Goodbye ND filters? Adding 180 degree shutter look in post
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Excellent stuff guys. I'll give the techniques a go and write a blog about it. -
I am experimenting with a few techniques to do this, but looking for suggestions. In VLC Player if you go into the effects panel where is a motion blur slider, and obviously if you put that on high it looks very over the top. However I found if I put it on very low, it really does reproduce the motion blur of 180 degree shutter, with footage shot at a fast shutter speed. The look is very authentic! However what should be easy in Premiere and Resolve never is. The tutorials I've seen all deal with adding motion blur in the Transform panel to moving layers. Not what we want. There is an echo tool, but that doesn't look any good at all - tons of ghosting and takes ages to render, won't play in real-time. So the question is - what plugin for Premiere or Resolve does what VLC Player does!?

CORRECT!! I have made EOSHD Pro Color for it.

Getting warmer but no!

The Bolex Moller 8/19 covers medium format at 100mm For such a small lens, it's crazy good.
-
Close but no cigar Nope Nope!
-
Ah I was thinking of the 16-D! Yes 16-H and 8z are the same. Actually I now prefer the Bolex Moller for the smaller size to my old Kowa... but the Kowa 2x glass is right up there with the Iscorama.
-
Nope! It is full frame though.
-
With computational photography, the look can be faked quite well even on an iPhone camera. So I am wondering in the future if AI will make anamorphic optics obsolete and we'll all be shooting spherical with a depth map. Until then better keep hold of my vintage glass by the sounds of it

Nope Nope Nope! Nope I'll give you a clue... 8bit codec.

Sony Xperia 1 II smartphone - 4K60p H265 "powered by CineAlta"
Andrew Reid replied to Django's topic in Cameras
I am just amazed they felt it necessary to release a 'cine' phone before they release the A7S III! -
Last one for now.... Same camera... 4K frame grab from Premiere, exported as PNG. Be sure to give it a download and a good pixel peep.

I would like to see the image in HDR 24p mode with that dual conversion gain enabled. Probably quite nice. Is low light still challenging with global shutter? The Blackmagic Production Camera 4K had a lot of ciruits on the front side taking up room. These are not BSI Sony chips are they?

well the Kowa 16-H is no benchmark. Kowa 8-Z is the better one. I'd like to try an Aivascope Mk3. Maybe they will improve it. How much will it sell for? For me there is not much affordable and modern that can beat the Bolex Moller 19 / 8 1.5x I got on eBay for £500. It's very sharp, nice coverage, you just have to make sure to pair it with the right spherical taking lens and front variable diopter. I have the Iscorama pre-36, the 36, the 54, Centavision 2x in Iscorama 42 housing with single focus mechanism, LOMO square fronts, and Kowa-8Z and they are all superb compared to what I have seen from the modern stuff. Baby Hypergonar is also a gem, with the right spherical behind it.

We can leave off crap from the list, no point adding some of the lame ones.
-
I admire them for trying, problem is a Bolex Moller or Kowa 8Z + Rapido FVD costs about $1000-$1500 and looks better. We're only 20 years into this century, I am sure we can figure out how to make a 1970's anamorphic lens. Even computer aided optics design, surely can mimic just about anything. Andrew of SLR Magic told me the cemented elements are the main issue. They tend to seperate. Not good for a lens that needs to be thrown around over many years or even rented out daily. I should get the LOMO out and have a play with that again. Closest to HAWK you can get for the money, even with today's inflated prices due to such rarity.
-
Nope. Has to be internal.

Easy to forget that one.

At a quick glance it might be useful for people to see what's available that shoots 4K - everything stills-video (not camcorder), with a large-ish sensor and 4K video. Yes. The irony. The time has come to face up to it. We're addicts!
-
The Aivascope and Vazen are very pricey though. I don't particularly rate the image from either. Too clinical and doesn't have the mojo of the classic anamorphic lenses from 70's and 80's.

It just seems like you are trying to sell us a drone. Nothing personal mate but there is simply nothing in the video quality to justify any of this hype. And to keep seeing the thread bumped to the top, week in week out... It's not an advertising board.
