1. As an all round cinema shooter, no it is not worth replacing a GH2. But as a stills shooter and handheld footage camera with no rig, it is far better in those respects. Also the OLED screen, handling, build quality, weather proofing and EVF certainly shame the GH2.
 2.
Looks good. Though, the view counts are going through the roof. Was it not counting views by non-member guests before?
No, only counted member views before.
 3.
Hey guys - first post for me - I have a question: Why not just buy the Sony VG-20? While it doesn't have the scene color selections of the 5N, it's a proper video camera. I have one, and it's a fun little beast. Far as overheating goes, I shot a Memorial Day dedication in record setting heat with one - in the sun - and not a single issue. Having come over from a Canon DSLR I can tell you that I was very impressed with that. Here's the footage for what it's worth (they called me to shoot it literally an hour before hand, so I ran out the door w/o my dead cat... which helps explain the spotty sound):
The VG-20 retails for 3x more. Inside is the same sensor and image processor as the NEX 5N. When I first tried it out at the IFA in Berlin last year, I slated it because... A) The build quality was very suspect. HDMI socket had broke after a day on the demo model B) The control layout felt less intuitive than a DSLR, yet that was mostly what you were paying the significant extra money for C) The image didn't benefit from anything extra for your 3x more... That was pretty inexcusable. D) Didn't like the form factor... unnecessarily trad-video and very very plasticy I don't love the VG-20, but I do love the NEX 5N and 7. Best bang for buck along with the GH2 at the moment.
 4. The in-body stabiliser is so good it takes the place of a rig sometimes. Even with a dirt cheap kit lens like the 40-150mm it performs better than the OIS on a $2000 Canon L lens. I'm not exaggerating. My review has been somewhat delayed because I got so immersed in shooting a project with it and I want both the footage and review to come out at the same time. Stay tuned. Thanks for posting.
 5. Really? Shows 6, now 7 for me. Try clearing your browser cache...
 6. Did you get yours on eBay? I'm trying to find one of those at the moment. Very interesting little lens and 1.75x pretty much unheard of.
 7.
nice work richard, i stopped using my NEX5N on 'proper' shoots because of overheating (mainly - switched to a GH2 then) and also ergonomics but it looks like you solved both of these. kinda looks like a baby RED. Do you plan on developing the same system for GH2? Im in South Africa and everyone is completely biased towards Canon so it is hard to find any support/gear for Sony or Panasonic. I guess i will be keen to get a kit for both systems..
I believe Richard is waiting to see what form the GH3 takes but let's see what he says about a possible GH2 mod. Until then you can use the ReWo cage.

 11.
OK wow! Interesting cooling techniques. The 1,500 pound kit also includes the anamorphic adapter? Richard, how about an external power solution? What's the longest recording tally before it overheats? thanks and good work!!
I really like the way he's used that filter holder on the Century anamorphic. Great for slotting in NDs?
 12.
£15,000 is a bit steep... Think I'll stick to the C300!
Sorry must have got the pricing the same way Canon did... Typo with an extra zero. Corrected!

 15. A lens actually designed for creamy bokeh, nice find. Thanks for pointing that out. 135mm F2.8 is one of my favourite looking lenses on full frame. Looks like 85mm F1.4 on the GH2 which I use a lot.
 16. Well done to those who got it  ;) PS it is not a GH2 or GH3
Sorry Andrew, no offense here, I know you aren't. I am and I have enough friends in Berlin who would have the ambitions & skills to create a very convincing mockup they would gladly loan you.  But as far as I know no one lives in this city who made 2 billion $ selling sunglasses and now has the funding & manufacturing skills to produce cinema cameras. Still very excited to see who things turn out tomorrow . . .and yes, great site!
No offence at being called a German  :P Don't mention the sunglasses salesman. It gives me nightmares.
 18. Magic Lantern is a fantastic project. However it does not improve image quality.
 19. I wasn't that impressed with the D3200 because the aliasing and moire is pretty extreme. Certainly nowhere near as good an image as the GH2 for the same price. Thanks for sharing the videos though.
 20.
We need the Esper!!
Ha! For people who can't see the embed thanks to YouTube douchebaggery - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkcU0gwZUdg&feature=player_embedded
 21. Thanks. Just small point - I like detail not sharpness. Very different things!  8)
