored with the 8-bit 4-2-0 regurgitated from every camera ever made.
That'll put it too close and in some cases above the G9. Not going to happen.

Any dedicated camera is not going big; standalone sales number at 30m per year and are going down; smartphones sell 300m in a QUARTER alone. That's consumer numbers.

Not true, there's definitely room to grow. 36mp on f/4 at m4/3 just about hits the diffraction limit, for example.

That's a good question. I personally think it might be one step too far, but that's what many said of 4K vs 1080p Full HD, so who knows? Prognostication of this level is difficult, so I'm not going to attempt it. ?

People, Fujifilm moved production to China and this is a camera that's barely a month old; if you want a better chance at solid reliable cameras never buy them in the first production run or two, let alone coming from an all-new production line.

@kye, in your case, it's because for UHS-I cards, Panasonic did not implement SDR104 bus speeds in the GH5, which limits UHS-I cards to the slower SD50 implementation which gives, as you can guess, 50 MB/s. As transfer rates are never 100% efficient my guess that even in the high 40s it eventually catches up and stops recording.

I'm looking to upgrade to the G9, a camera that's 3/4 the price of the A7III new. So the answer to that is yes. The spec sheet doesn't tell you everything; the system and how well I like using my tools matter.

As for the why, go to any photography forum and you can find that 80% of the old men (it's almost always old men) hate the swivel screen.

Except for phase detect (and I really do think for vlogging the G9's implementation of DFD can handle it), all these limitations are the same limitations of the GF9. Panasonic picked the wrong camera to base G100 on. The controls are lacking too, for the same reason.
