  1. Gotcha. Yeah, that's a pretty telling comparison pic. Thought if it was all tungsten, that might explain it. Color seems pretty bad on BM cameras with tungsten for whatever reason.
  2. No doubt, 5D raw is still some of the nicest looking stuff I've seen from any camera. Never ceases to blow me away.
  3. The only ones in the low end that seem to rival Canon with color is Blackmagic. Although I recently edited stuff from the Nikon D750 and I was definitely pleased with that stuff, color wise.
  4. Looks great! I could see it being a fantastic wedding cam. What do you use for a stabilizer?
  5. Just finished a wedding edit on the new version. I'm pleased. Seems a bit snappier and less prone to slowdown even once the project/timeline gets really big. 4K seems to edit a little easier. The last version had memory leak issues, which was driving me nuts. Really happy with this version so far (fingers crossed)

Just curious, how many EOSHD regulars dabble in photography as well? Andrew, how about you? Been shooting video for years and years, but have recently become more and more into the photography side of things. The GH4 seems pretty decent as a photo cam too. I make my money doing video but I'm starting to see the appeal of branching out.
  7. It isn't hard at all. But he won't. Because you know, reasons.
  8. Even though I disagree, at the end of the day you are choosing to see the good and giving him the benefit of the doubt, so I cannot fault you at all. Perhaps I am too cynical!
  9. I'm guessing you haven't seen this kind of behavior before. That's fair. I certainly have. Liars, sociopaths, narcissists can very often come across as quite charming. But here's your chance, ED. Prove me wrong!
  10. I suppose he can't help being a pathological liar. I'm not sure where we are supposed to draw the line, though. Psychopaths and spree killers can't exactly help how they were born/wired either. Should it be group hugs for everyone?
  11. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah................. before we all sing kumbaya, I'm betting 99% that he's a pathological liar and none of you are getting anything. Happy to be wrong, but that's how I'm calling it.
  12. Good lord. a few hours ago, I thought "man, I haven't been on EOSHD in a few weeks, I wonder what's happening over there. Probably the same old."
  13. Awesome, thanks for the info. That solved my two biggest problems with the new update. I was about to write it off for now, but it seems to be working well at the moment!
  14. Ahhh the 4K discussions. They always bring out a lot of emotion! It's a tool, like anything else. Very useful at times. Less so at other times, depending on what it comes at the expense of. I make use of re-framing alot with weddings, because things happen fast and you don't always get the chance, or even the placement, for perfect framing. Having that security is welcome. I also quite like it with low budget talking heads, because you can get 2 angles in one shot. I also concede that my frame of reference is watching things on a 24inch 1080p monitor from 3 feet away. Perhaps a larger, 4K monitor would blow me away and the difference would be obvious. Even if it's more detailed, it's hard for me to see *good* 1080p (ie: C100/300, bmpcc, downscaled 4k etc..) and see it as not good enough. From my perspective, that's plenty detailed and more would simply be a bonus. I don't think you can ever have too much, to the point that it's detrimental, because there will always be certain filters and lenses that can take the edge off. But yeah, 1080p BMPCC raw image beats 4K GH4 image pretty much 10/10 times. Resolution certainly isn't everything, and becomes exponentially unimportant past a certain point. I *really* cannot imagine caring that much to jump from 4K to 8K with video.
  15. ^ What is the counter logic? Not trolling, genuinely curious.
  16. There was a big thread on bmcuser arguing the same thing. Someone else posted an example proving that assuming crop + aperture math is correct, the look will be the same. Though at some point, there won't be a lens wide and fast enough to mimic certain full frame lenses.
  17. If there's one that's the best when combining all 3, I think it's the GH4. Not the single best in any category, but solid in each. Fantastic doc camera. Fantastic travel camera. And while there is a better, it's still a fantastic film camera in the right hands, especially with a speedbooster and the right lenses.
  18. It's not like it's the worst image ever, but it's hard to justify it when there's others that are better. Even a GH2 is still better, image wise. That said, for your criteria listed, it probably is the best option at the moment.
  19. Price is the only thing that scares me away, but I'm sure it'll be a great lens. OIS isn't as big a deal on wider lenses anyway. I'm curious to see it on the BMPCC as mucxh as I am on the GH4.
  20. I would be curious how many people are required to deliver 4K to their clients. I'm not big time time by any stretch, but it's still always 1080p for me. No one has ever mentioned requiring 4K.
  21. Haven't used the mini, but to this day, the C100 has been the most pleasant "get out of the way and shoot" camera I've ever used. A joy to work with. Quality was always great, despite the weak codec. Doesn't need much tweaking in post because the Canon color is so pleasant out of the box.
  22. I think it's alot like Twixtor, depends on the scene and background. I've used RealSmart Motion Blur, and it's hit or miss. Sometimes it works great. Other times, if it's a limb passing in front of a complicated background, there can be funky artifacts. At least with motion blur, as opposed to Twixtor, the artifacts are less noticeable because they occur so quickly. I would never depend on it as opposed to a proper ND filter, but it can work in a pinch.
  23. I don't think so. Most video cameras screen grabs will still be inferior to a DSLR still. DSLRs will all shoot raw, with higher bit depth and better dynamic range, for the most part. Unless you pull stills from a really high end RED, ARRI, or Varicam in RAW, I don't see them competing. Honestly, even then, I don't. Take a 5D MkIII still at full resolution and picture any current video reproducing that in motion? I don't see it. Maybe I'm wrong.
  24. With humor, sure, that makes sense. But not with a video of a social phenomenon. I posted something to serve as an observation for how people behave in a particular situation. I did not say who I thought was right or wrong. It's just "look, here's how people behave in X situation" A non judgmental observation. Which is why I said "turns out people get mad when you film them". Which, according to this video, they do. Say some asshole does a crime and goes to trial. He gets off. The news reports it. People will post the video clip of that report for two reasons. Either in support of the verdict, or to declare their outrage at the verdict. Some might even do it for a "huh, what do you know?" impartial reason. All valid. Not all will share where they stand on the issue. So this, "You posted it blankly, when you post videos blankly it says to the viewer that I 100% agree with what was said.", I disagree with.
