the baby hypergonar should not be tampered with any attempt to tweak will possibly destroy the optics leave it alone is best.
the optics are sealed into the housing .
a few of these have been destroyed during attemps to take  apart.
the only way is to cut the body into 2 pieces you then run the risk of horrible vibration damage to the optics.

they are simple single element optics with an airgap.
try a moller at f1.4
try these new lens and tell us about state of the art optics.

since nasa is dead it is up to china to take us to the stars but not for a few more years methinks.

the baby hypergonar as i describe on flikr shows what a great man chretien the designer was.
it is superior to the  isco 1.5x

it has to do with the focal length of each optic i am sure they are different in hypergonar and in small isco.
also glass materials will be different.
isco probably used 2 of the same glass types only in this model.

baby hypergonar uses different materials that give a more usable result.
you could call it an air spaced achromat.
as stated they will both suffer because of tiny back element.

the isco has nothing to do with moller.
remember these are all companies all using patent systems.
different glass materials are being used in every lens to avoid patent conflict

when you get to the 1970s it becomes much more of a free for all companies are copying and patent cases do not show up much.
apart from whem kowa tried to make a focus lens like the iscorama


my close up doublet does a great job on all of these wacky lens the low magnification power is the key.
if i was selling an anamorphic with the doublet i would keep the doublet because it is so good and flexible.
using a single element close up you are adding more chromatic aberration in.
sometimes in footage i see what appears out of focus is terrible ca and coma.
dp's  in hollywood in the 20s,30s and 40s understood the difference between depth of field,point of focus and bokeh.

when early bausch and lomb cinemascope arrived they where horrified at the mess and poor quality.
chretien sold the concept and the americans believed they could do a better job they did not.
chretiens original lens for the mitchell camera was similar in size to the iscorama 36.
but a square box design.
hollywood made them much bigger.
chretien could control the quality with small optics so less error.

hollywood wanted big

chromatic aberation is optical error and nasty looking.
bokeh is romance and natural.
i have a couple of old hollywood optics one from the 50s and one from the 60s proper camera lens not projection.
and to my horror when i got them one needs f8 the other f8.5 that is why hollywood loved big lights in the 50s

i did years ago with a real bolex also with the gh1.
a lot of the variables are to do with lens condition abuse,budget optics.
the top line switar where used by bbc type natural history cameramen some where treated well others abused from a life spent in jungle or ice.
 
i always found the original olympus pen lens more interesting with iscorama back in the day just a case of trying matching.
some of the most expensive optics i had did not match well with iscorama.most stuff works.
 like making love to a fat girl it works but you get the feeling while you are doing it that it kind of isn't as good as it could be.

26mm macro switar....16mm ccd sensor and baby moller would be sublime match.
 
i collect fast lens have a few of the old greats 1 would suggest that some of the switars are very usable at 1.1.
clearly at f1.4-1.8 it starts getting very handy.

hello my dad worked on the mk ultra brain erase program in the late 60s he has given me one of his retina projection optics it is called iscorama. dual squashed images where projected into each eyeball via face diopter googles with mini view screen attachments. cinemascope images of naked girls into one eyeball blood and guts ultra violence into the other.
 
dad said he had hours of fun with this optic but ho hum it has gotta go.
 
the lens has been cleaned of dried blood,spit and distemper and it is ready to go. anyone any idea which model this is ? my dad loved his job working on the cia operation gladio kill projects.
but he told me to sell this sucker quick before the coming price collapse.

i a making 2 new screw adapters for the small isco 36 type one split in 2 parts so using one part you much closer optic to optic coupling.
the other a very posh screw thread system that you can wind the 52mm thread in towards the isco or out towards the taking lens.
you can change the optic to optic relationship difference in a pretty big range giving you super close distance or standard distance.
quickly changing adapter position depending on your taking lens.
you can also use this the adapter to change orientation another issue with old isco is the internal orientation system can get rough or difficult or sometimes uncouples over time

Interestring that you were searching the perfect 8mm anamorphic. Perfection is hard to find. For sure many of us are addicted to anamorphics. Searching, collecting, selling. It is not so easy to be happy with what you have. You own or have owned many anamorphics I think (Iscorama, Lomos...) Great that you found the full package now!  :)
I like the tiny Bolex Möller so much: Lightweight and very easy to use instead of double focussing. After one day of practice you can do some rack focussing as well.  :wub:
