  2. 5d3ml if operates in full sensor mode is a vista vision cam, eos m is at most a s35 cam. 5d3ml certainly is better in terms of resolution and dr.
  3. why is this one better than go pro?
  4. to correct this. if only operates in 1080p full sensor s35 modes, actually lcd is high res high fps realtime. the preview issues are in the high res modes.

    24p is outdated

even the latest fx9/fx6/fx3 will have issues in slow panning if they are not operated in raw modes, how can other lesser cams survive the 24p yet the thin codecs? I have tested with nano flash 280 mbps iframe, on f3 at 24p, still the slow panning looks jumpy, although much better than the stock codec. at 30 p / 59.94 i sdi output on c300 og, the nanoflash 280 mbps iframe really is smooth. so that 6 frames really matter, even when using 280 mbps iframe, a codec is similar to or higher bit rate than the prores raw. how can thin codecs of 24p provide "filmic panning"? oh, does filmic really mean fuzzy or dizzy? lol.
  6. yep, that was me. long time GM1 and GX85 user. I think you might have meant this video: good times.
  7. @jase Didn't you also use to own a GX85 and a GM1 as well?:) I remember a beautiful GM1 nature video. I loved the colour signature of the GM1. It had some of the nicest 8bit lumix images i've seen on the web. I got myself a GM5 last year but I have not really used it unfortunately.
  8. tbh, after having played a bit with Apple Log I concluded for myself that 4k framegrabs are my new way of taking photos that are (for my hobbyish usage) good enough that my a7c stays at home all the time. It is not the most joyable shooting experience for sure and you really have to get close to get some DoF blur, but the quality and turnaround time is just.. perfect for me.
  9. Great, you guys! The newly sparkled enthusiams could be channeled into an Eoshd filming challenge. Last one was five years ago:) @kyewould be in and put his GX85 up against the Blackmagic Full Frame Raw Cine Beast. My camera of choice for that would be the classic Cinealta F3 in 8bit Slog internal mode to contribute some additional spiceyness. What do you think? Some Magic Lantern goodness in the mix or some Z9 mayhem or some Canon Ti 8bit mastery... Let's get rollin!😊
  10. I took out my VX980 and film this in the morning. After, I threw it into Final Cut and added Film Convert to it. It was so easy. I let the camera figure the exposure on all the shots, but I had a ND32 on it at all times. All the shots were on a tripod. I probably should have uploaded in 4k, but oh well. It still looks good.
  11. I love the look of the video and it has a few hundred views already. So there is hope.:) @kye I still have the 420 8bit Slog files which came with the SDX cards of my F3 and they grade like a charme. I think the F3 only looks good in Slog though, judging footage on the web. Unfortunately I have not been in the filming mood for months now. But a "challenge" with a few Eoshd friends could change that. Kye and Panny are in!:)
  12. I bought one. I couldn’t resist at this price, which I’m sure was Blackmagics hope for many people. I’ve been completely out of the BM ecosystem for a few years but the Pyxis got me starting to reconsider. Now this has pushed me into the deep end 😂
  13. I've also been waiting for a cheap used 6K Pro as I think its the sweet spot with the internal NDs, tiltable screen and reasonably priced EVF. This changes things for me there too. This with its EVF is about £1700 (cheaper really as there are quite a few used EVFs round that will knock £200 off that price) so its still cheaper than the 6K Pro and it puts into sharp relief the PIXSYS 6K with its EVF which is about £2000 more. I think at this price that if I was getting PIXSYS then I would pick one of these up as well to get a 2nd matched camera, albeit it with a very different form factor.
  14. The GX8 (announced in July 2015) was AFAIK the first m43 camera with a 20Mp sensor. I almost bought one at the end of 2015 when Panasonic had a double-cashback promotion running, but didn't as there was no sensor-shift stabilization for video (lens OIS plus EIS for FHD, only lens OIS for 4k), so decided to wait for full video IBIS with dual-IS - eventually buying a G80 when it came out in autumn 2016. That said, whenever I've played with a GX8 in camera stores, I've always liked it (it has a nice 'premium' feel) and thought about buying it used a few times - partly for its large vari-angle viewfinder.
  15. Its about 1.5 stops more DR. Not a huge jump. Not sure if the r5 will be able to run magic lantern at some point. That jump would make more sense to me. Allthough the r5 would overheat after 2 mins I guess.
  16. Hehe just came here to post this. Which makes me consider it somehow. I was thinking about picking up a used pocket 6k pro, for the internal nd's + I already have a bunch of cfast. But the full frame + L mount makes more sense to me..
  17. Quite surprised by this really. Means it’s now slightly cheaper than the regular Pocket version and a lot cheaper than the 6K Pro version. Not sure how “limited” the time is that it is actually this price for I but think it’s a very good deal.
  18. I'm up for it... GX85 the whole way. Probably with a heavy film emulation. Although it seems that grading images to look like anything other than a camera test generates zero interest.
  19. Yesterday
  20. I won't list all the cameras, especially M43 I've had over the past years, but it's a lot and I'm rather embarrassed about it. Your assessment of the GX8 is probably right. It is significantly bigger than the GX85 and would be able to accommodate the all four fingers on the grip. It looks chunky. I've got the GX800. It's just so fun to use. I've always felt the G100 and GX85's viewfinders were sketchy and I almost never used them. I briefly had the GX7 for a month and loved the 1080p image off it, but I felt the GX85 would have been a better purchase; so I got that. The GX800 has a decent image, but suffers from moiré in 1080p (but could be worse and the same could be said about the others too). Recently for video, I've been shooting so much with my VX-980 camcorder. It's just so easy to use for video as it's made for it (no moiré). The image isn't as nice as the any of the above 4k images and it cannot take photos, but the fact of having a smooth zoom from 30-630mm is really incredible.
  21. More Cinealta F3 goodness. Something about the footage that dslms are lacking. There is just something magical about textures and hues. Anyone up for an 8bit "challenge"? We could do an 8bit cinema beast challenge with 8bit heavyweights like F3, C100, C300, AF100, DVX200, JVC LS300 and so on. Open weight class with some heavy hitters like a S1H in 200mbit 8bit S35 HD mode competing with a modest G7.😊
  22. I second that notion, leaving these rumor sites outside the activity of Panny staff. I have been an admirer of the GX85, the usuabiltiy, the strong 8bit 4k codec in sufficient light and the great colour science for color work in Davinci Resolve. I also like the tactility. The GX8 is a pretty camera to hold and to look at, seemingly the true m43 leica whereas the GX85 is compromized by its size in that regard and in comparison. I only had a chance to play with someones camera for a few minutes but it was very enyoyable. On a sidenote, when I was checking out the classy GX7 in a store about eleven years ago, it was the prettiest of all digital cameras in my eyes but with a big design flaw. The grip heigth was too much shortened so that my fingers got easily in the way of the AF light. The succeeding GX8 solved that issue but lost some of the sheer beauty in appearance. I also love the GF1, though very slippery. The GX1, a more modern version and true successor, much more than the GF2 ever was, has the much better 16 MP sensor that's also inside the G3, GX7, GM1/5, G6/7, GH3, GH4, GX85... Still a nice sensor capable of stunning color and results. The GF1 12 MP sensor was a bit of shyte even in 2013 when I bought mine.:) Still got an Olympus EPl1 and EP2 with the same sensor. You know what, talking about sensors, I never owned a GH2. Wondering how that sensor would fare me for photography. Too bad flickr is not any fun anymore to browse through.

