Dave Dugdale proved me with this video that 10 bit is a fairy dust if you are a run& gun shooter, wedding cinematographer or you are in love with architecture cinematography.

I have never faced banding issues with 8 bit codec, and if you are shooting with correct WB you don't have to twist your footage till it breaks. And if it breaks it's probably because of the 100Mbps bitrate and not the 8 bit...

I think for most cases 10 bit gives you just a little more advantage over 8 bit if you nail your exposure and WB.

And i have worked with BMPCC in ProRes/RAW and with 5D RAW before.

It seems like the next big think is shooting in HLG with 8bit which works perfectly fine.

I'm sorry what is it hlg? thx

I suggest waiting to see if the tilta g2x and ikan pivot are any good. Both around $700.  What camera / lenses?

The problem with the traditional design is you can't balance longer lenses even if it supports the weight, the angled is a step in the right direction but a compromise, still better than nothing though.  Someone that's not letus needs to put roll axis first so we can do long lenses!

If you don't have long lenses to balance then crane plus is a good deal, I think on eBay for $450 right now.

the tilta g2x and ikan pivot has been designed to solve this problem? I need to use 135mm long lenses. thx!1

Some do have FF, but only work with select cameras. (And very few of them at that)

do you know and can tell me which models of camera please? I wish to change camera + buy a gimbal this would be an awesome combo.

  4. thanks guys I'm really grateful for yours help! really a lot! Is it true that models have a built in follow focus? which models do have this -awesome- feature? and how does it work? I mean this seems to be a killer application isn't it a game changers for gimbals? thx!

  5. I have a canon 7D M1 and I'm considering to buy a new camera. I have not much money but I really wish a low light iso camera, something that can handle high iso without problems. And if possible something that can handle 4K 60fps, or 48fps. Does exist anything similar to this at low cost on the market please?

    thx

  6. I need help please. I have a lot of clips on my timeline and I need to select multiple files the same way I do in "Wiindows OS" when I press CTRL and Mouse Click that allows me to click and select multiple files that are anywhere on your file list, not necessarily next to each other. how to do it in Premiere please?

    thx

That gpu is 2006 stuff. I think you will do better with the Intel HD of your processor than with that (it has one, right?). Graphic cards evolved a lot, and since Sandy Bridge the Intel HD performance surpassed older entry level cards and mid range stuff the older Intels couldn't even touch. Perhaps, i still can't say for sure if it's enough. I've already used premiere with an HD3000 and t3i 1080p. Can't say it was nice, but still works, and back them i was with an i3 and 4gb of ram, but with no color grading plugins. Your whole system is better than mine was. Way better. So it probably should be fine. But if you want to play with color, i suggest transcoding the h.264 files to some edit friendly codec and depending on which plugin you want to use, i still can't say for sure if it will be good.

thx for your reply! unfortunately my CPU have no intagrated GPU it's a X99 processor (5920K).

  8. My GPU is broken. The problem is that I can not buy a new card because all the shops (amazon included) are out of stock of GPU (because it's summer and because bitcoin miners have bought a lot of them for theyr purpose).

So.... I need a GPU to power on my PC, but I need it also for making very basic video editing. I found this videocard preowned, it's extremly old. I wish to ask you if you have ever used it in the past with Premiere Pro please.

My PC specs are CPU 5820k, 32gb of RAM, SSD... but the GPU would be this vintage 256mb of vram stuff. Do you believe I could edit anything in full hd (canon 7D) with this GPU? Will Premiere use the CPU,RAM instead of the GPU? Or Premiere will die because of the vintage GPU?

the GPU is Nvidia 8600gts: http://www.nvidia.it/object/geforce_8600_it.html

I should use it until september (when GPU will return in stock).

    thx!

With the 5D mark II it's for me a big issue, If there is too much repetitive pattern this creates too much visibles artifacts. There is exist maybe a solution in post.

If ML will (maybe) unlock lossless compression + stable 10/12bits record on the 5D mark II, i will buy this VAF filter.

    that's NOT artifacts . XD

I have a 7D, you can record full sensor Raw in 24p continuously. You can also shoot in a 48fps mode in a wide screen aspect ratio without any need to desqueeze in post.

how do you do it please?
