Not only theirs... ; ) Mine and many others. In essence, photography is shutter, ASA, ISO, whatever, that is, sensitivity and aperture. What else? Maybe AF and monitoring features assist today. Other than that, it is much... LESS ...pretty BS for geeks (not for shooters) to my book : -)

Well, visually lossless happens to be the new paradigm. There's no controversy, only for a few which means to be pointless : -) All this pretentious purism is nonsense when there's no actually scientific tests to testify any lack of flawless claims. The patent topic is even beyond than that (written by a lawyer as secondary background). Fat eye as Brazilians call. Without mention that RED (the other contender other than Adobe also befriended of this scribe BTW) is already used to open files (Arri, Sony...) only to close settling all them somehow later on. Let alone David Newman per se, if memory applies.

This doesn't mean it is lossy, just means can touch both extremities of the ruler. Both sides. Lossless front as well. BRAW is as flexible as that. Nothing new to see here on such. ProRes, as for instance, also varies from 422 Proxy more modest bitrate up to 4444. Six different options IIRC, right? So, six now with BRAW too. What's the beef then? It is up to you to decide where you sit yourself.

I follow your videos for awhile. Do you accept a suggestion though? : ) Go beyond your own taste as far as grading concerns. Your footage asks for multiple paths IMO.

Be welcome @jsfilmz to the forum ! What glass set BTW?

Threads are a good place for healthy discussion, trade of ideas and alike. As much as life, the hell is full of good intentions, which doesn't mean we must give up to listen something outside our bubble. Miracles happen at times, more often than strictly a skeptical standpoint makes the best to still believe, there's variably the chance of a rainbow when rains ; -)

Has to? This doesn't match some information I've got along my course : ) Even though, that argument of a fine must apply in a way or another, I wouldn't surprise myself if there is some gap within the legal text which may end explored in a way or another as well. It may happen to be more a matter of requirements fulfillment than anything else, I guess. I still stand to see any Leica product with the 'made in Portugal' label but they have an important factory right here. A bit weird, isn't it? ; -)

I don't know about this specific model. I just reproduce what I've heard from people working there. AFAIK there are two manufacturing units. People in one of those units hinted in that route already above-posted.

Yeah, I guess so. In another OT note though, AF was improved with the new firmware update. I much prefer the manual focus lenses where it is quicker to have full access to aperture and focus rings with that large monitor facility. That LCD + focus assist combination rules over any AF out there. Moreover, you can even handle accurate AF tap-to-focus as you wish. Even without the focus assist I had no time to set up yesterday noon before to push the recording button for mere casual family shooting. As fast as I would do it with a smartphone. Well, I'd even say, much quicker interface experience : D I had downloaded the new firmware version the night before. Do not forget to firstly press the focus button if your computer won't recognize your camera when you'll update the firmware. Focus seems easy to catch from that lovely monitoring surface. Impressive tool indeed. I wouldn't pick any other capture device for motion picture instead... as simple as that : -)

Funny. I didn't find any delay. Yesterday, I went to my nephew baptism. I arrived very delayed with traffic coming from another town. I forgot to add the SSD, used to the SD card to record ProRes. In a few seconds, I picked up my SSD from a tiny photo bag and started to shoot BRAW Q5 practically instantaneously... I did find zero delay in-camera to be pretty honest : -) BTW, in a word: BEAUTIFUL. This is more than a camera, more than a format, this is a dream to finally become true.

Master counts, not much else : -)

Really? Real world feeling is instantaneously... as much as ANY other similar device. Actually, it is. I feel people outside tend to see it as a RED ONE. It isn't in every aspect whatsoever. Not even 5:1 compressed raw. You can reach 3:1 or constant quality mode(s) recording raw, let alone not complicated at all, so...

Exactly the same impression from some little information so far though, so yours counts indeed : ) Thanks for your input expressed here. : -)

As matter of fact, same thought here and asked exactly that. The people with whom I've chatted with, they were very proud of their product. Their info seemed legit to me. Thanks for the link. I'm afraid this is not the whole picture of the real thing, though. I just reproduce the contact I had in person. Maybe some models are in one factory, other models in the other one. But even when I asked about that, they hinted me the Portuguese factory is their main production house. I just know what I listened in first hand, that is, from people working there. I will even try to reach them again with that one and check that.

What I've heard from people inside there, is: Design and final assembly, as well, packaging happen in Germany. Everything else in their Portuguese unit in V. N. Famalicão, which means the most part indeed. I've retained something like 80-85% last time I heard, a year ago or so. That 'made in Germany' is well worthy and one of their major selling points. Reason why they do it like that. Other than that, they would probably have the whole manufacturing line in Portugal. Not my words though : -) I can give you another example. In 70-80s my family was used to pick up TV sets only about 20 kms away of Leica's factory today, from Grundig factory in Braga (our first two color TV sets came from there... Blackmagic color science was still a bit far away then LOL my father was friend of their man in charge there, a nice German engineer BTW, I was their volleyball team's player in mid-80s, we were used to put our eyes on those girls with German surnames from mixed marriages : D) and every units had that famous 'made in Germany' graciously inscribed there despite to be fully manufactured and assembled in my native country (I guess, only packing was used to happen in Nuremberg, very likely, not sure of this latter one though ; -)

Mate, Portuguese origin can't be plastic... Our country sums 9 centuries of history! LOL ; -)
