Agree. They gathered too many advantages plus the recording function.

Well

Has there been a video camera that does a downsampled RAW yet ? The latest Nikon small NEF seems pretty good at preserving all the editability of RAW but it's still not quite as good as the full size file.
I believe they will go to safer path and not mix record uses and file containers.
This could trouble and confuse users and possible customers and Sigma is not very famous for that ?
On the contrary they are like BM, they love simplicity and Spartan way of use.
I love this .

I find this camera fascinating but I am completely in suspense over a rumoured Foveon full frame version coming in 2020, and if that one will do video at any level. An FP camera with Foveon sensor would be amazing (would it not ?). Does anyone have any views ?
Rumors are saying that Foveon camera wil use exactly the same camera form, same idea but with foveon sensor as the heart of that camera.
But do not expect serious video capabilities and high iso.....that's why FP is out there to cover that negative side of foveon.

what about 4k?

So the 4K raw is full frame and down sampled 6K ? I haven't seen anyone confirming that the RAW is full frame.
One of main uses of Sigma FP is operating like a director's VF to mimic other large format (from APSC to FF even to LF?) cameras by using the LVF-11
So could you imagine the confusion if the camera couldn't shoot by using the whole sensor area and crop finally ?

Internal 8-bit CDNG RAW in UHD 4K at 23.98/24/25p.
Internal 8/10/12-bit CDNG RAW in HD up to 60p.
Internal 8-bit H.264/MOV in UHD 4K/1080 HD up to 119.88p.
External 8/10/12-bit CDNG RAW in UHD 4K/1080 HD at 24p.
Quite impressive..
If the UHD internal was at 10-bit I would agree.
Now we have to wait to see the whole picture.

So next generation of hybric cameras will be on dillema to use either Braw or Prores Raw ? In order to establish the needed sensors ?

As much as I want it to happen for them, if it isn't under £2000, if not closer to £1700 if I'm honest, then I can't see it happening for them.
By the time it arrives (and it will be delayed until the end of the year at least) there will be a lot of more mature options available much cheaper.
My guess is that will be indeed around the £1700 zone (maybe a bit lower excluding VAT) and I confirm that will be delayed further and propably after november.

I assume you can’t really say but I also assume it’s a lot more expensive than we hoped?
I still get info that FP will be priced under 2000$/€ (including tax)

the biggest issue is the non internal RAW recording capability.
That's a huge disadvantage.

previous model was superb but not bright enough for outdoor use.
I would buy that even if they have increased brightness only , imagine with all those features they have it loaded

I don't find that possible. They must have signed an agreement with atomos in order to use prores raw.
I would love Sigma FP to could use that recorder.

Looks perfect in almost every way.
HDMI + SDI and recording to SD Cards and external ssd drives its amazing.
Also 2500 nits brightness is a superb advantage to avoid further outdoor solutions.

A7SIII is never gonna get 6k if FX9 not getting one, S1H is the king of mirrorless video for now.
You forget BMPCC6k ( and upcoming Red Komodo).

Atomos would have an itch...?

500$ for an anamporphic glass ?
With their profit in this price ?
And you have great expectations ? ?
-
There is plenty of time till they release a good number of lenses in order to consider buy one.
They may fix AF too ?
-
Ι believe it's a problem that could be solved through firmware.
Has anyone notfied Panasonic for this ?

High fps that are A9 trademark is a hard spec to merge with high quality video hybrid camera.

No Ibis? No 8k?
That's a no for me.
?
Ι don't know about ibis but if you need 8k and you can't afford RED helium or VV there is always mother Teresa of indy cinematographers
I know BM is working on that.

Cinema 5D -
Interesting as it comes in EF and not RF....
And after all we blame BM for this choice.

I think there is a lot of potential to 'merge' the A7s series and the A9 series.
There is absolutely none possibility to merge A7s and A9 series.
First aims at video centric clients and second aims at professionals . Especially when Sony doesn't have a DSLR flagship like Eos1D they will insist on those models.

If it's still based on contrast it will never be as aggod as hybrid systems.
But it's definitely better for image quality.
