In short, yes. Approved camera lists are meaningless, at least to me. Respectable, but just part of the marketing game ; ) A (good) hint, as you wish. No more, no less. Important is that your DoP feels comfortable with. He/She MUST approve it, count on it :- )
-
If fits your expertise, your content will be the variable. Everything else, secondary. Your standard can and should take in consideration their approved cameras list if you'll work directly from a budget raised with their own money. Otherwise, if they will take your content, they don't give a damn what camera you shot your product with. Netflix or anyone else. Even BBC I'd say, the most complicated people because of their technical & engineering staff reputation. They push a bit their envelope further but not enough to veto your content unless you messed up around the whole thing. But then, you're in trouble from scratch : D Craft is key. I'll give you an example: As producer, I would trust on Dennis @deezid and hire him. He would tell me the camera he would like to shoot and work with, just in the case the producer or director hadn't proposed him a camera system and workflow to begin with. Well, if our budget wouldn't tell to all of us in advance... LOL That is, the level of expertise : ) In a line... that's all about that: content (1). Two lines? It is surely supposed your craft (2) won't fail. Cameras are non-primary.

I see lot of people have a romanticized idea how the distribution or the film production is made. One thing is the 'Originals' label, the other one is the content previously produced. If you're luck enough the aggregator you hired got success to gather their interest, they will hardly care about the technical specs of your piece other than how you'll deliver it to them. That's the quality of the craft they're looking for, definitely not the camera. It's just strictly from a geek option route starting cult. Any reality to back it? Makes little sense to none.
-
In Netflix, their executives look for pictures from aggregators who pitch the content, not cameras. This is not-variably just a mere fuss from a bunch of camera geeks, who keep dreaming to be the next discovery to be found directly within their catalogue.

Will Canon recall the EOS R5? Small first shipments
Emanuel replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
It's funny, I haven't seen Canon fanboys over here, really : ) The owner of the site is brand agnostic and known for a very particular criticism of his own to also comprehend Canon, so where are they? : D On the contrary, we cannot exactly say the same about their detractors over these same pages, isn't it? ; -) -

I really doubt this second body model will ever see the day. They have the C series for motion picture, their offer -- for the role of your workhorse. Accordingly a higher price to pay for. Only a workaround can save the grace IMO. -

To be brand agnostic can be the right medicine... : ) Just sayin' ; ) Let's focus on topics and not throwing stones to whoever has a different opinion from ours, please? :- ) We won't nor need changing the planet or opinions of the rest of the world. -
I wouldn't call ridiculous, just not definitive... ; ) ...but yes, clickbait is clickbait : D There are still some other YT channels to promote fake IQ comparison tests, go figure... LOL Misinformation should be punished anyway. You can blame YT for that. And the stupid audiences as well for sure.

Let's face it. Brand agnosticism doesn't hurt. Too small cage, not proper heat dissipation... The question is why that? Is weather sealed the price to pay for? Or the high-end of theirs? Do we want to pay it?

No need. You have a point. Just ignore when people want a monochromatic world. No matter what, your point stands. -

5.1K mode apparently is safe. Insulting R5 adopters with fanboyism is no sense. At a certain point this dead horse as well flogging the issue, any attempt of finding a workaround, becomes a disservice. -

Nice to know, I hate to swap formats and throw away my lenses collection. Really. Counting with the same performance as with native Canon R mount glass means I can only focus on the price for body + accessories. Lenses should not be included in the same pack. They are the pyramid's platform. Looks like most part of posters here tend to forget it. Once overheating will be under control or more news how to handle a workaround will pop up around, I see this camera as the best current offer to fit my needs and liking. Seems pretty clear to me that this 5.1K option route will put this device in some upper degree, in point of fact. Isn't it in behalf of this we are using a camera forum to exchange ideas and information we can adapt for our shooter's life? ; ) If “multiple solutions” or “a full statement and plan in the coming weeks” will kill the fair overheating concerns, who won't try to have one? I predict this camera can be as much revolutionary as 5DII was a decade ago. We also had to wait until no more workarounds were necessary along that late 2008 and early 2009, even though, much easier from a mere firmware update then, it finally happened: -

Love Canon outcome, no match anywhere else to my eyes and taste... The more I watch Canon stuff the more I realize I am condemned to spend €3285 in USD for one unit, that is, if I will find where to get supply for soon : ) Just sold. -
Absolutely. Blackmagic is the most valuable brand ever in the history of the medium IMO. And we are not exactly lovers... : D

C'mon, let's accept it, Canon is still the king/queen, no matter what, just take a look on the tourists cameras... ; -) -
Yes and not only about RS... I think R5 is overall a better capture device but it is natural some people will choose one over the other. We cannot share all the same option for our fav colour or the world would be monochromatic : -)

Yeah, Italy is an irresistible old/new love we always want to return back... no doubt : ) Have you given up from R5, Chris? I didn't yet... ; -)

Autofocus. AF speed is properly adjusted to account for and leverage the shorter focal length and the brighter maximum aperture. Dual-pixel autofocus (DPAF) and video AF support. Focal length and aperture are adjusted in EXIF (see note 3). Image stabilization (IS) lens support. Store EXIF data (lens name, focal length and maximum/minimum aperture) for one manual lens in the adapter. Build-in multi-function Control Wheel (turn/ push-in) for assignable functions(eg. ISO, shutter speed or aperture control, depth-of-field preview). LED indicator shows communication status. Powered by camera body. With most lenses, no external power source required. source With Tilta's cooling workaround, I know I will end to buy one... Canon is like Blackmagic to digital filmmaker, it is synonymous of the world of pictures itself ; ) BTW we're shooting three short films and a feature film from a C500 these days, works like a charm! : -) -
C'mon Danilo, this (talented) guy knows of his craft... ; ) Orson Welles once said about Rossellini, he was not such a big deal... : X Because all Italians are great actors, that's the whole point according to his refined state of the art sarcasm... LOL : -)

Only you, Chris, to make me have a good laugh today... Have you ever been in Italy (especially from Tuscany to South)? ; ) Funny and informative review in Italian, that's for sure... @Danilo Del Tufo Pretty curious definition of Italian joy & cinema BTW ; -)

I agree skin tones are crucial. I disagree skin tones are the new form for art of film... : -)

Both are correct : -)
