Canon is going after Phase One's IQ250, which has 50MP, a 2.5xFF sensor but starts at $35,000. While they won't be able to match the quality of IQ250, they may just achieve an 1/2 or 2/3 of its performance for 10x times the price. It would actually create a completely new market, a to-own medium format market with massive volume sales and also retain Canon users who would otherwise have jumped ship to a new ecosystem. Very smart.
Most of the ex-Canon photographers I know have either gone to Nikon D4s or IQ250 for low light sensitivity and better IQ, respectively. So 5DS and 5D4 are probably meant to stop this from happening.

Because the viewfinder has an lcd screen inside (or whatever screen type that is) which normally handles grid lines,etc... if you take out the battery it goes black darkening and blurring the path between your eyes and the ground glass.

There is also the nikkor 17-55 2.8 for aps-c cameras. It goes for around 450€ but at that price the sigma 18-35 1.8 starts to look more apealing to me.

One thing, the distortion on faces comes because of perspective not because of distortions of the lens. Just try to close one eye and get close to the face of someone, your brain corrects any distortion but the perspective is still there and it will look akward. This is why some people say that wideangle closeups are "intimate".
Let's say that the most natural perspective is with the 50mm. A shot done with a 50mm on FullFrame will be natural because when viewed in a normal sized screen/viewing-distance relation it has the same perspective as your eyes watching the scene through a rectangle and being  at the same place where the camera is placed.
When going above 50mm it gets a closeup, or the way you would remember something where you concentraded on details while sitting away in a confortable distance.

I would remove the part about sensitive goverment intel and the google maps thing. It's sort of a "excusatio non petita, accusatio manifesta". A serious business offers its adress, the name, and offers payment through visa and/or paypal which covers fraud intents. Something you already do.

The same way everybody can read your post, anybody can answer them. If you want to talk to John Barlow personally you can PM him, nobody will comment on that unless somebody publishes these conversations (like this: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/7842-dog-schidt-optiks-threatens-motion-six/).
    Get used to it.
What's your motivation anyway? Warning people that John barlow is an evil man and that nobody should buy his products? Revenge of some kind of sort? I don't get it, and since this is some kind of community after all, I will answer to that kind of shit.

Right now he is openly selling his product here, if Andrew doesn't like it he will tell him so.
Back then John Barlow was taken off moderation, had to hear all kind of things like his product was shitty and people downrating his topic, and that's where that story ended. Now you come and try to pull of the same (minus you not being moderator), so don't get so upset at that gtfo.

Yes. Barlow threatened to close the FM thread when he was a moderator and Andrew found that it wasn't suitable that Barlow was a moderator since he had his own interest in promoting his products - so it ended in Andrew removing the moderator rights.
The anamorphic forum on EOSHD is the best place for anamorphic fans on the Internet. I don't see any problem at all with people who make anamorphic modules / attachments to promote their products here - as long as it is clear that they are promoting their products, which I think is quite clear if you read through this thread.
Heck. I wouldn't mind if Letus, SLR Magic and Anamorphic shop all had their own main threads discussing their development and lenses, taking feedback and answering questions! It's just nice to have information available right here in the forum.
I don't see it as I am forced to buy anything from Barlow. But he makes it easy for me to follow along and be up to date about his product, should it interest me. I would say that is something that can be considered a gain for us forum members here!

Haven't seen Birdman yet, watched the video above here, reading about it now. Awesome cinematography. Love the wide angle combined with the shallow focus. Have to see this!
It's shot on Alexa with a Leica 16mm T1.4 and Master Prime 12mm T1.3 mostly. That's some crazy stuff, if they shot wide open, that's even less dof than you'd get on fullframe usually - or you would have to be shooting with a 18mm f/2.0.

I also loved the cinematography of The Grand Budapest Hotel. Crazy combination of anamorphic wide shots and 4:3. Really suits the film.

Photography has never been this alive.
People said the exact same thing about painting when photography came up.  People said the exact same thing about music when MIDI was invented.
