  1. In MuriKKKa, it's not about fairness or justice, it's all about the cash.
  2. I've got my BB gun locked and loaded just in case the RED baron pays me a visit.
  3. The A7sIII could be interesting if Sony gets the color science right and it has some form of raw, it may even have a global shutter. There's rumors of pro-spec Sony and Nikon APS-C bodies.
  4. I have no interest in the P6K. The problem I've found with speed boosters is they sometimes need fine backfocus adjust for individual lenses. I'm using a $180 Vilrox adapter and getting very good results once it's dialed in properly, so I'm going to get a couple more. For $540 extra, my P4K is just as capable as the P6K. For the cost of a P6K I'm looking for features like DPAF in particular, that's why I have my eye on the Sigma FP and upcoming Sony and Nikon models. Just hoping Apple whoops ? and frees internal raw for the masses.
  5. No, you're not. This thread reminded that I needed to retweet a message from a guy who has been locked up in an Australian government concentration camp for the past 6 years due to the color of his skin. If toxic masculinity in the nuclear age doesn't finish us off fast, climate change will do us slowly (not that slowly). The sociopathy of greedy rich men and their worshipers is one hell of a doomsday device. RED and its fanboys are the least of our problems, but it's all relative.
  6. Lipstick on a pig. Remember that time Andrew dissed Blackmagic, and the Blackmagic fanboys said "Blackmagic needs to take this guy down"? Na, me neither. It's definitely not a cult. ?
  7. As far as I'm aware, Arri doesn't have a culture of toxic masculinity.
  8. Animosity towards RED management and the RED community is nothing new, it's been going on since Moses was a boy. A lot of it stems from the actions of said people. Filmmakers have a right to be upset about a patent that may or may not be valid, and is certainly something that many in the film community don't believe should exist. it may be legal to deny the struggling indie filmmaker access to internal raw recording, but it certainly isn't cool. It pays to remember we live and work in a community where one day you can be sleeping in your car, and the next you're making Hollywood features (James Cameron). If that turns out to be me, I know what cameras I won't be shooting with.
  9. They'll be free to develop their own flavor of raw. It's not a cult but. ?
  10. Apple can smell blood in the the water. A win for Apple allows Nikon, Sony, Panasonic and the rest to license ProRes raw for internal recording. That's a lot of licensing revenue and a lot of FCPX sales. And a lot of happy filmmakers. ?
  11. This is like Nestle claiming it owns the rights to Vanilla ice cream.
  12. The big advance in 2019 is Japanese manufacturers adopting raw video in one form or another (it only took them 10 years). There's talk of Sony working on a new codec which one would assume is some incarnation of raw developed for the A7S III. I'm hanging to see the final specs on the Sigma FP; Sigma has added APS-C lenses to the lens graphic on the FP product page, whether it's an APS-C crop or an option remains to be seen, as does the cDNG spec: compression ratios? Rolling shutter? Sigma makes some great lenses and is one of the few manufacturers that still builds AF lenses with actual manual control over the manual focus mechanism ?. Canon: ? You can forget about Canon doing anything but rolling out the same tired old shit; Canon will be the last company to adopt raw video for its consumer line and it will do it kicking and screaming. The Pocket 4K is pretty good, but a Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm, or a Sigma with raw, IBIS, 14 stops, and DPAF like AF will be dreamy.
  13. What Jonesy said. The bluer sky looks good, I'd just tone down the orange a bit.
  14. You need a sales agent, preferably one who loves dogs.
  15. Your grade is dull and lifeless. The clients grade is what you'd expect to see from a sunny day albeit a little oversaturated and the skin tone needs some work.
  16. Good to hear 4:3 anamorphic, 1.33x and 2x de-squeeze, and 2.39:1 modes coming in the 6.6 update in a month or two. Sux there isn't a 1.5x de-squeeze though.
  17. A 4K micro with or without a 3.2" LCD and a NPF battery mount would've been a much more attractive proposition. Who needs 6K? I just made the leap from 1080p to 4K and the first thing I did was slap a Black ProMist filter on it to take the edge off.
  18. Is the blue blue sky macroblocking included or is it a paid upgrade? Chances are the Sigma FP will be around the same price, albeit with larger file sizes. I'm leaning towards the Sigma, I'm not loving the P4K form factor and necessity for an external battery. I still can't even buy a decent loupe for the damned thing!
  19. Blackmagic has developed a blue sky rendering filter to Resolve the blue sky macroblocking issue.