    Fuji X-H2S

Changed my mind. I have been playing with this for a month. Wide tracking is a significant improvement for bird videos. While having to select the subject is still a bit of a PITA with an eye to the eyecup I have come to grips with it. I have turned off touch screen and keep the tracking box in the middle of the viewfinder. Select start tracking, hit record and then compose the shot. Works well. Would be terrific if the FujiFilm would allow me to map the start tracking to another button--say the red record button. Then, I could start tracking with the red record button, then move the same finger to the shutter release to start recording the video.
  24. The Panasonic S5 for me. Better internal video quality than the S5II and not as big as the S1 and S1H. Of course the S5II has better AF, but I can't stand the internal video engine of this camera. The GH6 when using 5,7K ProRes is a good alternative too.
  25. I can understand the reasons for not having an EVF, especially if there's a super-bright panel on it (there's not). I've had a fairly decent experience with the GX800 by putting a non-glare screen protector on it, but it's still not ideal. I will definitely be asking Sean of LUMIX USA the question if they are giving info to l-rumors.com or 43rumors.com. I know he's commented on those websites in the past, saying they had "wild and incorrect" information. My message: don't work with those website! Although I've never tried the GX8, there are so many people that simply love it, even after having the GX80/85, and the GX9 available with newer everything. One of these day, I'm going to have to pick one up. What exactly was the feature that you loved so much about it?
  26. I'd imagine that the ML folks would be pretty good at getting the RAW sensor readout, so the DR of each implementation should be the same as the RAW still images, so perhaps just look those up to compare?
  27. The leaked images look a bit ugly as well. Maybe the released camera is much prettier. No mechanical shutter? Yikes. That and no evf are very unappealing to me. GX8 has a great design. It should be big enough to house a full frame camera inside.
