4. Hi, I have the same issue to see the footage on GH2. I just turn off and then on to see the clip. I think your sd card is fine with the time. My 32 gb card give me something like 43 minutes with intra esting. I use sandisk class 10 30 MB/s. http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-Flash-memory-Class/dp/B002TQ6HT6 Very stable and good. Good luck. Francisco.
5. Hi, Here's a really "petit"... Take a look. MY ANAMORPHIC LOVE (SLR Magic 50mm f/0.95 + Berthiot Tiny Cinemascope 2X lens) Is 2x, but I really like these aspect. Cheers.
6. Ron, the adaptor has a ring to move. When you put the lens on , the ring has to be on one position and after the lens is on , you move the ring back. My adaptor has two position Lock and open. Take a look on these and you will have control on the iris, otherwise the lens will be always open. Cheers.
7. Here's a link: http://www.redstan.com/ Here in Chile I have also a a Man in Santiago who made very high quality Clamps. Cheers.
8.   :-[ ohoh. Sorry Ed, I pointed smite by error. I didn't know what's smite or karma means on the blog...I don't know how to revert it and of course I don't have no intension to create problem on your karma... I like very much your work with lomo! My english is terrible and hope you all wil be patience with me. Thanks for all te help between us. My best wishes for all the community and special to Andrew's work. Francisco. Joshua, I know you got the amazing 95 mbits card(I thing there's no other better). But take a look to intra-esting and make some proof. The intra esting is 88 mbits ( intra frame like roadrunner) and the look is really great with no much effort to gh2 and computer's cpu. 1 minute means something like 700 mb with intra esting. At least you will know this patch that's fantastic. Cheers. P.D: When you have the ptools aplication, are you sure to click the button below to charge the patch? On my first time it happend to me. I didn't click the button and no patch went to charge the parameters. Then I uploaded the firmware with no hackers parameters just the standards. The 132 mb per minutes you said, looks like a standard no hacker record quality. Francisco.
9. Joshua, can you tell us about your mac specs? I use intra esting from Andrew with sandisk class 10 30 mbits. First I copy the footage through media converter to see, selected and make footage 's offline. I don't preserve the original mts, but for very important work I keep a copy of mts folder. Then I use compressor to convert to prores 422 for FCP's edition. In compressor you got the advantage to make in outs selections points of each clip. Also you can use Q master configurations to make compresor faster . http://web.mac.com/mikedcurtis/iWeb/HD4NDs_Image_Galleries/FasterCompressor3.html Then I edit with the prores footage. I have a macbook middle 2010 with 8 gb and there's no problem to see the footage in fcp7 or quicktime. To see the footage after media converter I like to use VLC. Saludos.
10. Rosebud, I think there's no alternative to reduce the size of the conversion. If you want to preserve the original quality of the file , you have to use Prores 422 and so you can have a good workflow in FCP7. Maybe there's an alternative. Always preserve the original footage of GH2. For offline work, make a transfer on FCP7 (Log and transfer) to Prores 422 proxy. (It's better to do inside FCP7 the conversion) http://documentation.apple.com/en/finalcutpro/professionalformatsandworkflows/index.html#chapter=10%26section=2%26tasks=true Use the proxy for just to see, paste and cut. The proxy will be a reduce size for the footage. Then for the final cut or online , take the selected mts footage and convert to prores 422 with optimal quality. The Final and definitiv solution is change to Premiere.... I have the same problem as you and  I didn't yet change to Premiere . I will but need time to study a new workflow with premiere. Saludos.
11. I found these. Maybe can helps. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?233022-Heads-explode-GH2-film-mode-test-charts Saludos!

14. Hi, Welcome!! Bienvenido ! I recommend the panasonic leica for steady work. The leica has the option for automatic focus that can be better for your steadycam work. Also the 25mm focal lenght is better to handle in steady than the 35mm. And at last the leica is lighter than the samyang. Take a look on these videos: Musgo Trailer Making of Musgo(part I) You will see the gh2 working on a steadycam very similar to yours( it's the same but british) I don't know much about time lapse. I used the internal option of the GH2 ( 300%) and works fine. I used for clouds. I know there is twixtor but I didn't use it yet. Good luck! Francisco.
15. Hi Craig, Take a look on: http://www.eoshd.com/gh2-patch-vault You have to shoot with each one and then watch the footage to make conclusions. And the same for the others. I like and recomend the EOSHD Intra-esting. Excellent quality( 88Mbit AVCHD Intra) and allows to record more then 10 minutes without stop. Also you get a intraframe codec ( there's no groups of frame) wich is better to perform on my imac(CPU). A 32 gb's card means 44 minutes record time. I use Sandisk class 10 30mbits. Saludos. Francisco.
