I wonder who needs 365mm telephoto reach... Surely for documentary the 28-135 F4 on Sony FS7 would be more sensible. The stabilisation is 5 axis on the DVX200 but that zoom belongs on a consumer bridge camera with a big "20X!!" badge not a professional video camera. If they had made it shorter they could have also made it faster, not to mention a lot smaller!

Blackmagic Micro Cinema vs Studio Camera - What are the differences?
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Damn, wish there was a tiny Ninja Star style 4K ProRes recorder at NAB. A7S would love me for it. Where is that!? -
Even if they gave us raw via the YAGH only it would be better than doing nothing and not selling any YAGH LOL boxes. The one in Berlin near me is reduced from 2200 to 900 so I can't assume it has been flying off the shelves. Panasonic need to stop making silly mistakes. Before the YAGH came out I told them in a feedback session exactly what design it should have, and they went and made something completely ridiculous.

There is a new 4K Panasonic camera coming at NAB
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
This is 99% the way there, but Panasonic have made a very serious mistake. Should be interchangeable lens and Super 35mm. The market for anything smaller chip wise, with fixed lens, is a lot smaller and I don't think it will sell like the original DVX100 did. Panasonic are also crazy to give up on the AF line. AF100 was great. They just needed to update it, make it competitive with C300. Why didn't they? Varicam 35 is amazing but a totally different market and price point to C300. -
Blackmagic URSA Mini - $2995 - official thread
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Good point and I hadn't initially realised the $2995 was for the cam with the old URSA 4K sensor in it not the new 4.6K one with 15 stops -
Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 12 now available for download
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
There's a big download button in the middle of the Resolve 12 banner for me... but it serves up v11.3. Grr! -
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve Much fuller as an NLE. Still the best for grading. A lot to admire here. Thoughts?

With the existing BM Pocket Camera Metabones Speed Booster it's no problem. I expect it will fit the new cams as the flange distance and mount is the same.

Blackmagic once again caused quite a stir at NAB with three new cameras. I like the URSA Mini best but here we have the old Pocket and Studio cameras reincarnated in a sexier body. These cameras are exceptionally innovative and certainly break a performance / size ratio of sorts! However although they look very similar on the surface, they are very different cameras for different types of users. I'll now delve into how the pair of 'identical twins' differ in terms of personality... Read the full article

A mystery 3rd Blackmagic camera is coming at NAB
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Yeah, the BMPCC is one camera where I'd actually be pleased to see a steady evolution not a revolution!! -
A mystery 3rd Blackmagic camera is coming at NAB

Global shutter would make a lot of sense for the Pocket, as it's so often used handheld. Hope it is the updated 4.6K sensor with twice the sensitivity though and not the old 4K CMOSIS chip. -
I am starting to feel more and more uneasy about all this. First of all, Facebook is not the place for such a serious accusation of criminality. If Sara and Sarah have a case, then take it to the police and sort it out correctly. This is a situation where the evidence needs to be professionally analysed and witness statements taken. Are any of us witnesses? No! Victims deserve to have a voice and both sides of this rather vicious argument have a point - I agree with some of what Ed says and some of what SleepyWill says. I also respect you both and your contribution to the forum all these months, so it is horrible to see you guys fight like this... like watching friends go for the jugular. What people have perhaps forgotten is although myself and Philip Bloom have had our fallings out online, in real life we are actually friends. I am watching a mate's life and livelihood disappear here. Also we have mutual friends and no matter whose side you take, it is bound to divide real life friendships. I don't want that. The same goes for you guys here. It is poisonous. What should be friendships based on filmmaking and cameras are turning into a bitter hatred for one another. If you don't want to be enemies for life you need to find some common ground on this and agree to disagree. I admire Ed's stance for being so sensitive to what he believes are the victims. It's principled and well meaning and flies against the grain, takes guts to not stay silent. If the victims in this have a case, they need people like Ed to take a stand. I admire SleepyWill's intelligent counter argument and agree with him on one fundamental principal and that is we can never really know the facts of the matter so we shouldn't act as a jury, let alone executioner. I don't want to lock the thread and censor but it is bad for the overall atmosphere of the forum now... and our friendships. So I encourage de-escelation and for you all to put your attention into NAB instead.

I reckon the top end Cookes resolve 8K at T5.6. But they are Super 35mm It would be nice if they split the Red sensor line into two.... Sensitivity and Resolution.
