Forgive my ignorance on this topic, looking through the lawsuit is red patent that you cannot compress raw video and store it internally on a camera regardless of if you find a very new innovative way of doing it? Is the patent that it prohibits any form of lossless compress video been stored internally on a camera?

I am hopping so too or the GH6 is really gonna be a very niche product. I am thinking it will have at least one new feature to add to the list announced that we haven't seen in any other camera yet to demand that price. Something has to give, or maybe not lol.

This is what I have started to tell myself too. It may come down to me owning two cameras, One for still and the other for video or just as back up. That is my hope too. This camera to me will give me a clear path in terms of gear purchase for a while. I am hoping that Sony give it 24mp, 10 bit color, and 4k 60p full frame or slide crop. I will be happy with that.

I don't think my expectations and those of people wanting a good full frame hybrid camera are that high. I will be and I am willing to bet many people will be happy with the S5 if it had good video AF.

Very true, I was soo looking forward to dump my Nikon Z6 for the Canon R6 to get good video autofocus until the Canon over heating debacle side track my switch. As much as I like what Panasonic has to offer for full frame hybrid, their video AF is a no go for my needs. I am starting to tell myself, I may have to wait and see what the Sony A7IV will brings to make a move. Who knew it was gonna be this hard in 2020 for manufactures to deliver a "halfway" decent hybrid camera.

If many different reviews start uncovering over heating issues with the A7S III, then there needs to be an equal amount of outrage in this community as was sent to Canon R5 $ 6. I don't know about you guys but this truly makes me appreciate my current camera. I was telling myself, I may have to replace my Z6 with the R6 but looking at the reliability of these newly released cameras, my Z6 will definitely stay around for a long time! If over heating have never affected your shooting, then you don't know how it really sucks. Summer 2016, I save and planned a Europe Trip. I had the A6300 as my camera and though I was able to get some beautiful pictures and videos, I wasn't able to use it when I wanted to or I had to adjust the time of day that I go out exploring because the camera was overheating and shutting down. I had to use my phone for pictures and video for about half of the time After that experience, reliability became my number one factor in choosing a camera based on how I use it. Never will I buy a camera from any company if reliability wasn't great. I had to revert back to shooting with a mixture DSLR and mirrorless for a few years while waiting for what feels like that "unicorn" hybrid mirrorless camera. I guess the wait continues to see what the rumored Z6s will bring or if the next A7 IV will be what I need without any over heating or Panasonic will finally deliver with AF on the successor to the S1.

Again, I never said M43 was worse. I just prefer full frame photos more. When it comes to prices and weight of cameras, people have their own preference of what they can or cannot afford and what they consider too heavy. I can afford a full frame camera with 2 or 3 good lenses and carrying them when I travel is not an issue for me. You might say why not just get a DSLR? There are things about mirroless that I like, EVF is one of them.

I didn't even said I cropped the photo from the GH2, I said "The heavily crop D750 picture still look good compared to the GH2 ..." I never said M43 isn't capable. People have taken and continue to take great pictures with M43, I have taken lots of pictures with them. I just like a lot more my pictures taken with a full frame camera. Your point of printing 20MP 1DX and A9 (both full frames) that looks good and "having more MP is a “nice to have” but it is far from a requirement!" supports my point of me getting excited for the R6 (which is also 20MP)

Hope I don't derail this thread but no, it's not all in the head. I have had the Panasonic GH1, 2, and 3. I have briefly had the Sony A6300, and the Fuji XT-1. Have used a lot my friend's Nikon D7100, D750, and Sony A7 III. I have use those for personal and paid work. In a practical example, I have photos of my dad who recently passed that I took in 2011 with the GH2. In trying to put together a tribute to him, I found pictures of him that was taken in 2018 with a D750. I had to crop a picture a lot to get a nice portrait of him. The heavily crop D750 picture still look good compared to the GH2 especially as I had to print it on 23x23 inches. I also use my cameras a lot for travel photography and video. When I look at my photos taken over many years with different cameras, I like a lot those taken with my Z6. Low light photos are better, dynamic range better, skin tones better, highlight recovery better, the overall look of the full frame pictures just look better in my eyes. So no, I'm never going back to a crop sensor especially for stills. If Panasonic was to come out with a great GH6/s with PDAF, I will wait for them to get it to their S lineup to get onboard. Or maybe by that time Nikon would have come out with the rumored Z6s with good PDAF or Sony A7 IV comes out with good video specs. That's why I was getting excited for R6. Basically I want a good hybrid mirrorless full frame camera that I can take with me along with 2 or 3 lenses when I travel.

Oh no! Not going anywhere near a micro four thirds camera. Not even APSC. Full frame or bust. It was really too good to be true with Cannon. I'm gonna have to wait and see how the Sony and A7S II successor looks like. If it comes to the worse, I can keep my Nikon Z6 for stills and add to it what Sony releases. But I want to carry just a camera and 2 or 3 lenses when I travel. It's quite a boomer with this R6.

Like probably many of you, when I started reading about the R6 specs I was telling myself may be it's time to move over to Canon. Plan was to sell my Z6 and other lenses and move over. I guess that's not happening anytime soon. It begs the question why can't Panasonic give us a camera with good phase detect auto focus? I want a good hybrid (mirrorless) and the rumored 12MP of the A7S II replacement is a no go for me. At least 20MP which is why I was going to switch with the R6. Quite a disappointment!

3k anamorphic mode on the mini!! why not on the pocket cinema 4K? Any ideas, anyone ever asked black magic?