16. Hi, It depends... The gh2 is the best audio DSLR. You got some audio controls like four steps of volume and you can watch the meters all the time. There is no hiss... Always will be better to record on external machine with a lossless resolution (wav), XLR robust connection ( also you got more options to choose shotguns ) ,  but that mean to use more gear and more work on post. I like very much the internal audio option you got with GH2 and the best thing is to have different options to choose. I see my GH2 like a modular cam so you can use it just alone with minimal things or for some production with more gears and things. These are my options with audio: 1. GH2 alone with internal stereo mic. It's the best internal stereo mic in dslr market. I have some foam(DIY) on the stereo to minimize the wind. I can control the volume in four steps. 2. GH2 with rode Videomic pro with deadcat. These shotgun is fantastic in terms of weight, size and perfomance. I can control in GH2 the volume in four steps and also the mic has three position(-10,0, 20 db). I always use on gh2 the minimum gain and the rode on -10 or 0 db. The results are very good. 3.GH2 with Sony lavalier. Works well. 4.GH2 with Zoom h4n and rode ntg1. The zoom provides phantom to energize the rode. Sometimes I use at the same time lavalier and shotgun on the zoom so I have two independent audio channels to choose. The zoom has four tracks so you can record on the internal stereo plus the the shotgun and lavalier. Sometimes is good to have all these options. Take a look to these link for these configuration: http://osgfilms.com/improve-gh2-audio/ Well, these are my options. I always try to work on my own without a soundman ( I work on audio also, so I have no personal problem with audiodepartament, but I don't have a partner who I trust at the moment... ) I think the GH2 is a modular cam, so all options can be used and depends of what you want, the space, location, sound, ambient, people, etc... Sometime we don't need audio, just an image... Saludos! Francisco.
17. Great. My first camera was the panny hmc40. I recommend you to buy the Ebook "EOSHD Panasonic GH2 Shooter’s Guide". There is a plenty of info about GH2 and filmmaking. Good luck! P.D: My choice was to buy the GH2 with the 14-140 panasonic's lens and then to buy another manual lens.
18. Hi Jonathan, Welcome! Bienvenido! I also have the helios 44m but I didn't use it yet, because my adapter is in US. I have to wait until abril. For the moment I use my canons FD with an adapter. I check what you said and yes , it got a little movement my canon fd's adapter but I didn't have problem to shoot. I think you don't have to worried about that, probably is normal. Saludos! Francisco.
19. The 50 mm with GH2 works as 100 mm lens, so it's like a tele. It's a good lens to have, but I think you will still need the 12 or at least the 25 mm to get more wide shoots. The panasonic prime lens are different in terms of size, weight, they have automatic and manual focus and you must control the iris by the dial on the GH2. Is a matter of personal taste. I prefer Canon FD but the panasonic lumix prime lens are very good lens. I don't use automatic focus and I like to have the iris control on the lens. Also prefer the focus ring of the canon's FD. The panasonic hasn't an end stop, don't have marks...are more expensive than the canons FD. It's a personal choice. You have to shoot and check them and then decided. Rental is a good option like Sara said before buy. Saludos!
20. Ok Jeff! You are right about the big benefits and the small problem that we may have with these tool. For all research and discuss I made, The Lightcraft should be one of the best value for quality/cost. Just be sure to get the right one. There are a lot of Faders brand and we are talkin about LIGHT CRAFT WORKSHOP. http://lightcraftworkshop.com/ Thanks for your time Jeffdeponte and Texcam! Cheers!
21. Thanks Jeff, I got no problem with the milky images. As you said , it's posible to prevent with a hood or sometime better with a Flag. I have my own DIY flag to fix that. My concerns are with the ghost images. They just appears and there is no flag or hood to fix them. Sometimes even in a cloudy day they appears. It's dificult to see on the field but then when I check in post , I can see them. Normaly I saw them when the camera moves. If the camera stay calm, these ghost are dificult to see. They stay "camuflage" What's your experience with these issue with Lightcraft? It's a good idea to have the lens/filter combo to avoid the "fumble swapping filters in the field". Saludos!!
22. Hi, You can convert 30p to 24p with cinema tools on FCP 3 suite. I suggest to convert and then edit with only one workflow on fcp. FCP doesn't like to edit with differents material in anyway or you will get render's lines....In fact, you can mix different footage or frames rates , but you will get probably red render lines...and that's a pain in... To mix , the best programm is Premiere cs 5 o 5.5. Here you can mix and get preview real time without problems. Saludos.
23. Hi Texcam, I have the 12 mm slr magic. I use a 58-72 mm adapter for a Variable ND. It's ok, but I can't stack any other plus filter because it "vignentts". It works only with one filter on it on a 72mm adapter. If you want to stack your DIY variable ND, at least you will need a 77 mm adapter. Hope it helps. Cheers...
24. Fantastic Texcam, Thanks for your time and to share your research. The article of crossed polarizer is really good and precise to explain the principles. I hope we stay in kontakt to share DIY's world. 8) Un abrazo compañero!
