I wouldn't hold my breath. Canon slapped a 8-bit 4:2:0 codec in their $7,500 C200.. no way they're going 10-bit on their entry MILC. That's not the Canon way.

Sold my a7s2 for the a73, I wouldn't touch the a7s3 unless Sony bumps the MP so FF 4k is oversampled, offers 10-bit and 4k60p internal and a hybrid AF system. I have doubts about Sony's willingness to encroach on the FS5 with an Alpha camera, I just don't think they do it. The whole SAR narrative about "Sony has the a7s3 ready and is watching the competition before releasing" is so silly, the admin makes himself look like more of a blind fanboy every time he posts that nonsense.

Panasonic would be in absolute HEAVEN if Sony backed away from an A7S-II sucessor! I suspect that the rumors about an A7S-III being fully R&D finished and waiting to go into production could now we completely turned upside down this month. I suspect that Sony said "Crap....look at our competition!...we need to go back to R&D and cripple the A7S-III less now!) Sony doesnt want to stop their E Mount system development. They have good momentum and they KNOW they must push as hard as they can in the next 12 months. I dont think they want to help Panasonic by blocking the A7S-III...even if it means hurting the FS5.

They will probably give it SRAW, a new Sony RAW format that only works in Vegas

I haven't carefully read every post in this thread, but everyone keeps incorrectly referring to the document in the first post as a "patent", when it is in fact only a published patent application.  Patent applications aren't officially issued patents, and normally haven't even been reviewed by an examiner when they are published.

What is going on in Canon's head in the past 5 years. These guys are just getting stranger and stranger as the months and years go by. With all the Sony, BlackMagic and Panasonic offerings this year.....why in the Hell would anybody want this thing? What does it bring to the table that is not already better than this thing?
Who's super16 sensor is Canon going to use? Will it be a small Canon front side illuminated sensor that is based on 10year old architecture? Canon can get away with lousy large sensor production but there is no way they can challange Sony on small sensor efficiency. Not even close.
What off the wall "cripples" will Canon employ on this thing....lemme guess, MJPEG? Ony CFast recording? Even more crop on the sensor? No clean HDMI out?

Canon are so incredibly stupid, they could have did this 5 years ago and everyone who had invested in their lenses would have bought into this for eternity! At Canon they have one policy, ie "What's the least we have to do?", because that's what they keep dishing up!! I'm over Canon, they're completely useless and unnecessary now!
