That whole Alice metaphor at the beginning of the so-called review... well... not your best writing.

How much more Dynamic range do you get in RAW vs Prores?
I am kinda debating on whether to get the original BMPCC or the 4k version. Any advantages if I'll only be shooting in 1080p 30p?The original pocket was really really bad in low light and battery life was terrible.
I can't see any advantages.

It's a trend that should die. Now.

No need to worry, the camera will get to you in the end & the longer you wait, the better - as they'll listen to the beta testers & solve loads of issues before you actually have it in your hands.
Still gonna wait for the Half Price Fire Sale that'll come next year - you just know they'll do it again!
If you can wait a year before getting it, then you don't need it.

Hell by the time you put a battery grip, a SSD, a mike, a cage, ND filters, oh and you Need a Gimbal because it has no IBIS, a wireless focus controller because it has no continuous AF, you might as well carry around a Arri Alexa!
Yeah, right. And since they're about the same price, that seems like a no-brainer.

The fact that Andrew hasn't posted anything about Blackmagic RAW is very telling...
You have to look with better eyes than this.

I’m not saying this in any way to detract from Grant Petty’s achievements - just to put things in perspective, bcz it sounds as though some actually think he’s giving away cameras for free. You might do a friend’s wedding for free to build your portfolio, but this is far from Mr Petty’s first rodeo.
So ?

It's just a shame they haven't managed to get it like that 'out of camera'. Still a great deal though.
Well, strangely, I prefer "too much detail" because you can "bring it down" in post if it's too much.
"Low detail" is impossible to recover.

It would be wierd if Blackmagic can't implement BRAW on the Pocket 4K. They have been developing BRAW for the past 2.5 years so maybe longer than the Pocket 4K has been in development (or maybe not) but for sure there was a significant amount of time when they were both being developed in parallel. How could they designs a camera and not plan and test the components for compatibility before for finalizing the design? This is such a key feature that will increase the volume of sales to make of the lack of margin due to the low price of the Pocket 4k that it would a serious engineering error if BRAW does not make it on to the Pocket 4k.
Blackmagic has already stated that the 4K WILL get the BMraw update, so take a deep breath and relax.

Well why don't you just fill us in on some juicy new footage or info on the PK4. Hell I got all kind of time to watch. Hmm, not much to see Yet, so, so, hmm I thought so. Or we could just sit here for a week until the next Video shows up and be stuck at ONLY 172 pages busting with total BM news.
Take a pill, dude.

The grading is all over the place, but I can see the potential. Damn ! Wow !
(I also don't think the short is "narrative". Try "Artsy" or "Experimental".)

The 16mm lenses would also fit the Pocket 5K Panavision Camcorder.
(Yeah: I made that one up. Just like that other made up camera, the Digital Bolex).
-
Nice to hear that this "hypothetical" camcorder is getting an upgrade !
I can't shake the feeling that this camera, when (if?) it's released, will already be made obsolete by whatever GoPro has up it's sleeve for the next NAB.
I, for one, would never waste $3000 on a device from a company without a track record, no matter how cool the specs seem to be. Just thinking about customer support and service makes me shiver...
