Well since we're hammering away at this, I'll chime in.

I'm all for the democratization of technology. I saw these (FM whosawhatzit) and immediately started pouring over patents and the such, shortly finding that Iscos are afocal blocks with a variable diopter in the front. So here we have to individuals capitalizing on this "revelation." God Bless America. I, on the other hand, and planning on finding a cheaper solution with some "surplus" (surplusshed.com) and some shoddy test builds. Lucky for me, I have a friend that currently has a satellite (imaging, of course) in orbit and he's more than happy to hash out some details. Once I have some concrete findings, I'm sharing it with the world wide web. Every creative can benefit from this.

There is/was an ML version for EOSM firmware 2.0.3.  ML developer Daniel Fort has a 2.0.3 ML version from January 2017 on his bitbucket download page (scroll down to "magiclantern-Nightly.2017Jan13.EOSM203.zip"),

Here is Daniel Fort's tutorial on how to downgrade Canon firmware.  It is fairly easy, once you have the firmware (.fir) file -- just reflash the firmware the same way you would flash ML (except the SD card should not have the "boot flag" enabled).

Always make sure that your battery is fully charged before you attempt a firmware update.

Canon doesn't seem to have the EOSM 2.0.2 firmware posted for download, but it is available on this page.  Scroll down to the firmware download link near the bottom of the page (it's not the "ksd291a_installer.zip" file near the top of the page).

In Daniel Fort's firmware downgrade tutorial, he seems to suggest that it is very unlikely that someone would/could tamper with compressed Canon firmware files (.fir).

Magic lantern is making a lot of progress with 3K+ on the 5D mark 2!
Seems what happened with the 5 year old mark III in 2017 is now happening with the 10 year old mark II...
    3K announcement: https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19336.msg205638#msg205638
Initial 4K progress (10.5 frames per second): https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19336.msg208417#msg208417
Initial 5K progress (6.5 frames per second): https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19336.msg208355#msg208355
The 5D mark II has always been limited to 30fps, but there is also some progress in getting higher framerates:  https://twitter.com/autoexec_bin/status/1048804509827452928
The forum user reddeercity has some builds on that thread.
I am super excited about this, even spent 100 pound on a new motherboard to fix my camera.
Video I made using the 3K build:
Shot in 2880x1080 resolution, Graded + converted to ProRes using MLV App (https://github.com/ilia3101/MLV-App), edited in Pitivi on linuX.
Lenses: Jupiter 9, Helios 44, Takumar 135mm, cosina 19-35 (for one shot)
If anyone wants an MLV or DNG or something from the video I can provide.

The EOSM 2.0.2 firmware can also be found on this non-Canon page.  Scroll down to the firmware download link for "eosm-v202-win.zip" near the bottom of the page (it's not the "ksd291a_installer.zip" download link near the top of the page).  Windows (nor any other particular OS) is not required, once you have extracted the firmware from the zip file.

    guys,
I just pulled the trigger for this camera. However, the firmware version is 1.6 something and canon's site is only offering 2.3. Where can i download a credible 2.2 version? I understand the 2.3 on ML will brick the camera.

    thanks.

Should be on the ML website. The 2.3 has an experimental ML version. You can also always downgrade back to 2.2.

My site is finally live now.
If you're interested in my B&H mod, you can see what I offer here.
Has anyone else been doing modding or shooting with their B&H?  Please post your footage and keep this thread going!

I know that this post is more than 3 years old. But I want to thank you for the information provided here. I manage to build my first diy single focus Anamorphic adapter.
I use Schneider ES cinelux 2x Anamorphic lems, 100d achromat (i don't know the strength of the diopter), and 0.45x wide adapter. It has a very soft focus at wide open (jupiter 9 85mm f2.0). Even when I stop down the edges is still very soft.
What should I do to correct it? Can anyone help me?
The result is the photo I took straight from the monitor.

    Thanks bud!

I think it's hella productive to hive mind these DIY projects. Who better to play with than a community of filmmakers who thought it was a good idea to strap a projector lens onto their camera?

I've got nothing against the folks selling their wares, I'm sure they will work amazingly well (and judging by the tests, they do). But for those of us who can't afford the thousands of dollars for adapters or iscoramas, a couple hundred on achromats and old wide angle adapters let's us in on the whole "being able to focus my lens" rage.

    So let's play people!

Quick update - my series VII to 52mm adaptor ring has arrived. I’ve had to resort to taping it to the b&h as the X and Y weren’t aligning properly when everything was screwed in. I can definitely see a benefit of using a clamp to connect it from the taking lense to the B&H.
For the time being I’ve taped a 52mm ring to the front so I can use my ircut and VND filters.
