  1. A little too preachy. The points have their place and I enjoyed the behind the scenes stuff and some of the imagery. Love the movie so still enjoyed seeing the doc.
  2. I was literally gripping my seat throughout much of this film. Two things are known to me. I loved this movie and we have become total pussies since 1820.
  3. Agreed so far. I was really hoping the 4.6k would grab me, but it hasn't yet.
  4. Thats one of the great things about QT movies. Everyone feels so differently about their favorites. For me personally, if I were to put them in order it would probably be as follows: 1. Reservoir Dogs 2. Pulp Fiction 3. Inglorious Basterds 4. Kill Bill Vol 1 5. Django Unchained 6. Hateful Eight 7. Jackie Brown 8. Kill Bill Vol 2 9. Death Proof 10. Four Rooms I haven't seen his early work, and if we counted his writing credits, True Romance would be 3rd or 4th on the list for me.
  5. I liked some of the dialog and the acting, but as far as QT movies go, it is pretty far down on my personal list. I may have a different opinion when I watch it again, but after the first time I was a little disappointed.
  6. You guys have probably already seen it, but here's another vid:
  7. Saw it last night. I loved it. The images were breathtaking as was the action, which had me tensed up quite a bit. Lubezki is at the top of his game. I liked the fogged up lenses on the closeups. The bear scene was awesome, as was the horse jump. Leo did a good job. I'm excited by these guys, the films they are making.
  8. Thanks Mattias and Ed. These posts are so helpful at the moment.
  9. Sweet! Looking forward to some better footage, hopefully.
  10. The F35 has the look I love, as does the 5dRAW and some BMCC. I'm seriously considering the F35 at the moment, just been waiting to see what the URSA mini 4.6k has to offer as it is current tech and supported, just wish that one of these years they'd get their act together over there at BM. I'm definitely going to pull the trigger on something in the next few months and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being the F35.
  11. Thanks for continuing to push companies and their sponsored filmmakers to put out better products and own up.
  12. Ursa Mini also has RAW. I really want this camera to be great, but that judgement will have to wait. Who knows what kind of problems it will have and I have seen some good stuff from the 4k, but iffy on the 4.6k.
  13. I totally agree with you on this. The high end Sony cams and the old F35 look fantastic, but then I look at things like Bloom's FS5 film "The Wood Carver" and think skin looks like plastic. I try to find other grading styles and see so much brown and orange-looking footage everywhere. Based on so many with such positives when it comes to A7s, FS5 etc.. I'm still holding out hope that it can make an image that would truly make me happy if I spent the money, but just when I think footage looks decent the same film includes stuff that really doesn't.
  14. Thanks so much, Andrew, for all the work you've done to provide all of us with a nice hub for information related to video production and photography. I check the forum of this site almost daily and am very appreciative of all who collaborate in a positive way here, but also love the product reviews you've done. Happy Holidays to you and all the other forum members who make this little place on the internet great.
  15. Sounds like The Force Awakens was pretty good from the early consensus. Looking forward to seeing it, and The H8ful Eight. A good time for some new movies!
  16. Cineon to Film Contrast 1 is from http://www.vision-color.com/impulz/ I think
  17. The regrade looks better, but the Sony skin still looks like plastic. The extra detail in the Canon helps accentuate this, definitely.
  18. Because I've never been sold on Sony cams I haven't gone out of my way to watch hundreds of films shot with Sony A7 cams, but from all the examples I've seen I can't help but notice they all look brown to me. At least most all that I have seen. It started getting to the point that when I'd see a video online and see brown I'd look to see what camera it was shot with, knowing I already knew, and surely was right. It could be that all Sony users grade the same way, or to a certain point, but it leaves me looking elsewhere for my next camera. Add to that your helpful review regarding exposure and lens adapters, Andrew, and the case against them is that much harder to turn around for me. That's a good point, but doesn't simply have to do with Canon, but a lifetime of viewing pictures and viewing life. If it doesn't look like either, you have a problem.
  19. I do too. I'll keep an eye on early reviews, but without any it is still the camera that I'm most excited about. Love the images out of BMD.
  20. These have worked wonderfully for my Litepanels Astras at full power: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JWUDOJI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00
  21. Then you can crush the 15 second documentary market!
  22. I'm saving my money for it and am pretty confident that by the time I have this money it will be out and some kinks worked out ;-) However, being in my position keeps me from preordering and will save me if it flops. Everything I've seen or read tells me it probably won't though.
  23. I hear you, gh2sound, but I like to get to know the ins and outs of my gear. I'm not going to rent a Red Raven for my paying gig if I haven't used one yet. that's what a personal project is for, but not one paid for by my a client.
  24. This is why I don't even research Red cameras. They bait you with what you may be able to afford, then you see the reality upon further inspection.
