I guess You're Right. Magic Lantern had a large team of developers who didn't unearth RAW already hiding within the features or capabilities of a camera (ala how Cinelike V and D were unearth on the GX85/80). They created RAW specifically, from the ground up. While the NX1 could be hacked into shooting all sorts of codecs, it would require some seriously intensive work, by a large group, not by some guy who randomly read a reference interview of a Samsung official who outlined the capabilities of the sensor and processor. I don't doubt for a second that a hacked NX1 would be wayyyy more capable than the 5D Mark iii with Magic Lantern. What I doubt is, whether someone in this thread has already done it. This was, therefore, a damp squib. R.I.P.

JK: It's 4:2:2 out the HDMI 1.4 port; it's 4:2:0 as it goes to the SD. And it's H.265 to the card for both HD and 4K, so whatever video mode you're saving to SD card, it's using H.265, so you're going to get much more efficient and better-quality HD out of it." I am guessing it's a spftware limitation since it does write RAW photos to card.

I am guessing the difference in HLG may be much less. You either expose for the highlights OR the shadows. Also the colour isn't as flat as Log. It is therefore much closer to non-log profiles.

Hahaha. I never get the obvious. Maybe it helps that I didn't read any reviews that said that there any issues with photo and video. I wonder if they could do a 200mbps 4-2-2 8-bit codec too. I am guessing this could handle it internally. And if these cameras were tested in the desert, I am sure heat may not be an issue.

I was unable to see it. Was it perhaps due to the camera units being review units? To prevent then from being stolen (either the cameras or the videos) perhaps?

Jordon Drake is the tall, seemingly uncomfortably in front of the camera guy. The other guy is Chris Niccolls, who has enough hair gel/ hair wax for a an entire village. They actually do a superb job with their reviews. Jordon implied that the viewfinder had major issues, but as Chris pointed out, he probably exaggerated the claims. They have improved it majorly, even if it isn't in GH5/G6 territory.

Based on your argument, since Canon had been leading the ILC market for the longest, there was no need to introspect on the need for lighter weatherproof cameras and cameras that do nore than Full Frame/ 1080p. I remembered the BBC argument because of bitrate requirements previously, I guess during the time of the GH2 and/or a few other cameras. I thought it hasn't even been released it yet. This is too random, and doesn't really mean anything. 1. I don't live in the States, but I pick up equipment all the time from there. I am sure a lot of people buy equipment from the States, who don't live there. 2. You assume professional photographers only have 1 camera or use 1 camera at a time. I know many professional photographers who own 3-4 cameras at a time. 3. Many people buy high end ILCs, and are brilliant at photography, and they aren't really professional photographers (in the sense that they don't sell their pics). Both these suggestions seem fair. I don't know why users globally should have to suffer due to some stupid EU laws.

Since Sony seems to have addressed the overheating, low battery life and IBIS (except when walking) issues, I wonder if a lot more people would move to Sony (at the A7 iii price range of cameras) if the 30min recording time limit were removed (it seems to be the only serious shortcoming for people looking to shoot longer work like concerts and ENG stuff)? The Sonys seem to have some excellent autofocus for video (and obviously stills), something missing in the Panasonics. The A7iii lacks serious weather sealing (it has resistence or something), which is ok for most people I guess. Lens prices were prohibitive for a lot of good zooms and many primes, but since Sigma seems to have promised 9 lenses for the Sony A series, I guess that issue, to some extent, should also be addressed. The 10-bit video codec mandate is great, but it sounds more like fuddy duddy fluff, almost like some ludicrous rules made, which don't affect final delivery, but merely interfere with your choice of camera. I remember the BBC also making all sorts of such strange and unnecessary rules. Is there any other feature that people think is necessary in Sony cameras (8-bit 4-2-2 internal?), which is missing presently?

If Sony implemented Unlimited Recording Time, I could see this eating into the GH5's market (except where 10-bit 4-2-2 is necessary) big time. No over heating issues, LCD that can be seen in bright light and great battery life (comparable with the GH5). Sony seems to be finally listening. If they redesigned the menu fron scratch, added time-lapse and added some 4-2-2 8-bit internal codec, that could effectively end it for a lot of players. For $1999, this is a lot of camera. I hope Sigma hurries up with their promised new lenses.

Pretty amazing. Don't you think we should have a "Bring Back the NX Series" Thread for Samsung, and promise to pick up (atleast) 1 each of the NX2 if they bring it back. A Kickstarter kind of Campaign where there are Pre-Orders based on stated specs may be a great idea. From the look of things above, even the NX1's processor may be able to handle a lot more juice, with merely a completely new processor onboard. Like 8-bit or 10-bit, and some HDR tricks in JPEGs like in Smartphones.

