Today, a slightly goosed Sony RX10 IV arrives from MPB (well... it might do)

I've got Claude waiting behind the door with a scythe.

The plan is to use a file called "bootin.elf"

This little elf (or goblin?) is the Sony equivalent to Canon's famous autoexec.bin

I'll see where I can get with it.

The Panasonic hacking is hitting a bit of a dead end but more hopeful with the Sony cameras - I don't want to go down the old Android PlayMemories route either - got to be something to offer the new cameras not just the A7R II or A6000!

Have you also seen someone unlocked open gate on the BMPCC6k? It apparently also works on the BMPCC4k


The same person is also working on getting 4 track audio and continuious AF on that same camera.

It seems manufacturers can't really keep features back for more expensive cameras anymore.

Its interesting where this will lead to regarding used camera prices.

Cameras that can be got at might well become far more valuable in the next year or so.

So if you do come up with a way to get something wild running on these old bodies (other than video games of course 😀) then let us know which ones so we can get in before the gold rush !

Maybe someone can reduce the file sizes of Red Raw on the ZR to around 20-25% of the size and then after that, work on adding IBIS to the FP2 so that it can be purchased by the other 95% of potential purchasers.
