You said 77mm. The Tokina 72mm is amazing and worth the money for a great low power diopter. I own a +0.25, +0.4, +1, +2.6, +3 and +10. They all have different purposes. You should do yourself a favoir and save money by getting a Rectilux Core DNA variable diopter or SRL Magic Rangefinder. Then you would only need +2 or higher for closeups or macro. The more you put in front of a 2x anamorphic, the longer your taking lens will need to be to avoid vignetting.

anyone have experience w Canon 500D?

I have a Century 1.33x anamorphic mounted in front of Canon 24-105.  I put a vintage Canon 72mm diopter in front and theres a vignetting wider than 35mm.  Would 77mm diopter be different?  Without the diopter at 24mm theres a small vignette but at 35mm no vignette
