  1.   I hope they are very conservative with their 'available in July' statement. Best thing would be if they already start rolling the camera's out of the factory now and ship them before July. Then the public opinion about the disastrous BMCC launch/availability might change.   I'm not expecting anything though. Ordered the BMPCC and will not be surprised or pissed off when I don't get it in July. Just Hoping they played it smart :)
  2. I emailed CVP asking for my 'number in line'   Got this reply:
  3.   Should be she saying that, if she hasn't tried it and doesn't know for sure?   If it is a concern for you, then wait for samples and tests. Or get the current BMCC, with no compression at all.
  4.   Tssk.   No it won't work properly. It's for 1/2" sensor size, which is 6,40 x 4,80mm. Like half the BMPCC.
  5.   BMPC Effective sensor size: 12.48mm x 7.02mm   Crop factor is 3x compared to full-frame (36mm x 24mm), 2,88x compared to 16:9 fullframe (36mm x 24mm).
  6. http://vimeo.com/63597094 Hands on vid. Not much information and blackmagic seems to be contradicting themselves as they state in this video the pocket camera is proress only.
  7.   I love the form factor. I'll look like a stupid tourist shooting with a Sony NEX. Super stealthy!   Just put it on a rig / in a cage if you want to make it bigger. I'm sure there will be plenty of options.
  8. Meanwhile on the Blackmagic forum: http://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6795&start=10     Fingers crossed! (pre-ordered my BMPCC...)
  9.   This might pose quite a thread to Panasonic. The whole GH-crowd who uses the Panasonics solely for video is probably switching over to the BMPCC right now. I just did ;)
  10. According to John Brawley the Pocket Cam will get losless compressed DNG:     The stills won't be much good on the pocket cam either. That is a downside for me, I'll have to buy a seperate stills camera, or hold on to my Canon 5D Mark 1.
  11. I just preordered at CVP... https://www.creativevideo.co.uk/index.php?t=product/blackmagic_pocket_cinema_camera_mft
  12. This is soooo sexy. Add a pistol grip, add a lcd loupe, and done! (and I will add my tine petit cinevision anamorphic.. :))
  13.   Canon just can't. They would make their complete line-up obsolete.   Sony showed a prototype of a 4K dslr, pretty sure it will be cheaper than the 1DC, and maybe competitive with the S35 BMCC, but raw...? I doubt it. Maybe external?
  14. This is the next big thing since the 5D2. An incredible cool camera for enthusiasts like me. The Speed Booster made me drool and i'm still waiting to hit that order button for the MFT version.   This little BMPCC + Speed Booster is what I'm aiming for. Freaking amazing.
  15.   S16 Crop factor is about 2,88x. Sigma 8-16mm: ~ 23-46mm Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 + Speed Booster: ~22,5-33mm f/2.0 (drool) ou could put the 8-16mm on the Speed Booster if you want wider...   Samyang is working on a 10mm f/2.8 prime for aps-c, that might be a good one as well at 29mm without or 20mm with Speed Booster.   There are plenty of options for this sensor size nowadays!
  16. As I read on Personal View forums, it might be the case that with the BMPCC raw recording is only possible on an external recorder, so you would have 1080p Prores on SD in camera. That would explain the low price.   If it could record raw in camera on SD, that would be completely awesome, but I wouldn't mind ProRes on SD with raw ability with an external recorder.   I would love to have compressed DNG over uncompressed, especially in the BMPCC, but maybe processing costs more processing power?   We'll hear more in the official announcement I guess. Can't wait!
  17. You can preorder the 4K BMCC. GBP 2699 ex. vat. Sadly no preorder for the Pocket Cinema Camera.   http://www.newsshooter.com/2013/04/08/blackmagic-design-4k-super-35mm-cinema-camera-ready-to-pre-order/
  18. Oh my god. That Pocket camera is f*cking amazing. I WANT it so bad. It's the 'hobbyist' raw cinema camera i've been waiting for. I thought It would take a few years before things got that far... Must. Have. It.   Imagine: Pocket Cinema Camera + Speed Booster + Tokina 11-16mm 2.8.... even wide angle is covered.
  19. Sony starts the counter attack: http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/show-highend/
  20. All the inscriptions look exactly the same, only the mount looks a bit different, but that might be a screw on part, just like mine has, just a different part.
  21. dahlfors just did. A 2TB SSD would cost around 1500 to 2000 euro's. The WD Digital Pasport is a normal HDD. If you want 2TB on a budget, an SSD is not an option.
  22. That Phantom 65 is interesting.... Wanted to read more about it, I can find talk about it from years back, bit weird it's gone from the website. It comes with Mamiya or SuperPL mount and a huge 65mm sensor.. found a clip on youtube of someone holding the chip in their hands:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PzvGLjO7Zw   Isn't it kinda weird that the only (as far as I know) big format video camera is a high speed one? Wouldn't this be a good digital replacement for the 70mm IMAX-camera's?   Apperently they use it for 3D, by using 2 lenses projected onto one sensor: http://blog.abelcine.com/2011/04/08/doug-trumbulls-phantom-65-z3d-shoot/ What a shame, wasting that big beautiful chip with 3D... ;)   When Red started, they had talks about f*king huge sensors. Like this 617 'brain'... (6x17cm...)     Crazy, awesome, but it never happened.   Also the 'modest' Epic 645 never happened.
  23. That colleague of yours is talking bollocks. The super35mm sensor doesn't use all the image area offered by the Zeiss (as you can see in your comparison with the fullframe 5D), but adding an anamorphic gives you a wider field of view, no matter the sensor size.
  24.   Read more: http://www.amd.com/us/press-releases/Pages/amd-and-adobe-2013apr5.aspx   Wonder if it also will work in DaVinci Resolve. I had to buy a Nvidia card specifically for Resolve (on Windows). Would be good to have some choice.
  25. https://vimeo.com/63297368   It's definitely the thing he was talking about. Read the blog: http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/2013/04/04/movi-a-revolutionary-handheld-stabilized-system-takes-flight/       It looks pretty nice to me, but definitely not 5D2 gamechanger style in this price range.
