@timpy I think a Rode going into a 3.5mm jack would do fine. Can test it with my Rode videomic soon.

These would be great to know:

    - Sharpness (in both FF, S35, HD-FF, HD-S35)
    - Rolling shutter (in both FF, S35, HD-FF, HD-S35)
    - Low light (in both FF, S35, HD-FF, HD-S35)
    - 100fps Quality (in both FF and S35)
    - If you have the a7rII, Side to side to compare dynamic range and colour rendition.

Thanks a lot and enjoy your new camera!

Perhaps a flex-arm solution could work.  Such a set-up would allow you to hold the camera in one hand and adjust the monitor with the other hand.

Thanks for the info, Bold. I think I'll go for the Kiron super-zoom and see what the quality is like. It's a pity that the Vivitar has a rotating front element. It really looked like the perfect lens! It's parafocal too apparently.

    Timpy,
If you want a parfocal super zoom, you're unlikely to find one that isn't push-pull.  That is, you won't find one with separate zoom & focus rings.  Your best bet may be the first (and some argue the best) super zoom, the Kiron (Kino Precision) 28-210mm.  It is also found under the name Promaster Spectum 7.  KINO PRECISION was started up by engineers who moved from NIKON to make lenses that equalled, or in many cases, were superior to OEM lenses.  Their fit, finish, mechanics and optics were top quality.
The 28-210mm is a parfocal lens where the front element doesn't turn when focusing.  When focused at 200+mm, focus stays spot on down to 28mm.  When focused at 28mm, it is a tiny bit off when zoomed to 200+mm.  This is attributed to a small amount of human focus error at the low end (28mm) and not a fault in the lens.  It's most commonly found for Canon, but I've seen it in Nikon, Minolta, Konica and Pentax mounts.  It is very affordable.
Here's a little Kiron info from a guy looking for a zoom for his Century Optics and Panasonic anamorphics:
    Hope this helps!

    Hi!

I'd like to share some tests I've been doing with my brand new sony a7rII. I used quite a lot of lenses in this video, including some anamorphic set ups. I reeeeally like this camera so far.

The high frame rates aren't a patch on the RX100 IV but the colour, resolution, quality of the 1080/60p/24p overall is really very good.
Dynamic range is good, more in keeping with a DSLR than a compact but there's no S-LOG, so 1-2 stops less than the RX100 IV can manage.
Apart from that it is really like an interchangeable lens mount on the RX100 IV... and nicer ergonomics actually.

Glad you people like it. I used mostly the rx100 on board mic (surprisingly good) covered with some wind-cut fabric. For the interviews and some other things I used a zoom H1, sometimes with a sony lav mic and sometimes with the default mics.

    Hi guys!
Long time since I last posted here! OK, Last month Burbuja Films and I presented Midnight Sun, a documentary about the prolific music scene in Finland, Norway and Sweden. Let's try to embed the trailer right here:

I filmed the thing last summer during a two month hitch-hiking trip in these countries. Alone. For the journey, bands day to day and interviews I used the RX100 mk2, and for the music videos the BMPCC with c-mount primes. I also had a zoom h1 for audio. I was forced to use this tiny cameras as I was travelling with just one bag, but I also realised that sometimes the smaller the better, specially in this kind of docus where I needed the people to feel comfortable and act natural in front of the camera.

I just wanted to let you guys know that EOSHD was a huge source of inspiration it terms of which gear to choose for the job. I'm really happy with the performance of these two tiny cameras -they never let me down in the two months of production and we think the result is fantastic, considering the low-budget-ish nature of our project. Now, the documentary is touring in festivals all over the world and we hope people enjoy watching it.

    Thanks for helping me!

Glad to see that you guys still make stuff with the V's. Here is my last burst video:

    http://youtu.be/Nw8H4v0zN_0

This time I used a Kowa anamorphic lens attached to my 35mm f2 Helios. This is the V2, therefore it is 5K. Specially good for the job as it shoots 4:3, so you can get proper anamorphic aspect.

    I have!

    http://youtu.be/2NYmNkye3dI

In the video I used all my Russian arsenal:

    - Kinor 16OPF-12-1 (10-100 zoom) - Metor 5-1 (17-69 zoom) - Mir11-M (12mm) - Vega7-1 (20mm) - Tair-41M (50mm)

The opening shot and a few more was shot with the kinor zoom. Mines reads "2.9" on the ring as the fastest aperture, but I've seen other units with "2.8" on them. I presume that is the T number rather than the F, maybe? Of course, the lens says "2.5" on the barrel, so I think it is still f2.5. Wide open is quite "bloomy", the highlight bloom quite a lot.

Anybody else using Kinors on the pocket?

    - few visible clitches are mainly my fault 'cause i was bit lazy working with motion vectors in Nuke