I experienced a lot worse with my Z 6 than he did and yes it does hunt but mine is just piss poor. And I did my test in 1080 24p not even 4k! The AF-F with mine didn't work most of the time. I had to use the back button AF to get it to focus. I will not use mine either with AF and Nlog, but comparing mine to his AF performance with Nlog and 10bit, it looks like his is almost usable. I guess I could have added that it does hunt a little. I have had the A7III for 2 months and used the Canon 5D IV for a week so I have some reference in term of AF performance from other competitors to compare the Z 6 with.

Like you that's what I'm asking myself too. They are talking about video AF and he talks about eye-AF coming, does that mean also available in video? Do it Nikon!

Interview with Nikon guy. At 5.48, they start talking about video AF and the nikon guy mentions about eye AF coming. I think someone mentioned that it works fine with the Z 7.

Yes with the filmaker's kit they should see that it doesn't work and better fix it because it makes no sense especially if someone (content creator) buys it only to find out that video AF sucks when connect to the monitor and shooting 10bit Nlog. Frankly, I much rather prefer the good video AF and Nlog over the ProRes Raw, it's just a nice to have if you ask me. Otherwise I will be looking at Sony's A7S III when it comes out. I am not holding my breath on the Panasonic's S1 video AF. So Nikon, get video AF on 10bit Nlog working and I will be a happy camper!

The eye AF is a feature from my days with Sony A7III that I didn't think I will miss that much on my Z 6. I am very exited for this one and I hope it works as good or even better! Dear Nikon, fix the video AF on the Z 6 when recording externally with Nlog turned on or conversely, make sure that video AF works well while recording ProRes Raw. Add exposure meter when shooting video and lastly improve low light AF. Do all those and you sure guarantee that will I keep my Z 6 till hopefully when the second generation of the Z bodies come out.

Good thing I saw this post cuz I was just about to place an order for their 50mm F1.8. I can confirm this too. Z 6 video AF don't focus for shit when recording via external recorder and 10bit or 8bit and Nlog is on. This would have being a deal breaker for me if I knew it before I buying the camera. Nikon better fix this soon! All my future purchase of any Nikon product is put on hold until they resolve this problem. How can we bring this issue up to Nikon? I am starting to feel like I should have gone with Sony. Let's wait and see what the A7S III will bring to the table. I still don't understand how it will work on the Z 7 but not on the Z 6. I tested it with the 24-70 lens.

I received my Z6 the other day and this is my quick first impression and usage after 2 days. Before I pre-ordered the Z6 I rented the Sony A7III and used for a month and was considering buying it. The Z6 feels very solid in the hands. You immediately get the confidence you can use it in any weather condition without worrying too much. It fits well in the hands. The EVF and screen in nice, big, and sharp. The buttons have a nice feel to it. The menu; a lot simpler than the Sony. I have to say I am fairly familiar with Nikon menu system from past usage but if you were to give both cameras to someone who has never used a Sony or Nikon before, their learning curve on the Nikon menu system will be fast. Within 30 mins, I will say I was very comfortable with where everything was on the menu. I only have the 24-70 f4s lens and I am quite impressed with that lens and the IQ I am getting with the Z6 and that lens. Even more impressive is the low light with that F4 lens. This camera may turn out to be the king of low light with other cameras at that price point. Video AF; sorry Panasonic I am so happy for you for your latest firmware update on the GH5/s but Nikon completely beat you at video AF on their very first attempt on a mirrorless camera! It’s quite impressive, I dare to say on par with Sony. Moreover, you get face detect AF when shooting 4k! On the video side of things, this camera is very capable! Of course, it doesn’t have the advanced video tools the GH5/s has but for most of the hybrid shootings I do, I will be ok. I wish this camera had is eye AF like Sony and better tracking when shooting stills. Eye AF is quite handy and useful when it works. There is quite a latency with this camera with what you see on the LCD and EVF, worse than any camera I ever used. I am still testing to see how long the battery will last compared with my time with the A7III, but I don't think it will measure up to the A7III. Overall so far, I think Nikon did an ok job with their first attempt in the mirrorless world. Are there things that need improvement, most definitely! For my kind of hybrid shooting, I think the Z6 will keep me going for a while. One last thing, I like their mobile phone and camera app (Snapbridge). The only camera that compares is Panasonic. (I have tried Fuji, Sony, Panasonic, and Nikon) It still amazes me how camera companies still haven’t yet made communication between the camera and mobile device effortless. Off to more shooting and testing.

Anyone familiar with or have used Feiyu Tech gimbals to comment about their quality? Another gimbal option for the BMP4K I just stumbled across is the Feiyu Tech AK4000 and I am actually considering or the Moza Air 2.

I recently found and bought a kowa B&H 2x from a local camera store. I am not very knowledgeable with anamorphic shooting but all I know is I love it a lot! What's the difference between 16mm/35mm and 8mm anamophic scopes? Does that mean if I were to get the ProtoDNA, it will not work on my Kowa? I really like how the breathing is well controlled on the ProtoDNA compared to the core DNA.

That too or also the Zhiyun crane 2 but I have used a gimbal with the slanted design a couple of times and I prefer those. I am leaning heavily towards the Moza air 2 because it's a little lighter and cheaper for more payload and features than the Ronin S. I don't see zhiyun doing anything anytime soon to address the P4k balancing issues on the Weebill Lab plus even if they do, I don't see it being in the market anytime soon. I am sure they will say get their Crane 3 which for me looks too big.
