  1. Good article about the shooting process here https://www.leitz-cine.com/interview/lukasz-zal-psc As with 'Belgravia' it was shot on a Venice. Although, going the Shane Meadows route, they had ten of them rolling simultaneously.
  2. I've just had a skip through a couple of episodes and the only really jarring shots to me are when they've gone with very wide aperture on longer lenses in bright interiors. Because of the sharpness - particularly when characters are sat on furniture with detailed fabrics - it lacks the smoothness of the other shots, particularly the lower light ones, as the focus just falls off a cliff. A lot of the exteriors suffer from it too to a certain extent with shorter lenses with narrower apertures. I say "suffer from" but the whole thing still looks pretty damn good.

    DJI Pocket 3?

There is a setting for the default shooting direction to switch from Forward, Backward or Last Setting. The Last Setting interacts with and resumes the last shooting mode before power off so it may have been on face tracking with the orientation being set to backward when you powered it off. 4. This is from a BTS about the series. Nothing looks off in the camera settings. Has the look changed from season to season ? I think that is from season 1.
  5. GH7 Full specs here https://www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer/cameras-camcorders/lumix-mirrorless-cameras/lumix-g-cameras/dc-gh7.html
  6. Funnily enough, only yesterday I picked up a piece of gear that you featured in a previous episode. Not the camper van unfortunately but the cart. Currently on special in Aldi for the bargain price of £44.99 So, thats the transportation sorted for the kinky amount of 135mm lenses I've acquired over the years. Will need the camper van for transporting the therapy triggering number of 24 and 35mm lenses.
  7. Well I was about to post about using the Expodisc white balance cap but now I have The Bangles playing in my head. Thanks for that.

    Panasonic GH6

Why would I need a GH6 when the auto clock set is a function of the Lumix Sync app that is common to the Panasonic cameras that I do have ? To answer your question, the camera syncs to whatever time and timezone you have set on the of the device .
  9. Zoom make an interesting product that might be applicable called the M3 Mictrak which is a combined stereo/mono mic and 32bit float recorder. https://zoomcorp.com/en/gb/mictrak-recorders/mictrak-recorders/m3-mictrak/ It can record in Mono, 90 degree and 120 degree and this is switchable on the mic so you can do it on the fly to adjust to whatever you are trying to capture with it. However, it also has a trick to enable you to change the stereo width in post production so you can tune it later. Of course, with it being 32 bit float, it also has the benefit of being very forgiving when correcting levels in post production too. All in all, its quite a feature packed all in one bridge between your on board mics and more elaborate (and bulkier) setups to dip your toe in as at £160 it won't break the bank either. HOWEVER.... The Mictrak range (there are two others) had a lot of issues with RF interference when launched. Zoom did address these issues immediately and replaced affected units so make sure you do your research and get one of the later batches. Its for this reason that there is hardly any buzz (ho ho) about this range which is a pity because they are really interesting products.

    Panasonic GH6

The full user guide is available here. Its searchable, so, as I've done here putting "time" in the search gives you all the info you will need. https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/dscoi/DC-GH6/html/DC-GH6_DVQP2441_eng/searchresult.html?search=time
  11. I really enjoy their stuff but, yeah, the pulsing of the fake focus blur in the background is annoying.
  12. Speaking of Tokyo, MapCamera have opened up reservations for the Z6iii this morning. The base price of ¥356,400 equates to a “don’t stop at that counter at the airport” price of £1815.00 The “stop at the counter price” would therefore be £2170.00 Depending on your preference for that counter at the airport, that is either a £984(35%) or £629(22.5%) saving on the UK price of £2799.

    UEFA Euro 2024

I thought that despite some good fortune with both goals that you definitely deserved the win. The disallowed Jota goal was unlucky too as it was such a narrow offside against Ronaldo that even the defenders didn’t claim it. The host broadcaster is very much into the shallow DOF shots from the roaming camera of fans in the crowd and the players in the tunnel etc. Its so jarring that it looks like computational fakery versus the regular camera images. We have a theoretically marriage dividing game in our house on Friday when England play Denmark but the national team leaves me so cold on multiple levels that I’m not fussed either way. I’m just looking forward to the Carlsberg and the hot dogs.
  14. The key to this approach is to maximise the savings to offset the cost of the trip to Japan so you get together a massive and definitive list of everything camera and lens wise that you will ever, ever, ever need and buy it in one go. It has to be all the stuff you'll ever need though so you won't ever have to buy anything else ever again in your photographic career. I've done that on fourteen different occasions now.
  15. In the UK you could use the cameras to make a feature length documentary about the stage managed decline of the NHS to while away the time it takes for the ambulance to actually arrive.
  16. Or £826 if you, erm, don't go to that desk at the airport when you get back. Not that anyone would dream of doing that of course.
  17. Blue passports though and so, so much sovvvvrinteeee. Base price is £2473.02 So, the legal* import cost would be £2473.02 + 0% duty + 20% VAT. £2967.00 total. Versus £3299.00 Its our old friend the £300 again. * I've seen an awful lot of European people queuing at the tax free counter to buy cameras in Japan over the years but, curiously, never seen anyone rocking up to the Customs counter at European airports on the way back to declare their purchases.
  18. I think the hard of thinking voted for the UK to leave the union rather than the actual continent, although they might actually think both things happened. The UK price is £2699.00 including VAT. The import duty for digital cameras is 0% and the VAT is 20%. So the price is £2249.16 excluding VAT. Dollar converted price for buying one in the US at $2599 is £1970.00. So to legally import the camera into the UK after buying it in a shop in the US would be £1970.00 + 0% import duty + 20% VAT. Which is £2364.00
  19. I've managed to obtain the full breakdown of this hidden socialist import duty racket that makes cameras so expensive here. Its an absolute disgrace.

    N-RAW In FCPX

This might become more of a pressing issue for more people on Monday when the Nikon Z6III is launched so it is quite prescient for Color Finale to be releasing the new version of their Transcoder product. This now allows you to import N-RAW files (as well as BRAW, ARRIRAW and cDNG files) directly within FCPX without transcoding. (Yeah, that seems a bit of an anomaly that it doesn't need transcoding when the product is called Transcoder but it does now function as a standalone version too if required.) It works up to 8K on N-RAW so it works for the Z8/9 obviously but I'm guessing the Z6III won't be 8K but then again we didn't expect Nikon to buy RED so who knows really until Monday. Price seems to be an introductory $139 (usually $179) but there is a fully functioning 7 day trial available too. It remains to be seen what the performance is like so that 7 day trial will be invaluable to asses how it works with your particular flavour of Mac. 22. Laowa have announced a range of T1 cine lenses in FF, APS-C and, yes, MFT format today that will narrow the gap for GH7 owners looking to emulate the “hang on, is any of this in focus?” look of the larger formats. Well, not exactly a full range when it comes to MFT as it currently only includes 18 and 25mm and not the wide option of the others.
