yes that is correct! increasing the iso will make it brighter!!!

I think the bolex are the most beautiful/practical lenses behind the iscorama 36... it has a 3 feet minimal focus or less, amazing flares and that film tonality that we are all looking for.
 
I wouldn´t sell mine for less than 3000 Euros, i just love it.
 
Rudolf, with which anamorphic adapter are you trying to pair your lenses? All my lenses are Canon Fd´s in mint condition and with them it works just perfect.  I also have an Isco ultra star plus ( Red) 1,75x and it is SUPER sharp with the same lenses.

Because the Scarlet is even more expensive, not as good in low light, not a full frame sensor nor does is it as good a stills camera.
 
I am in the 1D C camp but it could have been much better.
 
25p, $8k instead of $12k, HD-SDI and articulated screen... But then Canon are conservative.

More like $5K gets me 4k and c-log. The 1DX already comes with crappy "1080p" 4:2:0 and it only costs $6700.

What gets me is people still snatch these Canons up like they don't care.... lol. 

I fuckin hate this camera. $12K, and it only records 1080 in 4:2:0 on board.  You have to be shitting me.

E-M5 has better stills, GH3 has better video. At least that's what consensus is.

Canon 1 DX is the best full frame DSLR right now. Period.
 
Its 2 stops better than 5D3..and much sharper. Almost as sharp as a C300.
 
It's big brother, the 1 DC (availible December 26th) has the slow mo you wish for + it's the best stills camera (DSLR) in the world.

You can't compare the 'ludicrousness' of 11 stops of dynamic range recorded in 8-bit at 50Mbps to 13 stops of dynamic range recorded in 12-bit raw at 1.1Gbps.  Sorry, you just can't.

Look it really is time to nail this argument down so hard it can never get up again.
 
By your logic Super 16mm which is a 2.7x crop is also ludicrous. OK but didn't stop The Queen, Black Swan and Moonrise Kingdom being made on it. They're some of the best looking films I've seen in the past 2 years if not THE best looking.
 
Remind me of the advantages of a full frame sensor. So you can defocus everything apart from a tiny sliver of hair? Oh please... It looks rubbish. This is not cinema. In low light at fast apertures, my 5D Mark III makes focus unmanageable at close distances. You cannot shoot a film this way.
 
Like I say if a 2.7x crop is good enough for Darren Aronofsky then 2.3x is good enough for you. Super 16mm films have won multiple Oscars throughout history and nobody complained about the lack of shallow DOF or the film stock being ludicrous! Do you realise how silly it sounds?
 
It isn't even a 2.3x crop factor over the C300. It is a 1.6x crop versus the C300 which is what you are comparing it to, not a photographic camera with a video mode tacked on the back.
 
Super 35mm - the cinema standard - is not the same as full frame.

I've run a recording studio for about 15 years now, and find myself running into the same issues over and over again. I've also been giving the same speech for about as long, and thought I'd compile it into a short "how to" video for YouTube.

Remember the GH2 has the EX tele conversion mode. It's very useful when shooting in decent light, so with one prime you actually have two focal lenghts available.

Otherwise I have to agree with the others, there are no cheap zoom lenses that offer the same iq as decent fast primes.

If you're able to spend a bit more money you could take a look at the Tokina 28-70mm f2.8. It's a bit long on the wide end, but it has constant aperture and is not that expensive.

Another option is to dig into c-mount lenses. There are plenty of dirt cheap fast tv-zooms, but most of the time you'll need to modify the mount and use the EX tele mode, because of the vignetting.

It's just a matter of how you hold it. For handheld I cup my camera and focus underhand when using that lens rather than go for an overhand motion using my thumb and index finger. It just takes practice really.

Hey, you missed the real news today! Canon has announced the S110, the SX160 IS, the G15, the SX 500 IS, and the SX 50 HS. And some of them are available in red. This is true innovation.

"Genesis" - Shutter lag on the train was pretty pronounced. Nice that they left it in so we could see it rather than fixing it in post.

Note to all you videographers - see how not EVERY shot is wide open? You don't need f/1.8 for all your shots just because you can.