Absolutely. Also, the chances of dust and other stuff landing on the sensor is enormous, anywhere outside of a very small closed studio. I saw this beautiful location for a film (we were on a reccee), and I usually change lenses all the time, and almost, inadvertently changed lenses here. Luckily I didn't, cause this is like a mini canyon, with sand and dust, and that would have been the end of the reccee.

I think Olympus makes some seriously amazing lenses. I would love to see Panasonic make some super fast zooms (f2.0 or faster). I see no reason why they shouldn't be developing super fast zooms. I love primes, but it's a nuisance changing lenses on the field. How about an f2 set (12-40mm and 35-110mm equivalent) and an f2.8 12-80mm equivalent.

I watched this and a few other reviews of the Kinnefinity Terra 4k camera and all seem to suggest excellent low light, due to the dual iso mode (which incidently sets in automatically). I am suddenly wondering why doesn't Blackmagic pop one of these sensors into the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera for version 2.0, and improve the low light (along with battery life, sound preamps and get a decent articulating screen). The sensor size is on the lines of the JVC GY-LS300 (not identical though). Even if it prices the camera at $1500-$2000, it will be a runaway success.

I thought the Dynamic Range was substantially improved after the firmware update. I remember reading the Exynos 9810 specs to be a 24MP for Rear and Front Cameras (down from 28MP in the Exynos 8895). I am sure the exact camera specs can eadily be changed with a minor ISP refit. Also, everyone knows the Exynos 9810 can do both 10-bit video and high frame rate 4k. If even 75% of this rumour is true, Samsung is going to be back in the race. Like someone mentioned in 43rumors.com, Samsung should just buy out Nikon, and leverage that for a long term goal.

The GH5s and the JVC GY-LS300CH seem to have highlighted 2 fundamental facts about the M43 system. 1. That the sensor size is small, whereas tbe mount isn't much smaller than Super35 size. 2. The design of M43 sensors could be larger, especially if they do not have IBIS (such as in the GH5s). Also, since video requires wide aspect ratios such as 16:9, the area around the sensor could be extended to cover a larger sensor (like Super 35 for example), much closer to the electronic contact points on the camera. I am suddenly wondering whether Panasonic should have fit a Super35 sizes sensor into the GH5s, like the one fit into the JVC GY-LS300CH which has a M43 mount, since the chances of people using it for photos would be much less? That could have provided significantly more pixels that mattered, and a noticeably larger sensor than M43. Also, since there isn't any IBIS, the larger sensor could have translated into even larger pixels.

Apparently the Mavic Air also doesn't have the D-Log. It Only has the D-Cinelike. I hope they Correct that with a Firmware. The Lesser Lowlight capabilites due to the Slower Aperture and the Higher Bitrate on the Air, could seriously use a Log profile. IMHO

They actually lowered the lens brightness from f2.2 on the Mavic Pro to f2.8 on the Mavic air. So it gets 3/4th of a stop less light that the Mavic Pro (I hope those are the correct figures). The slightly under-exposed videos were mildly apparent. Apart from that, it seems way better than the Mavic Pro and the Spark, for the buck. I know people have relaced the broken Mavic Pro lens, which has requires a little effort because 2 screws and one electrical connection point are involved. I wonder if the Mavic Pro lens could be fitted on the Mavic Air.

That one's actually a regurgitated Hubsan X4 at about 3 or 4 times the price with a 720p camera. Btw some Chinese guy hacked the camera on the Hubsan and changed it with a much higher res model. And i think the module was available ovet the shelf for like $10 or $20.

Hahaha. Not sure what the record quality on tjat would be. Or the minutes of flight. How about a drone that does what the Fraudulent/ Scam Lily Drone promised. Doing underwater and in the sky, without changing anything. That would be a first. And like a 1 hour flight time.

I saw this too. It's almost like anyone says the word Drone anywhere in the world, and DJI introduces a new camera. Andrew Reid could you Please create a New Thread/ Article on the 3 Drones we want DJI to make, at 3 Price Points (maybe at $999, $1999, $2999) with Features outlined for Each Price point. We could maybe have a discussion on it and take it forward. They could include the 1/2.3" sensor with like 100mbps H.265 codec, a 1" sensor drone and another higher lineup. Btw the Tagline "Adventure Unfolds" perhaps hints at some kind of sports featured drone?
